Sounds a lot like the Xbox drones here at N4G. You look at a typical posting day at N4G. N4G by no means is a casual gamer site (IMO). A lot of the issues have been blown out of proportion. Comparisons have been done since day one with the minority spewing opinions rather than facts.

Now, even the casual gamer will run to the gaming sites and message boards for reviews and opinions. We are educated consumers .. and yes I said consumers but even the educated consumer can get his/her opinion altered by nonsense.

He's not blaming anyone and he didnt mention the PS3 as being a failure, which it is not.

We are a good sample group of what the mass market is thinking. Since we are the most vocal our reach will be heard since nobody else cares to say anything to oppose it. And it is a fact that we are the most informed about the situation so people tend to listen to us.

It is not a good sign for Sony that every site is littered with Sony bashers because this idea is being feed to the mass market as well.

Personally, I think that MS and Sony should stop subsidizing their hardware. Sell the consoles at the cost of manufacture. If they cost too much, scale them back. That way consoles can return to being the cost effective gaming choice for consumers, and PC will continue to be the high-cost high-performance solution.

And when it comes to the PS2, I still am. But I have to admit that I'm kind-of pissed off at Sony right now. I think that the PS3 is simply a Trojan Horse for the Blue-ray movie format. I agree that overall, the PS2 had better games than the Xbox (minus the multiplayer ones) but remember that it was the least powerful console of the last generation.

Most people DO NOT want to pay $599 for a console right now. How many people care about 1080p? Read the developer interviews in PSM about DMCIV and NG: Sigma, both games are going to be in 720p because only a tiny fraction of people will be able to tell the difference (plus the framerates weren't where they wanted them to be at 1080p). It's the same thing with Blu-ray. Yeah, I can see the argument for storage, but neither Blu-ray or HD-DVDs are flying off the shelves right now.

As far as I'm concerned Sony tried to tell consumers what they wanted rather than actually give them what they wanted. And now they're paying for it in slow sales, bad press and non-in house developers lambasting them left and right.

Oh, and I also traded in my PS3 for a 360 Elite too. And the guy at EB told me that I wasn't the first...

sony,s ps3 is top end quality no doubt, it has alot of years in it its not even a year old and everyone talks about price that is the bottom line.remember sony has 3 platforms out there with the ps2 out selling xbox it doesn,t say alot about that system.The wi is fun but as a long term system it could fade due to download isssues and graphics, people i know have already got rid so sony knows great games that other systems cant even think about will be key to sales they need to be that good

I play my Xbox 360 3 times more then I ever play My PS3. I mean the only reason I turn the PS3 on these days is to check and see if the beta hit the playstation store, and that's it.

Games Make or Break a system everyone knows that, so no matter how sweet it is designed if there are no games right now then why would people be run out and get it.

Sony - FYI - Here is how you save PS3

1.release the beta's to everyone - and I mean everyone
2.talk about the updates to the system so people know what's coming and that work is being done.
3.Start working on the part two's to your system sellers - Resistance & Motorstorm. They will push sales again when the Part two's are done. (and are you crazy start making GOD OF WAR III )
4.Hop on Little Big Planet's thunder and promote it like crazy.
5. Fix the dam Web browser the thing sucks - update flash - make the browser faster.
6.Add Much more content to the Playstation store. More Gametrailers and Movie trailers. Add some Podcasts, or Video blogs.
7. Get Joost to run on My PS3
8. Get the dam rumble controllers out already, what the hell is taking so long
9. Let people change the wallpaper in the background add IM make a sony bluetooth head set, and add prepaid cards or paypal for payment options.
10. And the number one thing Sony can do to save the PS3- Cut the price by a hundred dollars.. (don't worry you will get it back in games)

The ps3 may be worth $850.It sells for $600, but to the majority of people who want to buy it, it isn't worth more than $300. So they will wait for the price drop. That's it plain and simple. This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
