Yes i cant wait and the best version is on the PS3. :) Pro is one of my favourite games.

It's not a narrative/linear sort of thing, so putting it on two discs won't work at all. It's almost like GTA: Imagine you having to switch discs everytime you enter the limits of another area/city. It just wont work... A very similar case with sports games.

if it had real time field deformation. like if its rainy, the corners of the field would be all torn up and make the ball move slower or something.. if they did that and had realtime weather changes and wind, i can see that taking up a decent amount of space... and full cloth animation, emotional players, homefield morale etc..

Amazing how people never learn....just like RFoM was 22 gb when it was in reality less then 5 gb, and elder scrolls, the PS3 bluray drive is too slow so they need to fluff it out so it runs faster, taking up more space on the PS3...it'll be quite a long time till any sports game takes up more then a DVDs worth of space under normal circumstances.

firstly more gb doesn't equal better game. Full HD does offer a more immersing experience (meaning if you have a HD tv)
10 extra GB could be useful to run a full hd game smoothly.

Even though the ps3 version might be better the game will still sell better on the xb360 cause of the larger install base. Especially in europe,where soccer is popular and sony launched their console kinda late.

Why did games switch from cartriges to CD's to DVD's?

If this turns out to be true and I was Microsoft, I wouldnt bother having the game on the 360 in the future, that seabass bloke was going on about the 360 being a next generation console, so if the article turns out to be true, they are forcing many gamers who own a next gen system to feel left out which is very wrong and will start a idiotic fanboy war. Despite Pro Evo 6's problems on the 360, it sold very well and if Konami have one brain cell between them they would make a just as good 360 version because at the end of the day money matters and a lot of people in europe by xmas 07 will still own a 360 and not a PS3. The PS3 will really take off here in europe next year, when the price comes down. £400 for a console with no games is just silly. When I say no games I mean bundled with the system at purchase. I intend to buy one but for the current price and choice of games its just not worth it really.

In Oblivion they still had enough space to use 1.5-2 more GB of data. They didn't because thats the way they design their games.

Ok, you know what's funny to me.. How people can really complain about something that really wasn't a problem before. For example, I know Final Fantasy had more disc to switch out, and no one had a problem with it. The player would get his happy a$% up and change the disc and keep playing. Now, all of a sudden it's a problem? If MG4 had taken up 4 disc people will still skip down to their nearest game store and buy it. It's getting ridiculous now. Now to me, there is no way in hell a sports game needs that much memory something doesn't seem right or we are getting half the information as of right now. With a game having so much stuff in it means the developers have to spend more time and money on. Which in the long run means games aren't going to be 59.99 for long.

All they have to do is leave it a 720p and let the scaler chip handle the rest. easy fix.

People should appreciate that more disk space will always be better than less. At some point developers at the cutting edge will always use the maximum disk space you give them - this is a fact of life. Computing capacity has always grown over time. Cassette tape => 5 1/4 inch floppy => 3 1/2 inch floppy => CD => DVD => Blu-Ray/HD DVD. It's the nature of the business. The same people who said 18gb is not needed are the same people who said DVD weren't needed. Technology moves on and in this era of High Definition there will be no such thing as too much disk space - those who say it is not needed are clearly not learning the lessons of the past.

Maybe the PS3 version of PES7 will support 1080P and that's why 18GB and the xbox 360 version if the game will support only 720P to fit in a 9GB DVD.

Thats why so much space is needed, the cell/rsx ala & OS can't make a game w/o alot of effort at the same size as an Xbox 360 game.

Sony compression is almost non exhistant unless they wish to take 3 yrs. to makre it. In other words, the game will be equally as good or better on a DVD on the Xbox 360 vs 18 gig's on ps3.

xbox fanboy will have a lot of fun in changing disks in the future, but wait xbox720 will come in one year, so thats no problem at all.

There will no doubt be two versions of the game. There is no way to play a sports game on two discs, it's just ridiculous and defeats all logic. They will develop one game specifically for the Playstation 3, and one for the XBOX360. It may or may not be the same game in the end, but chances are, they'll be close, but different enough to warrant a entire team to develop for it separately.

in order to fit on one disc; they don't have much of a choice. It's impossible to ask users to swap discs because so much data would have to be made redundant that 3 or 4 discs would be needed then.

This is exactly what Sony has been pushing for, and in fact they are providing tools and guidance for 3rd party developers so that PS3 is the primary development platform. They have a right to say this as it's easier to port from the PS3 to the 360, and not the other way around (redundant programming functions, etc). EA has been tossing around this idea (as evidenced with Madden 07's higher-res textures), but we'll see how far such developers actually utilize Blu-ray's enormous capacity.

the reason its 18 gb is because of the multiple regions. they can put ALL regions ,languages an text on one disc. as to weres they would have to print different disc for the different regions for the 360. just like they been doing for years with the dreamcast,ps1,ps2,360, PC's. so its not a big deal. why do you guys think the PS3 doesnt have any region locks, that way ALL game dics can play on any system. that way the can cram the disc with everything, which makes it seem as if Blu ray is needed an a must have for next gen!!

Actually now that i think about it X360 DVD's can't hold 9gb they can only hold 7.5gb. So if this was to come out with the full 18gb it'd take up at least 3 discs not 2....

If this is true, bravo to Konami for taking advantage of the console with the most potential, not just porting over the weakest version. This is why I agree with the "Start on PS3" philosophy. I wish Rockstar were doing the same. It makes no sense to handicap this generation because of machines with different capabilities and Xbox owners AREN'T going to get a worse version then they would have anyway. It will still be as good as they can make it. It just means PS3 owners won't get an Xbox port like a lot of the games we've seen so far. I'm surprised people haven't been talking more about this since Naughty Dog told us the Uncharted Demo wouldn't fit on a DVD. I bought VF5 for my PS3 an I'm really rally impressed with that game, the graphics are top notch, but... when the 360 version comes out I wanna see if there's gonna be a difference in the graphics between the 2, an if theres online play, because if it is then I'm gonna be really mad about that!!

What has blu-ray video games accomplished so far??? Resistance used most of the blu-ray and it only accomplished 10-12 hours of gameplay with average/good graphics. Motorstorm also used most of the blu-ray disc and it only had about 5 tracks. Not impressed by the inclusion of blu ray in the ps3.

Only for real next gen. console or downgrade confirmed.

Resistance could even be done on a DL-DVD, only Sony knows it needs its first party titles to push the BluRay format... So lots of uncompressed, bad programming and filling up with nonsense stuff to get the GB's up.

you say DONT compare the 360 version of the same game to the Ps3 version!! why not!! if you try an compare differnt games you cant really show the same parts an angles correct. we were able to compare same last gen games with no problem, an dont say those games werent built for the PS2 because you know they were an they still looked better on the xbox 1.so why cant they same thing happen with the supposed more powerful PS3.

Why 4 Live Arcade games (released in a pack) takes 7 GB, while I own some of them on PC and they are less than 20 MB.

As mentioned before the compression helps a lot and developers don't have time to write longer game couse if they've written 9GB of pure game without movies and sound their progress would be similar to Duke Nuke For(n)ever.

A 2 hour 1080p movie can be in standard format(BR,HDdvd) and it would take let's say 20GB - a 2 hour movie in H.264 would take only 4GB.

Similar is for audio.

Everybody knows that PS3 and 360 use different game/texture compression. It's not like 360 can do better or PS3 can do better.
The important thing is that developers have the GOOD challenge to find the best way to put a game inside a disc, DVD ou Blu-Ray.

You mean xbox games won't get bigger. As for the PS3, games are already showing an increase in size...and this is a fact, not something I made up. As reported by the Naughty Dog Developers the demo level of Uncharted is already too big for a dvd. Factor 5 has already admitted to using more than 16gb's, Resistance- a launch title used the same, so what then is the basis of your comment? I already know the responses I'm going to get, but..but teh compression. but..but..teh graphics is not teh gears. Denial is not a river in Egypt. This is not an attack on xbox fans or ps1h1ch. More so my observation on responses to comments such as these. We will have to wait and see what differences there are between this title for either system. Its for padding to decrease the load times of the game and on top of that you will probably still have to install most of the game onto the hard drive to make it load a bit quicker.

Am also assuming it will have in game HD movies etc things that are NOT required.

They will most probably have less intro movies, less victory movies for teams etc.

And most probably split the teams - national teams on one DVD and premier league teams etc on other DVD. Meaning you most probably on XB360 will not be able to play Liverpool against Germany national team etc.

Not the biggest deal in the world - well... for me anyway as I don't plan on getting a XB360.

And no - it is not for "padding" to improve loading times. They will rather use disk caching for that - easier to do - and simply a football game is not going to need very high streaming speeds.

Blu-Ray is too small for a game like spore. The only way for a game like spore to work is if everything is generated procedurally.

I wonder how big 360 games are when they are not compressed. I think this is more like whats going on. It takes processing power to uncompress the data. And it saves time for the programmers.
