BioWare: Natal 'will be very cool'

BioWare CEO Dr. Ray Muzyka has stated that the motion sensing tech found in Microsoft's upcoming Natal "certainly could" work with future BioWare games, saying that the best games will likely "approach Natal as a core part of the game as opposed to an add-on or an afterthought."

Natal will be a huge revolution in the gaming industry. Just watch all the rest copying ms now.

Christopher_Walken6031d ago

Natal will be interesting for sure. However I really don't want video gaming to move in this direction.

The Meerkat6031d ago

One day I want video games to be like the Star Trek Holodeck.
This is a step towards that dream.

Nihilism6031d ago

same here, i want the gameplay and graphics to evolve....not the peripherals, although 3d gaming has piqued my interest..i thought it was a gimick at first, but the idea is growing on me, but that's another thing altogether, you just wear the glasses and that's it, instant immersion, you don't have to flail about like your having a seizure

snipermk06031d ago

My opinion: Natal, as cool as it sounds, will not appeal to the hardcore crowd. What's the difference between the casual gamers and us hardcore gamers? Casual gamers play video games when they're bored and the hardcore play games till they get bored.

So, would I love to play on natal? Hell yea.. But, would I be able to stand around and flap my hands for an average 6 hours a day? NOOOOOOOOOOO...

Guido6031d ago

that makes me sweat playing is not "cool". Sorry, but when I play I want to relax, kick back and eat some chips and sip at a beer while killing fools in COD. It's just the way I like it.

The real killer6031d ago

".1 - Why not?
One day I want video games to be like the Star Trek Holodeck.
This is a step towards that dream"

Let me explain, those technology exist already for years.

Furthermore, we talk about change the hardware to our movement with sensors, Sony and other company's has already this technology but they walk in other footstep.

Body tracking is no revolution in the game industry, but if we talk about (controls) it's a another question than it is possible.

But, if people buy this product they must make room before they can use it.

My opinion about Natal is...........not practical and useless for less space rooms.

DelbertGrady6031d ago

The deciding factor will be the games. As it is with all consoles.

ChickeyCantor6031d ago

" My opinion: Natal, as cool as it sounds, will not appeal to the hardcore crowd"

Goes to show how hardcore those "hardcore" gamers are =D

Perjoss6031d ago (Edited 6031d ago )

You might have said the same thing when you first saw someone playing guitar hero, like "that looks dumb, i could never play a game like that" and then when you had your first go there was no way to stop you from grinning like an idiot from the sheer fun, and that was even before your friend explained how to activate star power :)

edit: Soda Pop makes a good point, it will only be as good as the game that are made for it, its going to cost microsoft a HELL of alot of cash to convince devs to make games for this. Thats why i say its better if they delay Natal and bundle it with the next gen xbox, that way the install base will be MUCH bigger and devs will be much more inclined to make games for it.

IdleLeeSiuLung6031d ago

There hasn't been a piece of gaming technology that has excited me this much in a long time and seeing developers excitement just fuels that.

I think hardcore gamers will embrace this given the right experience.

darthv726031d ago

but also requiring you to get up off your azz. I can see bioware using this in some form on their kotor games. Force push/pull and whatnot. I am interested in the menu interface for flipping pages on the dash and the supposed virtual identification from simply walking in the room.

It is definitely the step towards a more 3d interactive environment for entertainment. It's easy to sit and control something with a pad in your hands. To get the same results with YOU as the controller and nothing else is the interesting part.

Bubbles_Kitty_Cat6031d ago

Hopefully by this time next year we will have this in our homes (if the rumors are to be believed).

I'm very interested to see the 14 games that will be available on release day.

true...but at the same time, it isnt just coming from ms' mouths (unless they paid them)...so you gotta wonder

Dutch Boogie6031d ago

Just what i was thinking. Release something worth playing then you can speak. Until then keep the gap quiet.

La Chance6031d ago

The proof should be coming next E3 I guess.

Halo3 MLG Pro6031d ago

If you guys are troubled by all the talk of Natal than you must really hate Polyphony Digital and their years of yapping.

DelbertGrady6031d ago

And Naughty Dogs monthly claims of "maxing" this & that.

Shadow Flare6031d ago

Polyphony Digital have always delivered a spectacular product, so at least they walk the walk. Microsoft always tend to be all talk

peeps6031d ago

If the price is right, 360 might become the next Wii.. But, that is in NO WAY a good thing.

commodore646031d ago (Edited 6031d ago )

I dunno about that, dude.

The 360 matches or exceeds what the ps3 has to offer.
If the 360 also matches or exceeds what the wii has for the casual market, then we are set to receive the combined best features of the 360, ps3 and wii all in the one 360 package.

People keep acting as if NATAL means the end of the controller-based hardcore 360 experience. Nothing could be further from the truth.

I imagine we'll get the additional innovation of developer's NATAL focus, while also retaining the hardcore controller-based games that we have come to love during the last four years.

Tell me how this is not a good thing?

Leathersoup6031d ago

I really don't know how well this is going to work out. Microsoft has to make this thing bloody cheap. Everyone knows that they've been raping their customers over the prices of things like hard drives and network adapters.
Unless this device is truly revolutionary I see it dying in a hurry. Nobody wants to purchase one console for the price of two.

EA Turned Down BioWare's Pitch For A Dragon Age Origins Remake Or A Remastered Trilogy

EA turned down BioWare's pitch to work on a remake of Dragon Age Origins or a remastered Dragon Age Trilogy, according to a new report.

Terry_B287d ago

Thats a pity. A remaster Trilogy would sell a lot better than the game they released last year.

TheEroica286d ago

Speak for yourself... Some of us are tired of remastered/remakes. Maybe this industry could show a little originality or progress a thought forward. Pass on dragon age remastered. Make a competent dragon age game or fold up shop.

FullmetalRoyale286d ago

They did speak for themselves.

jambola286d ago

At what point did they indicate they were speaking for anyone else?

Lionsguard285d ago

No, they would have just ruined it by retconning things with their agenda.

Ristul285d ago

Exactly, while I love the orginal game (origins) they would have censured the hell out of it and replaced it with wokeness.

-Foxtrot287d ago

I would have rather seen a remake of Origins which added onto it with more content than Dragon Age 4

If successful they could have continued on from it ignoring the other DA games.

Christopher287d ago

Lore dump in Veilguard was very good and I enjoyed the game for that.

I would not at all be opposed to more of a 'remake' of the first game, though. Not sure a 'remaster' with better graphics and whatnot would really pull me in if it didn't include more updated controls and gameplay.

Armaggedon286d ago

Yeah, your right about the lore, and thats the reason I like dragon age in the first place. I think thats why theres such a divide with veilguard. Those that fell in love with dragon age for the rpg mechanics were gravely disappointed.

pwnmaster3000287d ago (Edited 287d ago )

Honestly I tried getting into dragon age 4 but just couldn’t man and it wasn’t that political BS, annoying yes, but not game killing. It just wasn’t it for me.
I would rather they just remake the original and stay true to the original

anast286d ago

It's not a good game. But if a few trans and gay people upset you, then you have some issues with stuff beyond politics.

pwnmaster3000286d ago

Didn’t care for it.
Annoying yes, because it’s dragon age.
That whole trans and binary just didnt fit in and felt force.

But like I said it wasn’t game killing. I just found it boring.

andy85286d ago

Ill always have the argument you only see it if you go looking for it. Im not gay or trans, it was a 2 minute scene you can literally skip and then you dont see any more of it in the game. Didn't bother me at all.

pwnmaster3000286d ago (Edited 286d ago )

@andy
It really wasn’t 2 min and it was pretty much one characters identity lol.
Like I said it wasn’t game killing.

But to pretend it wasn’t stupid the way they went about it.
Sounded like something from our world would say.
Like wtf, i want fantasy to run away from our world.
I think it’s dumb asf to use real world terminology for real world problems in a game that isn’t set in ours world/altworld

Armaggedon286d ago

Understandable, it is a very different game in many ways.

@anast
I think it was a good game. Who is actually right here?

anast285d ago

It's not a good game. People people liking something is not always a good metric. People like sh%& games, I even like a few sh&% games myself.

Armaggedon284d ago (Edited 284d ago )

Thats the understanding people lack.

People set standards of what is “good”. Interestingly, it is a strange form of confirmation bias, in which people look for evidence to support what they deem “good or bad” about a title. That is why we have so many people that say that starfield does nothing new…when that is literally what it does..something new…for Bethesda at least.

I have had people call me trash before, moments before I obliterate them in whatever it is we are playing. Broaden your awareness, and you will know of what I speak.

isarai287d ago

That's ok, they probably would've sullied it somehow anyways

LucasRuinedChildhood287d ago

What was wrong with Mass Effect Legendary Edition?

Terry_B286d ago

Miranda Lawson..and a bit more.

franwex286d ago

Right? I’m actually glad they left it alone.

Next Year, I Promise I Will Play A Different Character In Dragon Age: Origins

I've played the exact same Warden in Dragon Age: Origins for years. In 2025, I will finally make a different one. Maybe.

Tried it before, doesn't work. I tried to to play a Dalish archer but ended up being a Dwarf Noble warrior again, must be a bug

OtterX509d ago

Next year is tomorrow, so you'll start a new character tomorrow, right? 🤔

OtterX509d ago

It's not now, at least where I live. It's 2025 as of 2 hours ago. :P

Bercilak509d ago

Seriously? I play every playable character there is: a male human noble.

TheColbertinator509d ago

My preferred origin is Dalish Elf Archer that recruits the Templars, Baelen's Dwarves with Golems and Dalish Elves. Took me 3 playthroughs to lock down a "true" file for me. What a game.

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast531d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine531d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast531d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman531d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast531d ago

Liam lol I can't stand that dude.

IAMRealHooman530d ago

it's like bitch but your shirt back on, your not blue or spikey get away from me
