Letting the PS3 have exclusivity for a month or so would probably help Haze sell. Sony fans seem pretty hyped for this game. And I'm sure it probably wouldn't bother most 360 owners to wait a month or so and get a superior version of Haze, considering most will be playing Halo 3 anyway

Ubisoft was very smart with the desition, while releasing the game first on the PS3 they avoid the 360s Halo 3 effect and benefit from the PS3 need for games making Haze the PS3 "Halo 3", after all the halo 3 fuzz is over they release it on the 360 and get the devoted FPS fanbase on the 360

It's a fence sitter, sure. The title is 'could be a mistake' though, and even as a timed exclusive Haze's ultimate sales figures would probably be better if it turned up on X360 at the same time.

What we know is that it will be some kind of PS3 exclusive, timed or not, and PS3 will be the superior version.

Now, this would be anything but a mistake, taking advantage of the superior hardware is important. I don't see why this @$$hole focuses on how much it'll sell rather than how good the game will be. That's what we care about as gamers. It's rare that a good game doesn't sell, so don't pull that "if it doesn't sell well we won't get a sequel" crap. And appeal is finite no matter what the install base - see Okami and PS2.

Releasing Haze at the same time Halo 3 is released on the 360,Halo 3 would pwnd Haze.

Pure and simply,360 gamers want Halo,not Haze,but who knows about Haze exclusitivity on the PS3 being a mistake?

I think not,because PS3 gamers won't have a great shooter until sometime next year(MGS4,Killzone 2,Resistance 2???),so I wouldn't bet on it being a mistake.

I'm guessing they forgot about Halo3. The reason to delay on 360 is so the market is more open and they can get MORE sales on the 360...whilst also getting exclusive time on the PS3 to get more interest there. What they are doing is having their cake and eating it...

you basically contradicted yourself. the xbox360 and the ps3 architect is very similar both CPU have power pc as the main core, the only differnce in the 360 is that it has 3 where the ps3 has 1 power pc ppU and 7 SPE, each of which have demonstrated time and time again that they can run graphics buy them self. as a matter of fact the ps3 was originally suppose to use only the cell because of how it can do intense graphics and physical calcluation, the RSX ( a seperate GPU was designed to take that graphics calculation Load of the cell so it can consentraet more on physics and mapping and genral purpose processing, which is why you see game like Lair and HAZE and DRAKE, Rachet and clank pwning the likes of some of the more stellar 360 games... really dude you basically made the 360 look like it's totally in capcable too, because you said the cell only plays movies because of the inclusion of blu ray, why did you for get the the xbox triple core PPU also plays dvds, and an add-on for HD-dvd. if we take your argument there then we can say that the360 isn't suited for games because it's game libraray which is ran on dvds as the storage medium is greatly out tripped by the amount of movie dvd it can play. dont for get that sont knows it's technology and they were in the video gaming industry since the days of nintendo, and i mean the first one... dont for get the supplied nintendo with the sound cards for both the nintendo and super nintendo, and a little phenominon known as gameboy, they then got more hands on and dropped the world revoltionary Playstation (1) so go figure uyour arguements, if it's anybody who is still learning about gaming it's microsft, they've only been in the market industry for console gaming for 6 years. the Ps3 is equaly a gaming console as the 360 is as is the wii and another console out there. please bro do not speak such fud, if you want to speak truth research first as it only edifies you and makes you look much better when trying to swing the argument your way.

I think this has to do with the petition that was made to make Haze come out only on the PS3 and you can see why it would not be a smart move to make the game come out only on the PS3.

Well I know a I am getting it on day one. I think this may be a good game. Hopefully Ubisoft will redeem themselves fo that crappy Splinter Cell port. After that I think it is best that they focus on the PS3 version first to get it right, then do the 360 version since they got that one down already.

it was a smart thing to do..they dont want to compete against halo 3..even if it does have halo 2 graphics..if xbots is buyin halo 3..whos goin to be purhasing haze? only a few perhaps..i think his made because haze looks so good..even better then gears of war.

Halo3 is priority to most 360 gamers, not all can buy several titles.. Ubi wants Halo3 to cool down (if ever) before releasing Haze to 360 (if ever) to secure better sales.
Anyhow, when ever Haze comes, I'm sure I will buy it. (especially after horrible experience with the Hour of Victory demo.. damn!.. poking gums with needles is more tempting than that game, worst ever.)

BlueBlad is right about the cell. You do realize the "almighty" cell processor is in a stand alone Bluray player as well and is not at all a gaming CPU. Actually if you would do your research you would know that when Sony started engineering the cell processor in a joint effort with IBM, they also started the R&D behind Bluray. This was about 4 yrs ago. The cell chip was designed as a number crunching photoimaging powerhouse specificly to play Bluray discs. The PS3 having Bluray is no bonus to the consumer and also is no coincidence. This has been Sonys plan for over four years to get royalties for all their electronic medias, to force Bluray as the common media of choice into everyones home through the PS brand recognition. You can read reviews everywhere of the cell chip, and every developer says its a nightmare to program for. That is because the cell chip isn't designed for gaming at all, it was solely designed to run Bluray and multimedia. This is Sony's main goal. To trick the consumer into thinking they need Bluray.....Even if PS3 fails Sony still wins..if Bluray wins...They will make more money off Bluray royalties than they ever would have with PS3.

The same kind of outrageous claims were made with this Cell processor which is developed by IBM, Toshiba, and Sony. They claim this to be completely "revolutionary". It's not, you can clearly see it's relation to the Playstation 2's processor. In that it's basically lots of weak processors bolted together, the fundamental reason the Playstation 2 is so insanely difficult to develop for and why developers are dropping it and shifting focus to the Microsoft Xbox 360. Which like all Microsoft platforms is notoriously fast and simple to develop for. Allowing developers to spend more time creating decent games instead of struggling to try and get their software to even work.

Mark my words, you will never see the cell processor in gaming PCs, EVER, it was already rejected by Apple.....The SPUs ine the PS3 are designed for streaming or video imaging(For Bluray). That is why developers are having such a hard time trying to force the SPUs to run game code,(most developers won't even use them) and thats why games are being delayed time and time again. The cell sucks for gaming applications.(Period) And as a testament to games being ran totally on the RSX it is true, that is why third party ports have such crappy frame rates on PS3 because the video card has half the video ram of the 360s and the SPUs arent even used.(as they are only intended for imaging of Bluray)

Lair has the best soundtrack of a major game flop that I can remember. I still listen to it from time to time on Youtube.

during the PS3 era how many bad games, and studios were shuttered during that era. you get nothing but rose-colored/ perfect hindsight about that now...

Haze broke me. I was such a massive fan of Timesplitters that I didn't believe for one second they could make such a generic, sub-par game. It even had a couple of neat ideas, but nothing that could save it from utter failure.

I learnt a harsh lesson from that game.
