Epic Mickey Was Conceived As A Trilogy

Even though Epic Mickey is about a year away, Warren Spector already jokes about what will be in Epic Mickey 2. So during a follow-up interview, I asked Spector the simple, and obvious, question, "is Epic Mickey a stand-alone adventure, or will it be a franchise?"

He bluntly replied, "I don't do anything that isn't extensible. And I will certainly feel like that I have not done my job if we can't make other games in this world with these characters. In my head, I've got two more planned. In the business world of reality, those games have not approved, and who knows if we'll ever see them. I had three games planned for Deus Ex, and you see where that got me."

After being disappointed at the first official screens, especially after the exciting preview and artwork the game was given, I honestly hope it is not a trilogy.

ChickeyCantor6051d ago

...Even though the screens are not impressive or whatever, have you played it?

In your wisdom and experience, it seems you know more than the creator of Deus Ex based on a couple early shots and video of a game he's developing.

"I've never played the game but based on the barest information possible about an unfinished version I don't like it. I hope it fails and there are no sequels, even if other people enjoy it."

Toddlers think like that.

Come on. We know it's in capable hands. I didn't play Deus Ex but everyone says it's good. Great even.

Hypothetical: If Ico, SotC, MGS3 ect. never came out and would come out on the Wii, would you still say they're some of the greatest games ever made?

edit: Really, how much would Ico lose in translation? It uses like what? 4 buttons?

Plus, SotC would work well with a basic version of the Twilight Princess setup. Wouldn't it?

El_Colombiano6051d ago

^^^

Nope. They would NOT be what they are today. The Wiimote would ruin them all.

people expect too much too soon and frankly that is just naive. sometimes i just think people will find an excuse to complain about anything and its just annoying. i mean seriously i looked at the oncept art and some of it was wayyyy out there. TELL ME WHEN THE HELL DOES THE CONCEPT ART MATCH THE ACTUAL GAME???? NEVER!!!! CONCEPT ART IS MEANT TO BE SIMPLY THAT A CONCEPT PEOPLE GO CRAZY WITH THE CONCEPT ART.

asdr3wsfas6051d ago (Edited 6051d ago )

People who don't program don't get that you can't have the concept art carry over that level of detail in the game. Or that the graphics aren't done in the final title yet with a year till launch.

I like the graphics a lot. Old style mickey and bizarre creations look great. The plot is so dark that I have to get this and I like that the graphics relate to the story.

When I read the plot I felt bad for Oswald =/

NecrumSlavery6051d ago

Epic Mickey looks horrible. The concept art had me biting at the nails to see this amazing game. Then I found out it was on the wii, and my excitement went from 110% to 20%. then I saw the gameplay graphics and concept. This is by far the ugliest game imaginable. What a terrible lookng game. Nothig about it looks epic. I was expecting a Hayao Miyazaki meets Bioshock theme...not poop on crap!

So please just kill this abomination now or redo it right on PS3/360.

Cause the Wii is a deathtrap for any game trying to make it as a hardcore title.

Like there will actually be a 2nd Epic Mickey. The 1st one already looks like crap. Spector should look at Madworld and Dead Space Extraction. And we all know what happened with those games=)

ReservoirDog3166051d ago

But this has Mickey in the name...

Plus, I'm probably getting it.

I never played the first game but I enjoyed Epic Mickey 2 wish they were also porting the second game.

shinoff2183700d ago

I imagine they will if this sells well. It's easy money

Knightofelemia700d ago

That's the problem right there. If it's a good game but it doesn't push the numbers they want they scrap the sequel if there is one. Just look at Dead Space 2 getting scrapped because Dead Space 1 being a great game did not meet the numbers.

i liked the second one quite abit, but im glad they are remastering the first one

10 Best Disney Games Ever Made, Ranked

Despite Walt Disney's mixed history with video games, these games embody the magic of Disney the best.

When you think of Disney and video games, the first image that comes to your head could be a variety of things. Perhaps it's Kingdom Hearts, which remains one of the best Square Enix games due in little part to Disney’s influence.

Otherwise, it could be a classic game, since Disney has been mostly absent from the gaming world lately, save for some mobile ventures. Whether it be a nostalgic adventure with classic characters or a movie tie-in that makes an impression, let’s dust off Disney’s videogame legacy and find those quality standouts.
