Top Five Killer Apps for Xbox 360

Examiner: Because the Xbox 360 shares so many "exclusive" games with the PC, it dampens the system's selection of killer apps. Even so, Microsoft's second video game system has plenty of system-selling software.

Halo on its own kills anything ps3 has in game-play and in SALES.

Saaking6078d ago

nope, just in sales. Halo fails at everything else.

chrisulloa6078d ago

Nope Halo is probably the most successful franchise of this generation. It is great in all perspectives, only a moron would disagree.

The real killer6078d ago

Hale has a great big fanbase, that's why people buy a 360, just for Halo and play for Halo, but for outhers games, i don't think so.

cyborg69716078d ago

Didn't we already go through this on the top ten exclusives? And it was found that halo is last gen in graphics and gameplay. By the way five sounds about right for the amount of exclusives that are left in the lifecyle of the 360.

cereal_killa6078d ago (Edited 6078d ago )

Wii Fit, Wii Play, Wii Sports all say Hi! will you quit with this bullsh!t crap about how sales = quality you people all go around and claim this game is a flop that game is a flop because it doesn't have Halo sales if that's the case every game is a flop because they don't have Gran Turismo Sales or Mario sales. As long as Sony an M$ are happy with how there games sell it's no concern to you none of you work for either company and own no stock of any of the games that are made so stop being pathetic little "I PLAY SALES" Muppet's an just enjoy the games you play.

kevinx10006078d ago

you mean YOU fail at halo. 10 games won out of the 150.
you even said you play it because you like it and it's so much fun yourself. GTFO.

The only real system seller for the 360 is Halo 3. That's it. Like somerandomdude posted in another story:

"I have a theory every 360 owner owns their 360 for the sake of playing Halo. Not even MS's other exclusive even come close in sales.

To put it in perspective

Halo 3 first week sales = 3,815,444 (this is a top seller)

360's 2nd highest selling exclusive is Gears of War @ 910,931 in a week (nearly 3 million less than Halo 3)
Gears of War will end up behind U2's first week sales if they do end up at the 1 million mark

The 360's 3rd highest selling exclusive is Forza 2 at 351,311 in it's first week (U2's first day sales on one continent are competing with that tittle)"

That says it all.

chrisulloa6078d ago

Yeah, if you had a 360 that wouldn't be the case. There's an load of games that you can ONLY play on the 360 console, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Fable 2, Crackdown, Forza 3, and Left 4 Dead. All of which would make anyone want to buy a 360, in fact L4D, Mass Effect, and Halo 3 all made me want to buy my 360. When I was deciding whether to buy a 360 or PS3 I started looking up the games. I didn't see anything on the PS3 that looked remotely interesting. There are no iconic titles on PS3, well none that are really great. It wasn't until Uncharted 2 that I saw an interesting game. Also, glad Microsoft is so great at marketing their products, or else their sales would be that of the PS3's.

morganfell6078d ago

Exactly Bot. So many...PC games.

Sunny_D6078d ago

So, should I play the games on the superior Pc or play it on the gimped outdated pc uh I mean 360?

MetalGearRising6078d ago

As if ps3 has any system sellers.....Actually they have KillZone 2....nope that failed to move any consoles well how about Uncharted or Little Big Fart or Resistance 2.....Nope they failed to sell also just like MGS4 so please enlighten me what's a system seller on ps3 if any.

Saaking6078d ago

MGS4 was the PS3's system seller as will be GT5.

Halo3 MLG Pro6078d ago

Damn a lot of people are talking sales here. You guys realize that Killzone 2 hasn't even reached the sales of Viva Pinata??? :)

ZombieAutopsy6078d ago (Edited 6078d ago )

you do realize Viva Pinata has been out for almost 3 years and Kz2 is not even at 1 yet right, and im pretty sure Kz2 has outsold it. I realize your just trying to blow smoke because of all the Sony fanboys in here but still...its the same situation with MS fanboys in PS articles.

Pirateogta6078d ago (Edited 6078d ago )

Did you just make up those numbers? The only one you got right is Halo 3 and you left most of the 360's biggest sellers out.

Halo 3 sold 3,815,444 copies in its first week.
Halo 3: ODST sold 2,208,600 copies in its first week.
Gears of War 2 sold 1,896,244 copies in its first week.
Fable II sold 1,013,722 copies in its first week.

And how can you possibly compare GeOW's sales to UC2's sales? GeOW came out in 2006 as a new IP and UC2 came out last week as a sequel to a popular game. There are more than 5 times as many PS3s sold now as there were 360's sold back in 2006 and GeOW's first week sales, according to you, still beat UC2's. Do you realize how absolutely pathetic that makes UC2's sales look?

This is the second similar story in a day. Looks like we will begin seeing an upswing in such media as websites move to help prop up Microsoft. What's next? oh, I know. The PS3 is doomed...again. No, really this time it is.

6078d ago
HolyOrangeCows6078d ago (Edited 6078d ago )

Halo 3, Gears 2, and Forza 3.....yes.

Crackdown and Fable 2....not really.

ShadowCK6078d ago (Edited 6078d ago )

Oh my God, Why are Sony fanboys coming onto this article with their bull****?

GTFO, This is Xbox news.

Tinted Eyes6078d ago

Oh please, like xbox fanboys in Uncharted articles? Deal with it.

jimbone6078d ago

I know right? I am glad I don't use that excuse. Oh I did it because he did it, He acted like a complete moron first so I am going to act the same way, That will show'em. Tinted Eyes, one day that 3-year-old mentality is going to have to stop. It really makes you look bad (not that you care... the 360 fanboy did it first). How old are you?, because I have already taught my 6-year-old son that doesn't work.

morganfell6078d ago

You realize of course your question answers itself. Others may not see that but of course, being chief spokesman, you knew this.

The 16078d ago

"Because the Xbox 360 shares so many “exclusive” games with the PC, it dampens the system’s selection of killer apps."

Way to spin the 360's lineup. You can only get 360 games on the 360 in the console market, regardless of them being on Microsoft's windows platform. Not on PS3 still falls under exclusives because one of the meanings of "exclusive" is to *exclude*

@1.4
Two 360 fans in uncharted articles is not an excuse for armies of PS3 fanboys to troll 360 articles when ever they see them.

morganfel6078d ago (Edited 6078d ago )

What does teh PS3 have to do with this thread, frustrated because of software sales are we?

6078d ago
Limited_Vertigo6078d ago

Morgan was simply pointing out that this same article is simply a duplicate of a similar article just a day/days ago. I think by now everyone has an understanding of what the top games for the 360 are (Halo3 is on the list?, well I'll be damned).

Just becuase he's a "Sony" guy doesn't mean he can't voice his displeasure in seeing a spamming of sorts on similar articles that offer little to no valid new information. Especially if he does so in a mature way.

BTW just becuase there is a differing opinion being represented does not mean there is "trolling" going on.

TheDeadMetalhead6078d ago (Edited 6078d ago )

"BAAAAAAAAAW SONY FANBOYS BAAAAAAAAAAW" - What some people in this thread sound like.

On-topic: 3-5 are all very good games. 1-2 are overrated crap.

1. Orange Box
2. Mass Effect
3. Fable II
4. PGR3/4
5. GTAIV

Yes, I know only two up there are actually exclusive, but that shouldn't matter. A good game is a good game.

Sheikh Yerbouti6078d ago

Insert Mass Effect. For the time Bio-Shock was a timed exclusive, it was more of a system seller than Crackdown. The Halo 3 beta sold Crackdown. It is still benefiting from it in my opinion.

Dude4206078d ago (Edited 6078d ago )

Hey man, did you finish Uncharted 2 yet?

PS3 Fanboy: LEAVE ME ALONE!!!! I'M BUSY TROLLING N4G NEWS!!!!! I DON'T HAVE TO TIME TO FINISH IT DUUURRRRR!!!! 360 BASHING T3H MO4R IMPORTANT DURRRRRR!!!

flash746077d ago

Fable 2 had an unbelievably crappy ending, and Crackdown was so-so. The games that are missing are: Gears 1 (which is the reason I bought a 360), Mass Effect (which is far better than Fable 2 could even hope to be), and lastly, Orange Box (which was easily the most bang for your buck we've seen in a while).

Forza 3? Killer app?
Fable 2? Killer app?
Crackdown? Killer app?

Can someone define "killer app" for me?

StanLee6078d ago

LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2. You know, games that are suppose to sell a system but don't?

Isaac6078d ago

"LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2. You know, games that are suppose to sell a system but don't? "

Oh, then Xbox has a flood of Killer Apps in japan.

AliTheBrit196078d ago

Fable II is an amazing game =)

Gears of War is also an enjoyable franchise, but Fable II stole my heart, as much as LittleBigPlanet did..

Damn, 2008 had some really awesome games.. was a better year than this year

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.
