Is Video Gaming Reaching Maturity?

This article primarily addresses concerns about the continuation of 18+/M rated games and debates if we, the players, are mature enough to accept and behold excessive violence, nudity and genuinely degenerate morale standards in video gaming today.

It will take at least a decade before this happens

kikicub6039d ago

it is all of us as a society. this is especially true here in the US where everything is a double standard.

we, as a society, are shocked with some things, but do worst things somewhere else......

also, i think it is time for people to really grow up and stop blaming bad kids to games. bad parenting is the problem.

levelfortytwo6039d ago

yeah, I agree with kikicub. It really is just a matter of the public setting this strange double standard. Nathan looks at it in the article, a very good read.

Just ask FOXNEWS - I'm sure they'll give you an accurate answer. >_>

levelfortytwo6039d ago

Video games are already mature, now is time to the mass to recognise as a enjoyable experience like watch a movie or a football game

Video Games are for everyone, every individual with his own preferences can enjoy a video game, this is not the 80s or the early 90s any more

That's the funny thing about America. We desire more serious, edgy content, but in the next breath we get so paranoid over what our kids are playing.

I expected nothing and I'm still disappointed

Like with Fallout, it's starting to feel studios are using TV / Film adaptations when they have no game info to talk about.

toxic-inferno200d ago

I feel the same way.

I mean, how difficult would it be for them to release SOMETHING of substance? Another short trailer? A couple of proper hints? A short story set during the original trilogy, but focused on fringe characters?

Hopefully they're working so hard on the game that they don't have time. But still, with every passing year and so little to show, the franchise will be slipping further and further from people's minds.

Profchaos199d ago

Yeah agree it's almost a cop out since Dev times are 5 to 10 years just throw out a few seasons instead you get them done in a year

jznrpg199d ago

I still haven’t beat Andromeda. I am waiting for a lull of good games in my backlog

P_Bomb199d ago

So the TV show will take place after the OG trilogy. I wonder which ending they’ll use?

Rebel_Scum199d ago

Should’ve just posted a picture of an Elcor saying “regretfully, we have nothing to share.”
