Borderlands Review | JPS

JPS Writes: "Gameplay mechanics are often mimicked and recycled in today's games. We've seen games copy each others ideas and most of the time, it's either a flop or a success. Borderlands is a game that recycles a lot of things from other titles such as Fallout 3, Call of Duty and Halo..."

Its_The_Truth

RememberThe3576062d ago (Edited 6062d ago )

Words like "truth" and "fact" aren't nearly as concrete as we'd like them to be. The word truth is defined as "something factual". Yet the definition of fact is "something known to be true". Knowledge is defined as: information in mind. So, if he believes it to be true then it is fact, to him.

By him saying "Its_The_Truth" he is in effect saying "In_My_Mind_It' s_Ture".

This semantics shows us that nothing is really as clear as it seems.

@Campy da Camper: Great quote. Bubbles.

Campy da Camper6062d ago

I'm a die hard PS3 lover but the above poster is right. Are they not teaching Philosophy in schools anymore? Thales was one of the first to get into "truth"..."To one the water in the river might seem cold. To another, warm. Which one speaks the truth? Both, for each the reality of their belief is an absolute yet to the other it is in error."

Tachyon_Nova6062d ago

I have to admit to not being a fan of RPG's. I never really got into Fallout 3, although I liked Oblivion. So the question is, do I buy this game or not?

Myst6062d ago

Bubbles for the quote, just bubbles for that...

Also I don't think they are teaching philosophy as much as they used to (as some would say).

oh this time it's an RPG, too

played R2's co-op a lot and i found shooting AI gets boring fast if that's all you do and if it takes dozen of bullet to down the enemy.

look like a pass and get r&c:acit, which has platforming and a lot of variety.

chrisulloa6062d ago

based on 1 review from a website no one knows/cares about.

Alpha_Gamer6062d ago

You go ahead and pass then. Nobody really cares. I can`t take you too seriously if you`re buying YET ANOTHER ratchet game over a massive open world fps rpg, but whatever, dont let me stop you.

themyk6062d ago

while i too am waiting for ratchet. i'll be getting boarderlands for sure. game looks sweet. and i can't wait for it.

Polluted6062d ago

This game will be $40 in Canada for the first week at WalMart, Best Buy and FutureShop. Start pinching pennies kids. You don't wanna miss that deal.

electricshadow6062d ago

Do you know why it is, Polluted? =)

PrimordialSoupBase6062d ago

Publisher or retailer experiment on a smaller region that's similar in its spending habits to the US.

That's my guess.

lord_of_balrogs6062d ago

Nope, Walmart brings it down to 40 for unknown reasons. BestBuy and Future Shop promise that they will match everything the competition does. So this forces them to bring it down to 40 as well.

Sigh6062d ago (Edited 6062d ago )

thanks for letting me know. 40$ is worth a deal!

TheIneffableBob6062d ago

It's $40 on GoGamer for Americans.

PrimordialSoupBase6062d ago

"Walmart brings it down to 40 for unknown reasons."

That was my point exactly, what's the incentive?

vickers5006062d ago

@IneffableBob

Uh, no it isn't, unless you have some sort of discount code.

There is definitely no pre-release demo and Gearbox hasn't confirmed a demo at all as of yet.

Alpha_Gamer6062d ago

Not the greatest review. I`m still getting it on tuesday. This game was just made for me.

ever since XIII came out I really loved the cell shaded artstyle in games. I probably wouldn't have tried it if it didn't have such a style like that

Despite Borderlands Movie Flop, Series Saw Boost in Sales; Take-Two to Be Selective on Licensing IPs

Take-Two admits the Borderlands movie was disappointing, though it still contributed to the game catalog's sales.

-Foxtrot561d ago

"we don’t really need to break out the contribution from the film because while it was economically positive"

Come on, there was nothing positive about it, it literally bled money...not really economically.

Daeloki560d ago

No there was not. The same way there was no Dragon Ball live action movie, nor an Avatar the Last Airbender live action movie :)

RhinoGamer88560d ago

Polish a turd to make a what?!

DefenderOfDoom2560d ago (Edited 560d ago )

So the movie cost 155 million to produce and another 30 million dollars to promote . Borderlands movie brought in around 31 million worldwide . So basically, the Borderlands movie was a 154 million commercial for Borderlands video game franchise.
