They removed the command to spawn the grenade launcher D:<

rawrockkillz6071d ago

Oh but it was fun while it was in there.

Zedux6071d ago (Edited 6071d ago )

patch for a demo? wtf is wrong with Valve first they can't program for the Cell technology because it's "too hard" *cough* uncharted and now they have to patch a demo!

PainisCupcake6071d ago (Edited 6071d ago )

All they did was remove the console command to spawn the grenade launcher, hardly a game breaking bug is it. Also not wanting to code for the Cell is not the same as not being able to! Valve is a small company with neither the interest or the manpower to invest in PS3 development.

Godmars2906071d ago (Edited 6071d ago )

Yes, I'm sure if I were a small developer with a long standing in the industry and the resources of a large publisher as well several popular franchises, a DL service that only prints money, I'd blow off the potential to make a few million more off of a segment of the market just because it would be difficult to translate the gaming engine I've been using and modifying since I was first recognized as an "innovator" in the industry.

PainisCupcake6071d ago

How hard is it to understand that they simply aren't interested? Valve make tons off of Steam so they've no need to branch out, they're only interested in PC development and that wont change.

Godmars2906071d ago

Fine, they can only be into PC development all they want, they certainly make enough money, but then don't piss on something you don't want to work on. Especially when others are making good games on the system. Make you look like a douche.

Poopface the 2nd6071d ago

get over it little kids. Valve is a pc developer first and foremost. They dont need to make games for ps3 and I dont think they should.

I have a pc, ps3 and 360, so of course I dont care. But on this site I always here how people can just play alot of 360 games on PC. If thats the truth than it should be no problem for you ps3 fanboys to be able to play source games on PC. Source is easy to run. Even though its on pc too you people are crying because its nott on ps3. cry cry cry

Im gonna dl this on steam right now and try it out.

dirthurts6071d ago

If you're just going to wine because the games aren't on the PS3, don't buy a PS3! Or go add a nice PC to your collection. It's always awesome to have them both.

Godmars2906071d ago (Edited 6071d ago )

Now demos need them as well?!

Devs are a fu*in' lazy bunch aren't they?

PainisCupcake6071d ago

Yeah they are so lazy, making a patch and getting it out only a few days after the demo went live.

ElementX6071d ago

Quit being a jerk. How is it that you have 9 bubbles anyway? Let me pop a few with my multiple accounts.

Poopface the 2nd6071d ago

stick to the ps3 news fanboy. you can go circle jerk sony there.

Godmars2906071d ago (Edited 6071d ago )

You have multiple accounts, most likely because like the current underrated one you're using the others are equally rated because of your comments, are going to go to the trouble of accessing them all just to ding me for my opinion, and I'm the jerk?

Its never occurred to you that if you didn't do crap like that you'd only need one account?

Pandamobile6071d ago

Wow, so many idiots on N4G...

Patching a demo = bad developers? Are you kidding? Valve is a world class developer and no one is more in touch with their community then them.

You guys must be really jealous if all you do is attack them for not developing for PS3. I don't go around hating no Naughty Dog for not developing for PC, or Insomniac, or anyone.

Seriously, you guys are being really stupid.

Godmars2906071d ago

And thus again the argument of how Valve is a world class developer when all they've ever done is mod and improve the original Half-Life engine. Only worked on PCs.

And what reason would you have to hate ND or Insomniac, given that they haven't been around as long as Valve, aren't known for developing on the PC, and have never been called an World class developer?

dirthurts6071d ago

He said he doesn't go around hating...so he has no reason to defend himself.
Why are you on here anyway? All you are doing is posting about the PS3. Every comment you've made is about the PS3. The article is about the Pc. There is no reason to bring it up. Goway. And quit hating... : )

Pandamobile6071d ago (Edited 6071d ago )

Are you stupid?

Naughty Dog was founded in 1986, and Insomniac in 1994. Valve was founded in 1996.

"all they've ever done is mod and improve the original Half-Life engine."

Yeah? And some of the best games ever made came from modding and re-using already great engines. Where would gaming be today if there was no Team Fortress or Counter Strike? Mods are a huge part of the gaming industry.

"And what reason would you have to hate ND or Insomniac, given that they haven't been around as long as Valve, aren't known for developing on the PC, and have never been called an World class developer?"

I don't hate Insomniac or Naughty Dog. Even though the last Naughty Dog game I really played was Crash Banicoot, I know they're good at what they do.

And if I did arbitrarily hate them, the same way every Sony fanboy seems to hate Valve, it would be because:
'They don't develop for my platform of choice, bawww'

The Sony fans are just being babies about the whole thing.

Halochampian6071d ago

couldnt agree more, Pandamobile.

N4G is getting pathetic with its hypocritical fanboys.

This is like my first post in a few months. It's gotten that bad

Godmars2906071d ago

No, just didn't care enough to look them up on Wiki or Google. The only reason I do care is that this is another title that fanboys put on a pedestal. That unlike ND or Insomniac, Kojima for that matter, they don't talk bad about the competing system. If Gage Newell didn't talk crap about a system he has no intention working on, I wouldn't give a damn about him.

And if he was such a hot programmer, a demo that no one is going to care about an hour after the full game is out wouldn't need an 11th hour cleanup.

PainisCupcake6071d ago

So you'd rather Valve didn't patch their games when errors, bugs and other exploits occur regardless of whether its a demo or not?

Godmars2906071d ago (Edited 6071d ago )

Its a demo. How much work do you really have to put into it that its needs a patch before its even released?

The only reason anyone would care that it had some redundant code in it is that it could be used as an exploit to either cheat in or steal the full game.

PainisCupcake6071d ago (Edited 6071d ago )

Eh? Before its even released? The demos out now. How can you patch a game thats not even out yet. Your talking as if these fixes were for problems were game breaking when they aren't. What would you be saying if a patch was released for a demo over the PSN? You should be commending dev's for this not critising them, it shows they're commited to the players.

Pandamobile6071d ago

Valve isn't competing with the PS3... I'm sure Valve could honestly care less if the 360 suddenly disappeared. Everything Gabe said in that interview was pretty much true. The PS3 is notoriously hard to program and adapt to. The Source engine, being a PC engine, wasn't going to be easy to port to the PS3.

Godmars2906071d ago (Edited 6071d ago )

I'd be thinking it would just as, if not more, stupid?

Critter Crunch, a PSN title just released as a demo+unlock key but could only be bought. Now, after disappointing sales, the $7 game is getting a demo that should have gotten in the first place. That was just asinine.

And please note that in this case the "demo" was the full game. Not just an enclosed level that's been shown off at a few conventions.

@Pandamobile:
Yeah, I've always said that if MS hadn't made the 360's tools so PC dev friendly, the Orange Box wouldn't have been on the 360. And despite agreeing with me to some degree you're still calling Valve a world class developer?

The thing that gets me is that while you're defending Newell and Valve with the "notoriously hard to program and adapt to" argument, you've got an opposing example from Epic.

The UE is probably just as old and recycled as Half-Life, and yet UT3 was on the PS3 before the 360. Sure in part because MS was over controlling, but that doesn't change the fact that the PS3 has access to mods for the game the same as PC users. Are still getting them though the game wasn't a general success.

There's example of "notoriously hard to program and adapt to" for you.

No Valve isn't competing with the PS3, but they're leaving money on the table by ignoring it. As well as room for another dev to come in and make a L4D clone that might outdo L4D. Not that such a game would sell as well without the Valve community backing it. Nor would the 360 community acknowledge it.

Insult it and all who played it of course, but admit that it was at the very least a decent game...?

Single A games and live service games. Those make sense

S2Killinit821d ago

None of it makes sense. But its happening.

Ps5conehead821d ago

That’s up to Microsoft they want return on there investment. From buying up those publishers. That’s what there in business for. And they made a mistake putting day one exclusive on game pass. So now Microsoft wants to profit any way they can.its called buisness . Just like Sony putting games on pc a year are two after ps5 launch.
So if they can make money off PlayStation and Nintendo. They will do that. And I bet soon real soon they will release some aaa exclusives .and I bet one day it will be same day release

TheEroica821d ago

Sony gamers begging for Xbox games.... Who would've thunk it?

BISHOP-BRASIL821d ago

Yeah, because random site off the internet represents all Sony gamers, they have the letter of attorney and all...

S2Killinit820d ago

Lol what a spin. You dizzy?

AsunaYuukiTheFlash820d ago (Edited 820d ago )

We don’t care about shovelwares. Get that junk out of PS5

StormSnooper820d ago

More like MS begging to put their games on PlayStation.

TheEroica819d ago

Keep begging Sony gamers!

Friendlygamer821d ago

Some of these seem to be exclusive for lack of enthusiasm of the publisher rather than because of deals. A lot of cool indies skip ps for some reason like katana zero, el paso, elsewhere and gunbrela

S2Killinit821d ago

Even more indies skip xbox. We know that right?

Friendlygamer821d ago

Quality over quantity, Microsoft got some really interesting and curated niche games on their machines, maybe in part because of gamepass

S2Killinit820d ago

Quality and MS are not things you bring up in same sentence.

shinoff2183821d ago (Edited 821d ago )

Alot of indies skip xbox to. It goes round and round. Personally I think your off base on that but no need to have the argument.

Friendlygamer821d ago

Between katana zero, valheim, Battletech, el passo... I don't feel off base. maybe ps got a million of light novel games that will never release on Xbox but like I've said, I'm talking about niche games highlights, the 10%.

Heck, it's probably thanks to Microsoft that the s.t.a.l.k.e.r games came to console ps included, meanwhile Sony backwards compatibility continues to be extremely anemic.

And I'm sure most ps5 users are happy to ignore these games and just play wathever new 3rd person action game is trending but it's cool that Microsoft gives some love to smaller audiences and software preservation

shinoff2183820d ago

Again your off base just to be snide. All it's showing though is your ignorance.

One light novels wtf is that even. Ps has plenty of pretty damn good indies.

Speaking of indies and ms being responsible. You know F.I.S.T. of course you do alot of you guys just support gamepass. Well here's a history of Sony being responsible for helping indies. Look up the China project from Sony.

Lastly lol your ignorance showing again. Sony has plenty of games. Personally third person is better then first anyway but that's besides the point. Sony gets so many games that xbox doesn't get because yall don't support the games. Jrpgs being a great example. I personally am not into every Sony first party game. Alot of us aren't. On the other side you don't get to eat often so you gobble up everything. Me personally God of War not my cup, etc. For me I'm into jrpgs and ms just can't touch Sony on those. Again because the Xbox base doesn't support it. Devs dont wanna waste their time or money. Hit me up when falcom develops a game over there.

Speaking of third person narrative games. Aren't yall drooling over hellblade 2. The first one was Sony exclusive at one point. Another not my cup game. Showing we don't have to fall in line and agree we love everything Sony puts out. The facts are they sell though unlike elsewhere(not nintendo)

StormSnooper820d ago

You are same person as GamerRN, yes?

Abnor_Mal821d ago

They really think PlayStation fans would want to play Redfall? Pfft.

Personally nothing on that list would be any game I’d want to play.

TwoPicklesGood821d ago

I’d absolutely love Hellblade 2, Palworld, and Quantum Break on ps5 as I’m sure tons of others would too. There’s nothing wrong with wanting games from another console and its sad that people try to act like they aren’t interested in them.

shinoff2183820d ago

While indont agree with the games. I agree with the point. Your not wrong.

DarXyde821d ago

Sunset Overdrive makes very good sense. Palworld might.

Don't know about the others. Hellblade II does make sense given the original launched on PS4 first. Quantum Break was a massive letdown for me. I absolutely hated the whole TV show thing and I don't think anyone should have to relive that on modern hardware.

Valve Made Left 4 Dead 2 Because The First Game Was A Broken Mess

Left 4 Dead lead Chet Faliszek describes the original Left 4 Dead game as "such a broken thing that nobody wanted to touch it."

ZycoFox933d ago

And then couldn't be arsed to make a third game.

If they can add a lot more stuff to a 2nd game in just 1 year why didn't they make a third game a few years later with tons of stuff extra? Because that shows they could've.

I know Source 2 was kind of broken and was a reason they cancelled L4D3 but it seems wasteful to just toss it away.

Don't know what Valve were thinking.. it's like nobody wanted to fix the issues to get going. They certainly aren't the Valve of 2004 that released fun games with pretty cutting edge graphics.

cthulhucultist931d ago

Valve is allergic to number 3 it seems. It would be easier for them to release a Left 4 Dead 2.5 enhanced version instead of releasing a game with "3" slapped on its title.

rakentaja930d ago

They stopped making games a long time ago. Steam brings in so much money that it's really not worth the effort. Nowadays, people only look for faults in games, and spend more time whining on Twitter/X than playing the game anyway. Valve says a big fat no-no.

anast931d ago

Value is the Blockbuster of video games. They have no need to invest in deving a game, when they can make handfuls of cash renting them.

-Foxtrot933d ago

What are they talking about? Seemed pretty alright to me at launch it just wasn't supported the way Valve promised us

They should have just worked on a revamp / massive update to the game but they didn't they jumped straight to a sequel with brand new characters despite having some sort, if small, story about where the original survivors were heading.

I didn't care for the direction they took the sequel, the original games tone and atmosphere was missing in the second game and is still unmatched. Daytime levels, more whackiness, melee weapons where you could attack a Tank with a frying pan...just wasn't the same to be honest and the new survivors just didn't hold up the originals.

Here's my speculation. I think they did a sequel because they didn't want to update a game co-developed by Turtle Rock, they wanted the franchise to be known as a Valve game only and knew if they updated the first one Turtle Rocks name would still linger on it.

shaenoide931d ago

I want broken games like L4D all day long...

GhostScholar931d ago

Well the first game was by far the best
