Heavy Rain release date coming soon

Nick @ PS3Center writes:

It seems the release date announcement is just around the bend, though. In a new video released to the Japanese PSN, Quantic Dream's CEO Guillaume de Fondaumiere takes us through two new scenes of the Japanese build of the game. At the conclusion of the video, Fondaumier drops the bomb, teasing at a release date.

I'm at odds with myself - I want the game ASAP, but I also want it to be spaced out from Sony's other big releases so it can sell well and succeed like it deserves.

Personally, this is my most-wanted game. I love Quantic Dream, I love David Cage, and I love the concept of this game. It's so unique and interesting. I can't wait to experience this story. I want it as soon as possible. In fact, if this, God of War 3, and Gran Turismo 5 all came out on the same day and I could only afford 1 of them, I would buy Heavy Rain first and hold off on the other two until I could afford them.

Heavy Rain is going to need more support from those of us who are actually interested in it for it to be a success.

GT5 and GOW3 will sell themselves, so in my opinion, if you're really interested in Heavy Rain, make sure you pick it up when it comes out, because it's a pretty niche title, and if the game doesn't succeed, we'll never see anything like it again, I suspect.

Finally, been waiting ages, already love this game. But I'm a little worried because Jack didn't include it in his "fiscal year" speech on PSBlog, so it may be coming later than we thought (which was march)

Along with The Last Guardian. It really seems to me like the evolution of graphic adventure gaming at the least hope there are other games made in the same vain in the future.

Please stop comparing video games to movies

"Many video games catch not only great commercial attention but remarkable critical attention as well. We have seen games like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us Part II, and even entries in the Metal Gear series described as fantastic interactive experiences, even heralded in the same way as Hollywood's greatest films.

I would suggest that not only is this an unfair comparison but also a harmful one. Video games, by their very nature, are an intricately different medium and should be weighed against one another rather than another form of media," Phillip writes for GF365.

Yes, please stop. They're better than most hollywood drivel nowadays.

I think Hollywood films will becoming increasingly more like video games in the future, especially as the world embraces the "new normal" from the pandemic. It makes sense, as games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcase just how realistically we're reaching in graphical capabilities, as well as showcase extreme action sequences in spectacular ways. And as time goes by, it'll get easier and cheaper to produce such "art", as well as create new star "actors" that never age, never die, never complain, never gets involved in scandals, etc. Technology is amazing and we're only just getting a taste of what it'll eventually be.

No. Some games are like movies.

medman2013d ago (Edited 2013d ago )

No. For the money spent, a quality game provides far more entertainment value than a quality movie. Especially when looking at what is going on in the world, and how a studio can attempt to pilfer from consumers by charging 30 dollars for Mulan via streaming. Ridiculous. There is no comparison....games all day.
