I have been patiently waiting for some time. Hurry up already. I want to put quality time in on the PS3. Calling All Cars just doesn't do it for me.

But they can say robust for anything. I'm pretty sure Sony said that the PS3 launch titles are the most robust software to be found, or something like that. I know there's a good chuck of those I want but as 6 said we do have to wait awhile still

Folklore is hot, and quite frankly, thats about it.(for me) Nothing even close to superb on that list.

Hey whoever has a PS3 should be excited(it's about time), but without one, checkout the 360's line-up you won't be disappointed.(if your starting to get a hernia, sitting on the fence)

If that's all The PS3 has, then no PS3 for me (THIS YEAR). I'm not gonna buy a $600+ console for One game. Then again, this is just me, I wonder who else is on the same boat.

Now Warkhawk it's a game I really want. If I get a PS3 this game is a most buy.

That looks like a damn good list of games, and I don't give a damn if some of them are also on 360.

I own a PS2, and have for six years (same one, never replaced) and have consistantly found good, fun, games to play on it. Xbox may have had better graphics, but everything else about PS2 is better. Except online, of course, but I don't really care. I'm not going to pay extra just to play a game I've already paid for online.

Free online? Sounds good to me. May not be as good as Live, but so what? I'm not paying a dime for it, so I got what I paid for.

It's just like if someone gave you a BigXtra from McDonald's. Would you complain that it's not a Whopper w/cheese? No, you wouldn't. Because essentially it's the same damn thing, and plus it was free.

So pay $600 for a system, then get free online for the entire time I own it? Superior games (sorry Halo and Gears fans, they're really good games but they're not MGS or God of War,) as well?

AND a better controller? The 360 controller is OK, not anything spectacular, but I still like my DualShock. And once SixAxis has rumble, I'll be in fanboy heaven.

So I guess I'm a Sony geek, as much as I hate giant corporations, but maybe I would like them less if they stopped putting out such fun games.

So Xbox and 360 owners can go back to playing the endless barrage of shooters they have thrust down their gullet year after year, and I'll go ahead and play one of my many different GENRES of games I own.

You make some good points, but I think HOME is thought of as a "game" simply because, well - it is kind of like a game to design "yourself" or a similar likeness or character depiction and then designing and setting up your "home," "apartment" or whatever with personal photos, music, videos, w/e. Also there are actually "GAMES" in Home to play so there's my logic.

Accurately stated, Spiderman 3 the game does suck and it would suck anywhere anytime on the face of the planet. Not sure what's going on between the actual comic books, to movies to game iterations, but someone needs their a$$ whupped at Marvel for allowing cheap a$$ games to be borne from the franchise. One of the two best versions I can remember was the massive Marvel Heroes Arcade Game that I used to stand in front of with quarters amassed ready to enjoy the giant Quad screen action and of course, the Mack - Daddy of Marvel games imho - Marvel vs. Capcom II. Those were the best.

Onto the multiplats: only a few were such and these have to be listed as part of the folio this fiscal year from a press release standpoint. I don't mind that there are multi's - that really doesn't bother me. It's just the games that I thought were going to be multi, but then go timed exclusive (like Ace Combat 6) that bothered me, but if I find their coming to both the PS3 and the XBox 360 it really doesn't bother me at all -- comparable to the whole MGS4 debacle -- who really cares?

I like your inclination toward Warhawk as I too eagerly anticipate playing this game, but also Heavenly Sword and Drakes Fortune are going to be absolutely superb imho. Overall the PS3 needs games and I don't think anyone can deny that this is not an earnest and healthy list for the starving console.

This line up is the reason I chose a PS3 instead of a 360. When a 360 fan comes in here and says, "I only want one game." I actually get happy. People who like xbox like a certain type of game as can be seen by comments in this very thread. Drakes Fortune and Heavenly Sword are enough reason to be happy. Nothing like that is coming out for the 360.

Socom is huge for the PS brand. That game alone will sell consoles. Then we have LBP, Lair, Rathcet and Clank, Eye of Jusdgement, Singstar, Warhawk, Pain and Folklore. Plenty of other games coming out too. MGS4 next year. FFXIII next year. Killzone ...well who knows. Other games coming out on both consoles look good too such as Haze and DMC.

If these games aren't for you, I'm sure you'll be happy with your 360. There's just plenty of games that are going to make me and plenty other people happy with our PS3's.

Well for one it depends on your taste.

I do give Kudos to Microsoft for being the first to market with highly desireable Japanese RPGs like Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and Eternal Sonata (timed-exclusive). But I doubt any Japanese RPG lover will simply "Jump in" immediately after those titles. For Xbox 360 to have the most out of those kinds of titles, they need success in Japan, and I don't see it coming. PS3 is getting Folklore soon, then White Knight Story not a lot later. In a year two Final Fantasy XIII titles are coming, and also Monster Hunter. It's also likely to get ports of Culdcept Saga and Eternal Sonata, the third iteration of Kingdom Hearts (not the portable Spin-off) and FFVII remake.

On the third person action side of things, both are getting Devil May Cry, which was delayed unfortunately, but Sony is getting Ninja Gaiden Sigma; if that's not enough because it's a port of an Xbox game, there's also Heavenly Sword, which will pit itself against Too Human. Both will have their strengths and weaknesses probably. Too Human has already been said to be short (and that's why it'll be a trilogy) but it has RPG elements. Heavenly Sword will be very cinematic, Blu-ray will probably make it not be as short as Too Human, but I don't think it'll have RPG elements. So, it'll be Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Heavenly Sword and God of War 3 versus Too Human trilogy.

On the third person shooter side, Xbox 360 already has Gears and Lost Planet, perhaps Gears 2 is coming. However, SOCOM Confrontation will probably be big too, considering the fanbase it has and the focus of online play (not to mention the already good looking graphics on it).

As for flying games, Warhawk and Lair will pit themselves against the timed exclusive Ace Combat 6.

If you like mostly FPS, it is probably the one for you. Still, who knows. There might be some surprises. We still don't know anything about killzone (we don't know if it's any good, but you can't say it won't be either). If it delivers, it could change the FPS landscape and it would be hard to choose an "FPS console". It would be Halo 3 and a ton of FPS like Bioshock and PREY, versus Killzone, the timed exclusive Haze and perhaps Rise of Man.

Microsoft has an edge in: shooters with Western RPG elements, like Bioshock and Mass Effect; Folklore might compete in that segment though since it has some similarities to WRPGs although it's a JRPG. Microsoft will also have an edge with Splinter Cell Conviction, as it will showcase Xbox 360's power since it's an exclusive, and Metal Gear Solid 4 appears to have been delayed until 08. They will also have and edge with sandbox games like GTA4, because even if it's kind of constrained by DVD9, they also have crackdown, and Saints Row came out a while longer for Xbox 360 than for PS3. The Getaway, L.A. Noire and 8 days don't seem to be coming very soon. Microsoft will also have an edge with racing games, as they have the old PGR3, Forza 2 and perhaps PGR4 while GT5 for PS3 might come in 2008. Finally, they will have an edge in games priced in the $20 range.

Sony will have an edge in innovation with games like Eye of Judgment and Eyedentify, also in user created content with Singstar and Little Big Planet (you could say it competes with viva piñata, but they're too different). In addition, Singstar will also fill the music niche. Perhaps later on they will have edges in JRPG, Japanese games (like Shadow of the Colossus 2 or a game of that team) and Sandbox niches, but perhaps not until 2008. Sony still has an edge in backwards compatibility, and perhaps that'll also help Sony a little bit with adoption of a next-gen platform, especially with games like Odin Sphere and Yakuza 2 still coming. Finally, they have an edge in the fact that they have most of the most wanted games in Japan's Famitsu, which could drive japanese game developers to make more games once those hit shelves.

As for fighting games, if Tekken 6 comes out and remains as an exclusive for PS3, it will counter whatever lead in that niche Dead or Alive gave to Xbox 360. However, Fighting games are probably the hardest genre for expanding an audience or console sales, since they're one of the oldest genres, sequel filled and don't innovate much, mostly perfect themselves. Microsoft needs Killer Instinct 3, and Sony a new Bloody Roar.

I wouldn't buy a console just for the games that are readily available on holiday, but for soon to come titles too. That's why I say RPG lovers shouldn't rush out and buy a 360 if they only plan to get one console. That's why I say FPS lovers should wait to see more about Haze and Killzone.

It's a great time to be a gamer, and no console is bad for you, it's a matter of preference. AS you can see, both consoles have a lot of games to offer, neither has an absolute edge, the 360 has the time edge right no for its ease of development, headstart and price, but it seems that both will be almost equal in services (VOD, downloadable games) by holiday season. If Xbox 360 and PS3 both price drop to 300 and 400 respectively by holiday season, they will have a nice holiday. Microsoft will gain something for being on the cheaper side, while Sony will gain something for demonstrating a massive price drop, and become highly competitive in the HD-DVD vs Blu-ray war.

If Nintendo doesn't come out with many things to counter all the niches PS3 and XBox 360 fill, then they will remain with their big niche, but still won't manage to get the PS2 installed base. After all, PS2 had almost everything PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii had and more, in terms of games for each audience. I'm sure Wii will keep having innovative titles like Wii Health and Wii Music, and a few hardcore titles, but I doubt those "hardcore" titles will match anything Xbox 360 or PS3 have. Their edge will be installed base, and if they manage to distance themselves a lot from the "hardcore" platforms, then we might see the Wii become the lead platform, and PS3 might never get Kingdom Hearts 3, FFVII remake and some other japanese games, and Xbox 360 might lose some other titles.

So Wii needs more hardcore games and online play, Xbox 360 needs more casual games and innovative games, and PS3 needs a massive price drop and more games to counter Xbox 360's early lead. We will probably see many surprises for the next E3.

Below, thanks for reminding me of FF7 remake :) I'm really excited for all those games. I don't bash Xbox 360, I do have one, I just hate Xbox fanboys that bash PS3, that's why I get rabid sometimes (and that's probably why I have just one bubble).

I know Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey are very new and they look great (and like competition for DQ and FF), but remember new IP takes time to establish. I doubt these are the first titles of the series, Microsoft probably aims to make more than TEN of each and keep creating themselves a portfolio of games to compete with Square (but perhaps Sony should be thinking of making themselves some new titles like those, since Square is not there forever; either that or buying Square).

Personally I'm very excited for Singstar, not just for parties, but I wanna see how it grades you based on how you sing since I haven't bought a single Singstar game, but best of all, for downloading all of the music I like (if it's available, hopefully it will).

I don't own a 360, and I'm not a negativist so I don't have much to say about their line-up. But wwhat I will say is that the PS3 is making a great and diverse offering of games this fall. I was fortunate enough to beta Warhawk and to me it's one of the purest, honest to god fun online games I've played since Diablo 2.

Uncharted and Heavenly Sword are both IPs that I anticipate to release to great acclaim. They're both quality titles that certainly seem like games worth buying. And then there's LBP, the Viva Pinata to the PS3.

To me, Sony is doing an excellent job lining a very solid online service and experience. Home, LBP, Warhawk, Socom will all be 95-100% online and to me the replayability factor for these games are huge. Sony understands that the PSN needs to be more than games like FlOw and Calling all Cars, but mostly quality multiplayer games. Games like those have appeal.

As a PC gamer thats what appeals to me, I've been online with my games since D2. And that's what I'm anticipating from this Fall line-up. A really awesome online experience with some quality offline experiences too. (Uncharted, Heavenly Sword)

I can't wait for most of these games, very diverse indeed. I'm soooo unconcerned with whatever the 360 is coming out with. They don't really want to diversify their line up it seems. Microsoft makes FPS and thats about it. Sony makes action, rpg, mmo, sports and rpg games so I'm not worried at all. Plus E3 is indeed coming and Sony also has the Tokyo Game Convention to shine also, thats in September I believe. It looks to be a good year!

...here's a lineup for you. Sony is the leader, there is just no
doubts about it. 360 just has nothing which can be categorize
as 'going beyond'. Gears being the best thing on 360 has absolutely
nothing next-gen about it but graphics. For entering next-gen you got
to experience Sony's lineup, and see what they've gotten ready in just
six months what 360 hasn't in over 1-1/2 years:

"Little Big Planet" : The essence of next-gen, forget everything else.

"Lair" : Forget everything what any other console can do, they just
can't do Lair. A true PS3 gem showing most of its capabilities. While
you get fire, water, smoke, fur, wind, clouds and rain all in real-time
through procedural syhthesis, the 32X32 miles scale of the stages and
really astounding usage of Sixaxis capabilities with multi-genre
gameplay types and full-on accessibilties, this is one polygon-fest you
might not be seiing again this year. A true going b3yond software.

"WarHawk" : Freedom, arsenal, collateral damage PLUS Breathtaking physics and visuals PLUS 32 player online like.no.other...Halo3 is all
hype and no content.

"Heavenly Sword" : No other system right now has THIS fighting engine
running besides PS3. A cinematic experience, Blu-Ray quality.......
an owning parade into next-gen.

"Uncharted" : Need I say more ?...it came out of nowhere and struck
with jaw-shattering force. You won't find THIS much gameplay even if
you combine the likes of Gears with Too Human and Conviction. From
physics to visuals...from stealth to resi-evil 4 style camera action,
from Prince of persia level plat-forming and camera handing to MGS
style covert action, from Splinter cell like stealth to Tomb Raider
esque puzzle solving...amn, all character in this one...HOT !!!

"Ratchet 5": Fun starts and ends on this one...and in next-gen its all
about upping the FUN-FACTOR. Unmatched weaponry, humour, stage design
and multi-genre gameplay.

"HOME": A collection of games mixed with 3D virtual reality(due to true
physics) social activity...a real next-gen treat brought straight by
the vendors themselves, free !!! Go arcade gaming or snooker,
match-making or movie-hunting, HOME is the world that define next-gen
of online !

"FolkLore" : Whenever a Japanese does something, its just great, we
don't know what secret they have but it just defines the genre in
itself. This gem of a game also came out of nowhere but has such a
compelling plot that transcends every other notion of gaming. It makes
you feel so immersed even in the trailer that definitely get you saying
you don't need anything else but to reach the end of this multi-themed
RPG masterpiece.

Nothing beats the above beasts, moreover the compelling innovation of
'Eye of Judgement' and the tongue-in-cheeky 'Pain', just adds to true
innovation which the 360 is a far cry from having. 360 games are
basically the same past-gen experience with new texture-jobs done

I just don't see the Japanese or anyone else getting that much into the Blue Dragon title. Yea I know it's made by Mystwalker but everyone world wide knows that if you want RPG's, Sony is the way to go. I don't see people here who want FF dropping $450ish to get the 360 just for that title, Japan and Europe I see the same thing. RPG's are owned by Sony.

This list makes me very sad for Sony... it's more like >less< than 30 games coming. I don't include downloadables as full game releases, oblivion is already out and home isn't a game. That leaves 28 releases on the ps3 in the NEXT YEAR and only TEN of them are exclusive and that's assuming nothing gets delayed. Sad.
Oh well, I don't plan to purchase one until it's under $300 anyway...

i'm sure that's not even all of them, just the ones off the top of my head. between these titles, most of which are releasing either this year, or next year, are more than enough to keep me busy for a long time, or until more like them are released. that's 20 must haves already. it's crazy. at this point in the PS2's lifecycle, i could barely name 5 games that i really, really just had to have. now i have 20 for the PS3, 15 of which are exclusive to the platform. *THAT's why i was sold on the PS3.

i've thrown my money in with the PS3 for now, and i've yet to be disappointed. it gets updated with cool new features regularly, and like anybody who's been gaming longer than 20 years will tell you: it takes time for the truly impressive games to come out, and they never hit within the first 6 months of a consoles release, so while the wait is still annoying, i know there will be an end to it, and soon (at least Ninja Gaiden Sigma hits on my birthday, and that should tide me over until more games come out. of course, i could always buy it from the store across the street from my house, as it'll have the import version in two weeks, when it releases in Japan. hmmm...)

the 360 has some great exclusives coming too, but i'm too busy with the PS3 titles hitting this year to invest in another console right now. i'll probably pick up a 360 when Fable 2 and Mass Effect come out (my fiancee really loves Fable, and is very interested in Mass Effect), but the majority of my gaming cash and time will be spent on PS3 gaming.

i really like that each console has their own sort of market and demographic that they're catering to, and there's legitimate reasons to own both consoles, as there are gaming experiences that you won't be able to get on one, but will be able to on the other.

the 360 and PS3 are two totally different beasts, and though it may seem like they are similar (due to multi-plat titles and what not), they are *NOT the same, and they offer unique features to the user.

ideally, i'd love to have both, but for now, and the immediate future (this year), the PS3 has more titles that interest me.

With Little Big Planet(I'm saying it now, 2008 GOTY)
+ Warhawk, Uncharted, Haze, R&C, HS, SingStar, Eye & Others
will more than satisfy my gaming needs for the next year until the established franchises(MGS, FF, GT etc) and new IPs come out.

It's not how big the list is but its quality....diverse fun games.

the games on my list *ALL come from companies that pretty much have a track record for making AA games, if not AAA games.

Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Sony Santa Monica, Konami, Capcom, Square-Enix, those guys make some good stuff, and make up the majority of my list.

like i said, there's a lot of games i'm looking forward too, i'm just trying to decide how i'll get the money to buy them all.

Have littlebigplanet type games ever done well on xbox? There's no point releasing those sort of games if there's no audience.

Out of all of these, the one that I would like to see make a comeback is Fat Princess. The original was a ton of fun. The hack and slash one, not so much.

Pretty sure almost all these games offended people and were controversial at the time of release and had attempts to ban them- which largely failed. How the hell they missed the GTA games and manhunt games idk or maybe GTA doesn't fit their narrative.

N4G will often highlight “adult” games so we know that these kinds games will cut it today. And the controversy of these games is overblown. “Custer’s Revenge” was not a widely known game in its day because 1) video game console in the early 1980s were seen as toys for kids and 2) simulated rape was not (and hopefully will never be) mainstream. Meaning this game didn’t cut it in its day.

Much of this list is just, well THIS country doesn't allow THIS specific thing that this game has. Pretty boring.

I can't believe this list didn't include manhunt the game that's basically a snuff film where you stalk and execute enemies in some of the most gruesome ways I've ever seen to date with brains flying through the air and splatter sounds galore.

There's zero chance you could make that game with the current graphical fidelity we have today.

I’m beating a dead horse here… but Resisitance FOM gun lay out was so fun, multiplayer was one of my top favorite experiences. Insomniac nailed it and I would love a remaster and maybe a redo with Reisistance 2. They listens to players who were wanting a Halo killer and it kind of lost its character from the first.

Warhawk, if they had just remade the first one not Starhawk which offered nice things like the build and battle.. but Warhawk was the best arcade shooter I ever played. Back when you didn’t have battle passes and you actually had to get certain amount of kills or ribbons to unlock different paint skins on the Warhawks and armor for your player.. Look at the success of Helldivers 2, it’s a fun game and it reminds me of Warhawk in a way. I’ve been wanting a remake or sequel since the beginning of the ps4 gen.. it’s hurts to have hope nowadays. Even with the demise of the studios Sony has a steady fan base.

Killzone game after Killzone 2 play style would be nice

Motorstorm would be epic with the visual upgrade, maybe this game would be a harder sell with the genre being not as popular nowadays..

Resistance franchise, Motorstorm and Dirt 2 which was fun as heck. Add Dead Space 2 as well.

PS3 ended up been a beast of a console, slow out of the gate, picked up steam, smashed through the finish line. The 1st PS3 slim is still one of my favourite consoles. So solid, great games, by the time GTA5 and the last of us had come out it was a clear winner for me

Sorry bud, but the PS3 generation was amazing and featured the greatest console comeback in history.

That said, I'd love it if Warhawk returned or Metal Gear Solid 4. It needs to not be shackled to the PS3 generation anymore. A Killzone 2 remake would be insane with modern graphics and that art direction.

I really miss this gen of gaming. It felt like the last truly "great" era for videogames before the modern approach really took hold.

The PS3 was such a glorious console. The UI, the games, the free online...just incredible.

I would pay good money for a Warhawk remake. Socom too. The last Socom game just didn’t do it justice. Folklore could use a remaster or remake as well.
Several other titles I would like to remade with the amount of visual fidelity the current gen has over the past consoles it could help articulate the games that we’ve loved growing up. I would love even some ps2 titles to remade.. Dark Cloud from ps2, Legacy of Kain series but don’t know what will come of it sense it was bought by Embracer group and all there layoffs.

This strategy is exactly what helped ruin Xbox. Sony more than Microsoft know when to let a franchise go and that is important to keep things fresh. The old games are there if you want to play them.

Resistance series and Killzone 2 & 3 remasters/remakes. Make it happen. They will print money.

FF13 is top of this list for me. No matter your opinion on it, it being the only numbered offline FF out of all 16 not to be on new consoles is odd. GTA IV would be great too

The only reason my PS3 is still connected is because of the Resistance, Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm games that I still love to play. I am for remaking or remastering them.

Why remaster games that ps5 players can't access when you can remaster a 4 year old game like tlou2 that was already patched with ps5 improvements

Infamous 1&2 will sadly always be ignored by Sony, not even a ps4 remaster the whole gen, smh but uncharted, horizon, even days gone had next gen upgrades sheesh 🤦🏽 mane even tho Sony is still doing pretty good in the console business they are a lil big headed lol, I never played the resistance series but it would of been dope to see those games updated as well, we fans get lil surprises here n there but things we really are into having and being vocal about gets passed over like a mf 🤣😩

Remasters are a waste of time and developer resources. Real Devs make new games.

God I would live a Killzone or Resistance collection. Really hoping for a new one in either franchise down the line, loved both series.

I’d say new sequels instead.
