This should put a little cense of urgency under the butt of M$ to get Natal out to customers ASAP. Maybe now, they will move it up to early summer with 6 apps rather than 14, and keep the price down. Competition is a great thing. If Sony were smart, now would be a good time to jump on this. Here is the question though: Can it out perform Natal?

One more thing. This is a software package, NOT hardware. So the title is a bit misleading. Natal is both. If the software is better than what MS is using, the could actually add it to Natal. further more, I do not know of any other 3D depth sensing, full body hardware other than Natal. Maybe it was made with the launch of natal in mind.

I think Natal is really good tech, if they can iron out the wrinkles, that is. The only problem i have with Natal is that ONE company has exclusive control over it, severely limiting competition. I don't think that has ever happened before in the video-games industry (analog sticks, rumble, CD, etc.). Microsoft is also just about the last company i trust to have sole control over "the next big thing," if Natal really does turn out to be that.

You say it hasn't shown us much. Well, I disagree. Those demos are quite impressive. Unlike the Wii where you move your mote left and the avatar's hand move in the direction of the mote, Natal actually lets you do stuff, like grab a steering wheel or pickup a tire and install it on your car. It is way beyon simple gestures. It is 1 to 1 interaction with what ever they put in the game for you to use. The only possible draw back I could fore see, would be inaccuracy due to lag. Base on reports from people (mostly professional Journalist, and developer) who have actually used it, lag is minimal. Contrary to what N4G professional fanboys say, base on the experience with Eyetoy, Which Natal is not.

No. the Wii has had no competition for 3yrs. They took advantage of that by keeping the price quite high for a non-HD console. M$ has to do something to get people who already are happy with the way they are gaming to invest in this new controller. Having the price-point too high to me is they biggest challenge. The hype and support from developers are already there. The game may no be very hard core at first, but they don't need to be. The controller is not going anywhere. Natal is about new experiences (New tech.

Seems like they can do pretty much the same as natal, wondering what the tech behind this. Thinking it's about the same as natal using an infrared camera.
Might be a law suit for them or the other way around.

It doesn't seem to be as far along as Natal. But if it is well supported it could compete. The company who made the sensing camera, makes it for high end cars also. Cars use it to help avoid accidents and assist with parking. Thinking about it, this tech has been around for a few years. The software and the speed of the camera in low light, are the innovative and new aspects to the tech.

sony better buy this tech or face the end!
