Alan Wake looks graphically better than Uncharted 2 and also Rage. Uncharted 2 Graphics Engine is already showing how weak it is compared to other Game Engines as it is suffering from POP UPS, FREEZING , GLITCHES.

I think the game is just as visually stunning as RAGE, and will be a contender for Uncharted 2's crown.

From that list I'll go with Heavy Rain

Alan Wake can mess with Uncharted2... it uses DX10 features and has extremly sharp textures.

Heavy Rain looks also great but its the characters ONLY what makes the game looking so good.. have ya seen the ingame trailer? there are some cars and helicopters which look worse as in GTA4.

But RAGE is right now from what we have seen the best looking game, you cant disagree with that fact.

But at the end GAMEPLAY > graphics... a fact that PS3 owners dont care about, lol!

None of which are released. Kinda obvious that eventually, there will be a game that can surpass an older game graphically. Of all those games, the only one I can see truly passing it will be Heavy Rain. God of War is pretty close, but Heavy Rain takes the cake.

hasent seen The Last Gaurdian in-game footage from TGS 09. Visually that game is out of this world. Why is GT5 not in the list?.

Alan Wake looks good back in 2005. SC is just another UE game. AC2 and rage i agree with as they both look amazing.

I really do hope devs would go beyond U2 and get us more amazing looking titles.

Alan wake looked great 3 years ago, not so much now.

it's not just the overall textures/lighting.

Nathan Drake's plethora of contextual animations REALLY sell the visual package.

take Resident Evil 5 for example. the game is visually stunning, truth told. it has great textures, great character models, really good environments, and pretty good lighting.

the character ANIMATIONS, and even ambient effects are severely lacking in that game. it looks and feels like a video game.

there is visually so much going on in a frame of Uncharted 2 that it's almost overwhelming. Killzone 2 featured the same level of detail.

Uncharted 2 is so highly praised because of the little details that we don't necessarily pick up on in real life because they're always there, but if they weren't, you'd notice in a heartbeat.

after playing Uncharted 2, then moving on to other games, i'm instantly reminded of the little details those games are missing that Uncharted 2 has. doesn't make those games any less great (Demon's Souls, for example, completely fails graphically when held up to Uncharted 2's standard, and yet Demon's Souls is a PHENOMENAL game).

games like U2 are a rarity. i don't expect every game to match what Naughty Dog has accomplished, but the bar has certainly been raised.

hopefully the praise U2 is getting will prompt developers to take a deeper look at the worlds and characters they create.

the most unique, original thing Naughty Dog has done with U2 that gets overlooked is how they managed to fully integrate Nathan into his environment. yes, he's a fully realized character with witty banter and an amiable nature, but gameplay wise, no other game i've ever played has grounded their character in their world as much as Uncharted 2.

GTAIV did a really good job of making Nico feel like he was a part of his environment (the way his body shifted weight when taking steps and running), but Uncharted 2 (and Uncharted 1; though no one wants to give that game the credit it deserves) has taken it to the next level, building upon what Jordan Mechner introduced in the Prince of Persia series way back when: fluid animations and making the character feel like he/she has mass and weight, and connecting him to his environment through interactions like hanging on ledges, collapsing floorboards, etc).

as i've said numerous times, i think the Uncharted series has more in common with the Prince of Persia series than the Tomb Raider series. it's connection to Tomb Raider is superficial (the "Indiana Jones" genre), while gameplay wise, i feel it's inspiration is more from Prince of Persia (mixing platforming, action, and puzzle solving with a strong central character and tight plots).

if there were ever a company i wouldn't mind taking over the Prince of Persia series from Ubisoft Montreal if they ever get bored of it, Naughty Dog would be it.

I have to admit that i am planing to buy all 6 of those games but i dont think any of them match uncharted 2, they all look brill but none of them other than heavy rain has the almost real lookin models in game, just watch a clip from uncharted 2 or heavy rain, now show me what beats those 2 alone?

I'd say God of War 3 out of that bunch of games. Heavy Rain doesn't look as good as it first did when it shown a couple years back at E3. One thing about Uncharted 2 characters is the eyes, they pull you into the character. You don't get that from Heavy Rain.

Because of different art & game styles, sometimes opionion comes into play when comparing what looks like better graphics.

But I say bring on the competition for best graphics. That is a win for us game players.

In the mean time nothing out there can even compare.

And with the great quirky creative style of Oddworld Inhabitants I am in hopes that when their game based on their up-coming movie Citizen siege comes out can rival the great UC2....A Oddworld Inhabitants new gen game just needs to come out.

If a game has a great art design, runs well, and is fun to play then sign me up.

For example, Demon's Souls. Graphically it is not a beast, but it has a good art design, animations are good, and its damn fun to play.

The only 2 i see touching Uncharted 2 are GoW3 and Heavy Rain. Killzone 3, Resistance 3 and so on will come to beat each other.

360 fans don't come here and point out that gameplay > graphics cos PS3 has both. Have you even played Demons Souls, Killzone 2, Uncharted/2, inFAMOUS and all the other games?

I have played all of them and i dont any other games touching them. They may miss out in a few things but they are the best at their genre so far.

UC2 is very impressive but this does not mean that all other games fail, lets just wait and see instead of speculating, you can judge a game by peoples enthusiasm, tell me you do not want to play Alan Wake and I will call you a fraud, the graphics especially some of the lighting look fantastic, I think it will shock quite a few people.

Splinter Cell looks good but not uncharted 2 good.

Out of all those games only Splinter Cell Conviction and Alan Wake will sell day 1 more than a million and that's a fact.

I apologise as this is a little off topic, but it could be about one of these games.

I was hoping someone could tell me what devs are in Toronto, since I was on the train yesterday and overheard 2 developers discussing some problems they are having with a publisher of the 'big' game they are developing.

They were careful not to mention the title and were trying to speak quietly, but what I did pick up is that 'they have to drop the multiplayer' due to the publisher pushing for a '9 month turnaround'.

They were also arguing with the publisher about the need for a main story co-op and were critizing a lot of games that didnt have it (Resistance 3 being one of them- not to mention critizing the story as well). They continued to complain that the publisher has changed the entire focus of the game in the past, and stessing about the 9 month turnaround to do so.

Also, I heard one mention a 'vortex' graphic for the death screen (although he may have been talking about his past work experience on a game.) They also critizied the 'Japanese love of muted colors', but again, this may have been in regards to past expereinces with publishers.

Finally, They concluding the publisher 'just promised too many things' and one said to the other 'just put yourself on autopilot for the next 9 months and think about the next game'; suggesting these problems were going to hurt the final game enough that it will probably flop.

Anyways, thats it. I am hoping some of you on here that know a whole lot more than I do, can put on your detective caps and see if theres anything here of substance.

As of right now, though, Uncharted 2 is the best looking game on any console. There's no doubt about that. Can't wait to see how console graphics will evolve over the rest of this gen, and eventually next gen. It's hard to picture 10 years from now when we'll be looking back on Uncharted 2 and saying that the graphics are outdated.

Nothing can challenge UC1 let alone 2. Unless it's a PS3 exclusive.

Just a note to the Atheists or the 'unsure' people out there, if you find it so hard to believe that a mere game like Uncharted 2 could exist without so much hard work, which took 18 months or more from the Naughty Dog team to do, then shame on you for believing that the whole universe coincidentally came out of a Big Bang.

God of War 3 is drop dead GORGEOUS from what I played at E3. Splinter Cell doesn't stand a chance, but Heavy Rain also does.

Without a doubt, Heavy Rain looks beast! The character animations and models look very top-notch. God Of War III looks very awesome to. At a whopping 1080p, I think GOWIII can pull of a better visual feet than Uncharted 2. Alan Wake looks great too. Splinter Cell: Conviction.... Meh... Could go either way. I don't think it has that much of a visual punch than the games I mentioned. Though it does look fairly nice. :)

PS... Props to Naughty Dog for creating such an awesome game. They have really outdone themselves by bringing forth such a visual powerhouse! Thank you so much for your dedication to Uncharted 2! I look forward to seeing your future games! Cheers! :D

Alan Wake and Assassin's Creed II?! Those games shouldn't be on this list. Their visuals are "okay", bit it's not like they can compete with Uncharted II. Does anyone still agree that MGS4 is still the best looking console game?

well its time i put some input in this, first of all the only games on pc that are anywhere near a ps3 exclusive is crysis, crysis warhead, and arma 2, and ive see those maxed and they dont look better than uncharted 2, if i looked on 2 tv screens no matter what resolution, i and had one of crysis, crysis warhead or arma 2 and uncharted 2 on the other screen, then i would be more likely to see uncharted 2 looking WAAAAAY more movie like than either 3 of the maxed out best looking pc games,

also ive said it before and ill say it again, pc fans act as if they have seen the ps3 playing a game maxed out, but looking at games like the last guardian, gow3, uncharted 2, heavy rain and some of the other top ps3 visual titles, i dont see how you claim pc can do over what ps3 can, when no one has come close to maxing it out,

also even if the best of pc maxed beat uncharted 2, that would be a waste of pc tech if developers wanted to show the "superiority" of pc graphics, cause wardevil will be the real show of ps3

Its all in they eye of the beholder. I still think that visually Bioshock is the best game this gen. It may not have the best technical look but for me its all about artistic vision. I am playing Uncharted 2 right now (on a break), so I can give this valid opinion without getting bubbles knocked. Uncharted 2 is defiantly the most realistic looking game this gen. But as far as overall presentation and atmosphere I still give the crown to Bioshock.

i love uncharted but it does have its graphical flaws quite a bit of jaggies in some of the levels somethings dont look to impressive.. I'm not talking about the cutscenes cause yes the cutscenes look amazing i think the best looking levels are the ice levels. I'm not hating but after playing it i was dissappointed with some of the visuals but the game is amazing.

My list is mass effect 2,alan wake,brink,bad company 2 and undoubtedly God Of War 3.. Heavy rain looks great but something is missing not much is going on in the scenes so.

Uncharted 2 is amazing.

But early next year we got

GT5 (Suck it Forza) and GOD OF WAR 3 (does the 360 have any game that can be the counterpart to this?)

And the game that will look better than Uncharted 2 will probably be The Lat Guardian.

I remember when I first thought that the tide was turning for graphics and gameplay comparisons between the ps3 and xbox. It was after playing uc1 and ac1. The first time i played assassins creed 1, when I rode the horse, I just could't get how a "next-gen" developer could make a horses animation so inferior to even a ps2 game(namely sotc) agro's animation was so much better, and uncharted 1 was so much better than ac1, That I was thinking, well... ... here we go! PS3 ftw!

I seriously think these games hasn't reached what Uncharted 2 has ever done yet.. and that is genuinely combine great cinema and awe-inspiring gaming abilities.

I'm sure they will be good games but not as great as Uncharted 2.

Alan Wake is in no way going to challenge Uncharted 2. Especially when all the BEAUTIFUL and LARGE WORLD screenshots and videos were for the PC version. No way in hell the 360 version is going to look anywhere near THAT when it was demonstrating daisy chained graphics cards "Crossfire" and Quad core processors with around 4 gb of ram. And Splinter cell? LOL Unreal 3 Engine amazing us? That's a laugh. I can see Heavy Rain and God of War 3 challenging it, I can see Rage challenging it since id is known for huge graphics tech, but I don't see ASS creed 2 challenging it. Except in scope.

I looked at each image and immediately said "nope" after looking at all of them. All of those games pale in comparison to Uncharted 2. Don't get me wrong, they look good, but they don't touch Uncharted 2 when it comes to graphics.

I think GOW3 has more potential than Heavy rain for surpassing UC2's graphics mainly due to the epic proportion of titan levels. Rage looked good but the character models are borderline Doom3 level. The rest from that list has no chance by a country mile.

Everyone knows all these games will rape Uncharted on PC, and that is the flaw of PS3 games... They could be on PC, looking better, but instead Alan Wake will triumph.

IMO Uncharted 2 maxed out the PS3, so we're looking at future 360 games to surpass it.

I can name a dozen other games that could beat Uncharted 2 in the visuals department and I don't feel the need to dedicate an article to the subject.

As for the list itself, I don't agree with a few on the list, namely Alan Wake and Splinter Cell, both of which won't beat Uncharted visually. And no mention of games like Final Fantasy XIII or Gran Turismo 5? Those are some glaring omissions my friend.

Heavy Rain will be better if only because it's the type of game that won't need to use a ton of power elsewhere because it's not heavy action based. Heavy Rain is going to be all story and graphics. The story is supposed to be mature and the graphics are CG quality all the way. Go check out some screen grabs for the game.

Uncharted 2 is okay on its own, but fails to achieve any real significant improvements. It's still a 3rdPS Tomb Raider clone with a cover system borrowed from Gears of War.

Seriously, I challenge anyone to list $60 worth of innovations that Uncharted or Uncharted 2 brings NEW to this gen. It's great at what it does, but what does it do NEW?
