What i missed in R2 was the crazy weapons that the first one had the Splitter was my favorite gun in R1 I felt the weapons in R2 was rushed out in development. So hopefully R3 will have crazy/fun weapons to use, plus I miss the ability to carry all weapons I mean your up against an entire army of Chimera atleast give us the ability to use more than a crappy Carbine or Bullseye. Plus I miss the GreyJacks you know the tall skinny Chimera that would pummel you into the ground.

R2 was a good game. i wasnt blown away by it though. the guns felt really weak. i havent touched the game in months.

im probably gonna skip on R3 unless insomniac does something really amazing with it. with games like killzone 2 and uncharted 2, then MAG and possibly Kilzone 3 on the way, R3 will have its work cut out for it.

R2 improved on FOM in everyway, but lost its personality. Tbh, FOM didn't have a fantastic story. It was explained better through narration, but I think they both were about equal.

R3 needs the campaign and multiplayer of the first, and the coop of the second. Even though I enjoyed the multiplayer in R2, I missed the weapon wheel.

These guys got everything right. This exactly what R3 needs.

IMO R:FOM's single player campaign was way better than R2's. It's honesty one of the best single player experiences I have ever had in a game. The fear factor in some of the levels was so intense, especially the northern command bunker level.

i agree, R2 wasn't nearly as good as Fall of Man. The grit and darkness of FOM is what made it a great game. R2 left that formula entirely. Yeah R2 intruduced some massive scale battles but some dark winding corridors with crazy invisible enemies wielding scyth arms and fire breath around every corner would be great.

I don't see why they don't put all 3 campaigns on the disk and have co-op on all of them, that would make up for Res2's lack of co-op.

What R3 needs is to be more like the original R1. They can keep the addictive amazing fun co-op from R2 though. R2 disappointed in story,it needed the British lady like part 1 and some of the directions it took was bad. The multiplayer sucked because everyone spammed the annoying electric powers and they tried to make it like cod 4. They need the story similar to R1 and go back to the R1 muiltiplayer. They just need to do that and improve from there. Add a lot more weapons that are creative,etc

R2 was a mixed bag of great and lame. Next installment, instead of focusing on a short developement cycle, they should emphasize the quality of the game

I sold it right after i completed it. The story was weak, i didn't get attached to any of the characters (who pretty much looked like the main character) and the graphics were pretty bad too. Though some sections looked brilliant (like the background of San Francisco being obliterated) I could easily find many other sections with absolutely no polish.

The glitches were killer, too. I actually lost a boss fight because a turret from across the level was able to see me through the various walls and shoot at me. Insomniac had a lot of ambition, but they need to slow down their release dates and actually put out a polished sequel this time around.

they should do what uncharted 2 did, make the game a master peice. we all know that insomniac has what it takes to make a killer game.

i hope hale remains dead, but if for some reason he is not somebody should sew his mouth shut because as soon as he started talking in r2 i stopped liking him as a charecter. he wasn't funny and was just a pain. game charecters shouldnt talk unless they have a well thought out personality, like nathan drake. he is the best charecter in any game funny, heroic, and he is somebody everybody can relate to (he is an everyman)

i love resistence game play the graphix are good they could be better.

i really enjoyed the 1st and 2nd but they could do better and i hope they nail it down next year.

I agree so much with this article. I really would love to see the mysterious nature and darker colors of FOM return. I so would love to see the Weapon wheel make a return. Plus bring back all the weapons from both FOM and R2. I also would love to see vehicles also come back for the campaign.

I really loved the idea of Boss battles in R2 and would love to see Insomniac grow on what they did with R2 and this time make them more harder to kill. The old health system in FOM worked fine and so I would love to see that too make a return.

I loved in FOM the dark underground tunnels and that you never knew what was going to happen. To me it felt almost like an Alien film seeing as you are in the dark and are not sure in what spot the creatures will pop out at you. So I would love to see you have to fight in Tunnels and have the Chimera needing the snow to survive again.

I so want to have the split-screen co-op campaign mode back from FOM. I think it would be cool to see may be having James Grayson from R:R as the second person. So that way you get to have two awesome fighters in the story mode. Because I liked playing with my friends not online in the first and even though Co-op was really cool in R2 I just liked being able to play the story mode with a friend.

Plus bringing back the Chimera from both FOM and R2 would also be cool. So if all this can happen having the best of FOM and R2 then R3 will be super incredible.

IMO it needs a more realistic look and a different color palette.

Resistance 2 was better than FOM in terms of content and scale, but the game felt incomplete in terms of polish and attention to detail in the visual and story departments.

They need to upgrade their engine, use a different one or increase development time so they can polish the game as much as they can without the "new game each year" pressure.

IMO... Overall the game was average and didn't live up to the hype when it came to the complete single player experience.

For Resistance 3 to be any good it has to be more like Resistance: fall of man and less like Resistance 2

It needs what was not in Resistance 2 and which was featured in the first Resistance and that is the variety of weapons in the multiplayer. What makes RFOM's multiplayer superior to R2 was that awesome feature where you get to choose as many weapons as you find varying from a shotgun to a bullseye to a sniper to a flamethrower all together. In R2 you can only equip 1 main weapon and a pistol and that was boring. I hope they bring back that feature in R3 or I may not consider buying it.

Regenerating health is a great idea...so, let's keep it. Unless you can come up with a new health system...don't do health packs. Both ways are pretty unrealistic anyway. Lol.

what the hell happened to the large-scale battles from R:FoM? there was only one big battle in R2.
also, i was expecting more depth to the story in R2 (not to mention more about what was happening in Russia)

After RFOM, I'm pretty sure people were criticizing the game because the narration made Hale's character difficult to connect with.
Also people were saying how SO many shooters were the same old gray in color, "generic" in a sense. In fact, that was a huge criticism of Gears of War as well.
Insomniac took those criticisms and changed it for R2. They axed the narration, gave Hale a voice, and made the environments less one-note. Now people are criticizing what they changed.
I don't discount that many people like the old one better. I'm just confused as to whether these are the same people complaining the first time around or different people. I don't think anything that Insomniac does will satisfy everyone. They can only hope to please the majority, or the most vocal minority.
Anyways, I liked both of them about the same.

I liked R1 better for their ambience and sense of scale when you fought the chimera I mean you literally thought your were fighting a loosing battle and i loved how you were always overwhelmed in the first game were the second game I literally ran through the game rambo style. I just wish they would bring back the r1 formula it felt unique and on a league of its own. R2 was good but it felt like all the other shooters out there.

I am sorry to say but I would like online co-op R2 had it but it wasn't what I thought it was I would like it where a buddy and I can play camapigns together. It is still one of my fav shooters for the PS3 but what Insomniac could do also is have a mode where you play as the aliens and shoot up the humans like a differant sidestory to the game.

I agree. I felt that insomniac really stripped out all the good stuff from the first game.

What i really want is a darker game. infact i want it bordering on a horror game. You could see parts of this in the first game with pitch balck levels with the wolves hiding in places, they really created atmosphere and somethimes in the dark Id really be crawling along with my flashlight looking for enemies.

Also make it so your teammates die more again!!! I loved how in the first you relaly had to do well to keep your guys alive for later on, and them somethimes youd be going along happily and suddenly a horrible attack would kill them all, meaving you alone and feeling helpless. It was incredible.

Make it scarier, make the chimera much more horrific, blood stains, bugger, spikier teeth, make them look evil. More lone dark missions would be great, but take inspiration from games like fear which used set pieces to really make things freaky.

Mostly though vring back how easy it was for your teammates to die, that really made you play much better as if you did well you were rewarded with a larger force to help you.

All 3 resistance were great. Wish they would do 4 already…

This is my favourite FPS campaign.

Resistance 3 was the worst in the series. Story was dumb and wrapped things up in a terrible way. The multiplayer and gun play was absolute CoD wannabe garbage. No evolution on the amazing Coop in the 2nd game. The cover art was the only thing good about it lol.

I’d settle for a new AAA campaign driven FPS with some sci fi elements in a new IP. Sonys first party stuff is good, but too many 3rd person open world adventure games with upgrading equipment and skill trees (Tsushima, Horizon, Spider-Man). Sadly hardly anyone is making AAA single player FPS anymore, even Doom and Wolfenstein seem to be dormant

I would love Resistance and Killzone but I also want them to bring back Wild Arms another good franchise under their belt. Even a new Sly Cooper game Jak and Daxter

Tell me a franchise Sony has brought back that did better than previous iterations? and no God of War wasn't gone for a significant amount of time before it was rebooted. The fact is both those franchises didn't have the IT factor and they tried everything. Another Killzone or Resistance isn't what Sony needs right now unless your goal is to try and get Sony to make more mistakes. Which knowing IGN is probably their angle. Sony need brand new fresh IP's
