My Whole family hunts for food, and a lot of people where I am from do. Yes, a lot of people, such as myself, don't need to, but there are who do. We also have firearms for protection too.

Yes he COULD have, but he wasnt was he, he was shoot, and it's a fact that people find it considerably more easy to commit such things using a gun than say a knife or bat, which require more physical and mental involvement, it's rather easy to squeeze a trigger and its game over, rather than continually stab or beat someone.

I know Americans love their guns and will always defend them and their right to own them, but to me, from the outside, they cause far more evil than they do good. How often do you read "Gun saves life", it's an implement which sole purpose is to kill. Something I see little use for in day to day modern life.

I think guns should only be given to people who can take rigorous training courses and pass basic IQ tests. That would cut back on a lot of these redneck crimes. As for guns killing people, they definitely make it easier to do so.

in 1911, turkey established gun control and from 1915-1917, over 1.5 million armenians, who again couldn't defend themselves, were murdered.

this one should be easy. nazi, the national socialist party...aka straight up a**holes. from 1939-1945, an approximation of over 6 million jews were exterminated with about another 9 million different kinds of people (i.e.: homosexuals, mentally impaired people, "unusual" people, other country men, etc).

china: established gun control in 1935 and later on from 1948-1952, over 20 million political advisors/overseers/dissidents were killed defenseless under the new communist government.

guatmela: 1964-1981 over 100,000 mayan indians were killed.

cambodia: from '75 to '77 killed over 1 million people under their new communist government as well. so much for a "holiday in cambodia," huh?

uganda: '71 - '79 had about 100,000 casualties to once again, defenseless people.

i'll let history speak for it self and confirm that america's gun laws are fine as they are. could be modified, but a hell of a lot better than what all those people from those countries i listed went through.

also, are you not familiar with the prohibition acts from 1920 to the early 1930's? the act encouraged underground black markets and alcohol was still as easily accessible as it was before they were prohibited. that would be the same exact case for weapons. gun dealers would just profit illegally and sell guns to people who will most likely use them maliciously such as robbing stores/homes, kill someone, etc etc.

weapons at least establish somewhat of a deterrence to others; just like how most countries wouldn't dare to start a war with america because of our economical and military prowess.

sorry, but you need to see past the "evil" of weapons and realize that a lot of good has been used from them; especially soldiers who died for our country (although that's a whole different subject.) i know plenty of people hunt for their food, and you must not know a lot about society to think that's a far cry to america's civilization.

I guess you've never seen a knife being used to attack someone. Did you know that Police officers here consider someone with a knife more of a threat than someone with a gun? Simple really, a knife can cause massive amounts of tissue damage very quickly, it will also result in the victim bleeding out faster. Of course there are many variables. The general rule of thumb to an Officer is that a man with a knife is more dangerous. You'd be surprised how quickly a suspect can advance on you.

Yeah, that won't work here in the U.S. for several reasons. Chiefly the gangs. Gangs are armed and if you think that by outlawing firearms and taking them away form Law-abiding citizens will make a difference, then you clearly don't understand my country. You know they outlawed alcohol in my country, see how well that worked? If the police have no access to arms then their authority counts for nothing. You can't fight a fire with nothing.
Oh, Special forces teams should have them of course. Why of course? Why not take the guns away from them too? Why not disarm your Military and tell them to fight wars in a civilized manner through debates. I'm sure the enemy's of your country would comply.

No one ever focuses on the many lives that guns do save in this country. How many crimes were deterred because some law-abiding citizen had a gun. I know I carry one and will continue to do so.

Last time I heard, England was considering banning knives of all kinds, due to the increasing number of homicides in the U.K. where the weapon used was a knife. What's next frying pans? Rope? Hammers?

Consider this. Automobiles count for far more deaths in my country every year than guns do. So do Doctors. Should we ban Automobiles and Doctors too, because more people die as a result? Could we not consider an automobile as a dangerous weapon? How many drunks do you think kill innocent lives a year as opposed to drunks who fire their guns and kill someone?

If the U.S. were to ever ban firearms. A sh*taster the like of which has never been seen would unfold. Criminals would become more powerful, Officers would be overrun, The Military would be useless as a ton of civilian casualties would arise from them doing their mission. All while the law-abiding citizen who pays their taxes would be left defenseless.

The fact is that the more guns you have the more people will get shot. Putting a firearm into the hands of the violent will always invrease the number of crimes like this one. Reduve the amount of dun ownership to those with a legitimate NEED for them and have them kept on site at shooting clubs for those who just want to go out shoot things(hey, whatever floats your boat)but even then the memebers must be properly vetted.

As for the "he could have vludgeoned/pillowed/oared/hamm ered the kid to death" argument. Well, he could have certainly but the dun just makes a death far more likely. You pull the trigger and death can be instant-there's no time to calm down, no time to escape the siruation. Yuo start hitting smeone and eben then there's a chance tio think and calm down, time to run away. Time. And more chance of everyone living. Also a gun has one purpose while there are a lot of legitimate reasons for owning knives and other blunter instruments-they aren't the same thing, are they?

I cannot think of many reasons to own a gun in western soviety at all. Maybe farmers with vermin problems and as I would espouse a largely unarmed police force(as we have in the UK)I wouldn't even arm all cops. The "right to bear arms" as argued from the contitution isn't even a vulletproof argument. for one thing many scholars feel it' based on a misread of the document and that , actually, it means individual states against either other states or a corrupted government and NOT the individual citizens. I'm not saying either are correct just that there's legitimate discussion on the subject.

In the UK we siffer far fewer shootings than you do in the US and it can be squarely put at the door of us just having far fewer guns in circulation. Does this mean our murder rate is topped up with knifings and such? No we're below US levels in most towns and cities on that score as well. Some argue that thi is because of guns as well(IDK to be frank) as you're more likely to stab a guy if you think he may have a gun(as I say I just don't know at all about that one)on him.

I realise a lot of US citizens enjoy guns and do it safely as well(no matter how I might feel about "hobbies" like hunting either there or in my own vontinent-that isn't the big issue for me here)and I don't say that should have to stop just that it has to be controlled much better. Also I fail to see how having a gun in the house would make me any safer. A burglar could find it, get ti it first AND is more likely to shoot me if he just THINKS I've got one.

I jus don't see any need for a gun in a home whatsoever. More guns mean more danger.

if the right to bear arms was never initiated, there would be a high probability that that gun would not have been in the fathers hands. It is possible he may have grabbed a knife or just beaten the son with his hand. Shooting a gun is quick and thoughtless and results are painfully obvious. Stabbing and punching in this situation may haven given the father time to rethink his actions over even in that condition. There have been many times I have gotten in my car, dead set on going home, and was drunk, I realized what i was doing was wrong and cabbed home.

There are three instances where my gun would be used to kill:

Hunting, An intrusion in my house, and when someone tries to take my gun.

Ever been "banged on" or robbed at gun point? I have and let me tell you I wish I had a gun when those things happened to me. Banning guns won't keep the criminals from getting them, they'll just put the good people out there at a disadvantage.

On topic though, I dont't think video games should be blamed for this incident.

As long as ANYONE has the permission to carry a gun in the United States, then EVERYONE should have access to them. NO, not everyone will do the right thing, but people act like guns are the only way someone can get murdered.

P.S.

Canadians also carry guns: and their murder rate is very low: it's not the people or the guns, it's the crazy macho mentality that a lot of Americans have because of mass media. How many cartoons, movies, books, (yes, even games) can you name that doesn't show people going off and having characters actually showing self-control in normal, everyday situations?

If Guns are outlawed then something else will take It's place.
