the mouse is sick...also that 27 inch display has an insane 2560-by-1440 resolution. Man games would look good on that thing!

GOS_SAND-MAN6037d ago

yah.. the mouse is dope.. and the display... Apple is steppin' there game up

Greywulf6037d ago

These guys have some great designers/concept people. Sheesh.

I-pods :P

I have a strange dislike to apple, sure their products do their job but they are designed for people to be arrogant.

'I have a mac'
'Look at my iphone'
'I'll do the work in garage band'

These are starting to get frankly annoying seeing as the Mac is overpriced, the iphone is simply a phone that runs flash apps and it's just one big excuse to think your better. I'm not getting an Ipod touch for that reason and will stick to what ever does the job of playing music... and not some app which you use to give you an excuse to whip out your iphone seeing as no one calls anymore because you where bragging about your iphone.

Timesplitter146037d ago (Edited 6037d ago )

yeah... if Macs had games, that is.

Seriously, if you're not into music recording/movie editing, there's no reason to get a Mac. It's so damn expensive and it's not even customizable. Sure it's easier to use, but the possibilities are very restricted compared to other OS.

And Linux is the exact opposite : very customizable and flexible, but so much that there's no real purpose to it except maybe curiosity or love for tech.

I'll stick with Windows even if it's not perfect. Windows 7 is pretty good.

Darkeyes6037d ago (Edited 6037d ago )

I like the innovations Apple brings to the industry.. Ya they like to brag about their stuff and downplay Windows, but they have some of the best designers and innovators in the industry.. Just look at their products like Macbook Air (You can slice someone if you throw it hard... Sheez it's that slim) and this magic mouse with multi touch features now...

People might not like Mac, but it's stuff like multi-touch trackpad and design aesthetic that pulls people towards it... They sold more than 3 million Macs this quarter in a time when recession has hit people badly and Apple selling over priced products.... Just to give you the perspective, even consoles like PS3 and 360 don't sell 3 million in the middle of summer and these are a fraction of the price Macs are sold.... These guys really know how to sell their stuff...

@timesplitter:- Soon Apple will come out with displays that will support 2560*1440 resolution... you can use that if you have an @ss load of cash. The games would look really sick on such displays...

BulletToothtony6037d ago

OS-X it's simply amazing.. freaking easy to use.. it invites you to try new things.. i never even cared about video editing but iMovie it's so easy to use i went and bought a camera and started playing with it..

People hating on something just cause it's more expensive without trying it it's what fanboys do, hating the ps3 without never trying it just for the price..

I do think they're a bit overpriced but so are Mercedez and beemers.. they do have a lot of extra features that you don't know unless you tried them.. it's like thinking that a honda and a ferrari are both the same, they get you from point a to b, it's not just that, it's how they get you there, it's the experience, and after using windows since 95, after i tried leopard for just one week i knew why they're great machines.. they work so amazing.. don't hate without trying.. that's what fanboys do.

SnuggleBandit6037d ago (Edited 6037d ago )

"yeah... if Macs had games, that is. "

Its called bootcamp brotha look it up!

You can run windows 7 on a mac by installing it through bootcamp, and play every pc game ever made. So when i want to game i run windows, and for day to day tasks, i use osx because its so much more user friendly!

BYE6037d ago

@Timesplitter14

You can play ALL PC games on a Mac, too.

Product6037d ago (Edited 6037d ago )

One problem I have heard though from others is the framerate sometimes is not as high when running pc games through bootcamp or alternatives.

It is funny though how people who don't own a Mac or Apple computer think they are so gimped. Way more to Macs then most people think.

Most don't know you can run Windows 7 on it.

Eiffel6037d ago

Oh yeah..you can play any PC game that doesn't require a large graphics card or fast processor..Which is pretty much any game that is flash based or Spore.

Mac as a gaming computer is laughable.

SnuggleBandit6037d ago (Edited 6037d ago )

^^^
why don't you not comment on anything you know nothing about??

They may not be the cheapest, but you can play anything. Heck even my 2.53 GHz Macbook Pro with 4 gigs of RAM can handle pretty much anything...and that's just a laptop. The imacs are pretty damned fast, let alone mac pros.

evrfighter6037d ago

sweet so I can game on a mac now??!?!?!

no?...

k

Eiffel6037d ago (Edited 6037d ago )

That's pretty much the point. I could build two, twice as powerful PC's than the new iMac at the same price if not lower. Apple isn't stepping their game up until they learn the definition of "recession".

Apple makes Microsoft look less greedy.

But whatever it's your money to spend. No matter how stupid the purchase is.

Darkeyes6037d ago (Edited 6037d ago )

@Eiffel... Just look up the specs of the high end iMac and then say it's a joke for gaming... Let me help you out for that..
.
ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics processor with 512MB of GDDR3 memory
2.8GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with 8MB shared L3 cache; Turbo Boost dynamic performance up to 3.46GHz; Hyper-Threading for up to eight virtual cores

Sure you can create a PC with more specs than that at half the price, but don't generalize that Macs sucks at specs. Hell apart from Crysis at Very High settings, I am damn sure this could run any game ever created with ease... Here is the source to confirm:

http://www.apple.com/imac/s...

Even the dual core one base model is pretty much loaded... But the high end one at 2000$ impresses the most with 2560*1440 screen, multi touch mouse and all the above mentioned specs.

Oh ya and refer to my previous post... Apple sold 3 million macs last quarter leaving even analysts stunned(Here is the link if you question my post http://mac.blorge.com/2009/... ). Guess they really don't know what recession means.

beardpapa6037d ago

no problem playing games here. Cider version of L4D runs great too. Bootcamp games tend to run faster than on my Vista/W7 machine.

And Macs aren't that expensive. They're much more affordable than they were years ago. At least, as laptops go, they're more affordable than an equivalent quality Sony Vaio. If you want inexpensive you can always go with Dell, but still, Macs in general aren't that expensive. An iMac is an all-in-one, and even an equivalent HP machine at Fry's cost about the same. Sure you can't really tinker with the innards, but that's the downside of buying those all-in-one machines.

Getting a Mac Pro on the other hand is up there in $$$ but the specs you get in there would be perfect for video editing.

But since this is a gaming site and it's news for gamers ... if people wanted to play games they should stick with a PC. It's easier to just find something and play. You need to be more resourceful when it comes to getting a game to play on Mac - either Ciderize it or Bootcamp.

Bonsai12146037d ago

i would buy that mouse in a second, but the lack of a third click is a dealbreaker for me. i use it so often to open links in new tabs.

and actually, studies have shown that apple is recession proof. in the actual recession during the past winter, spring and summer, apple actually improved in sales. cause you know, rich people eat well.

whoelse6037d ago

still no blu-ray support.

BYE6037d ago

@Eiffel

I'm sure your built PC looks just as cool, is made of aluminium and glass, runs on Snow Leopard and is as space saving as an iMac. Which of course also means it has only one cable in the back.

If not, I'm afraid you're off-topic.

singhjeet296037d ago

Macs are massively customizable (but not very well known), I can find a program for everything I need to do, and at the end of the day the 27inch beast which i plan to get will be perfect for games when I boot it up in Windows 7, which indeed is really good!!!

And although there still is a slight mac premium, they're actually much much cheaper than they used to be. A 27inch screen with IPS tech are extremely pricey as it is, but the fact that apple can an i5, TB hdd, radeon 4850 512MB, magic mouse and the mac os with that for not too much more is actually quite impressive.

Kaneda6036d ago

If you are smart enough you would know that Apple is making record profit every quarters.. even during the recession. Becoz they make better products than anyone else. Yes, they know the word recession. They lower their products by $200...

check their stock AAPL..

Fishy Fingers6037d ago

I spend most of my day sat in front of a G5 with 30" monitor. The novelty does wear off but I do love them.

meetajhu6037d ago

Lame. What the hell is great about it? Except for a software called as Final Cut Pro other than that Mac is just worthless! You can't build your own PC. You just don't have freedom. According to Mr.Steve jobs Listening music, watching movies and Browsing the internet is entertainment and making you nothing to learn. Today i know about PC hardware, console hardware, programming small PSP apps,Nokia apps and stuff is by using Desktop PC's.I also have love to make my games and mods. Its only possible on PC.With such a 27inch screen u can't game in MAC. If someone started there life on MAC is just a dumb person today who has no idea about his own MAC system. I would bash Apple more for there overpriced product and not worthy stuff!

tdrules6037d ago

wow im sure people will enjoy playing COD2, Quake and WoW on that 2 grand beast...

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio2d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing2d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster922d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit2d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing2d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster922d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
