IncGamers' John Robertson gets his hands on the upcoming HD remake of the first Serious Sam game.
From the preview: "If you're new to the franchise and unsure of what Serious Sam can offer then the most important thing to take away is that this is a game interested in only one thing - all-out visceral carnage on a level that borders on the ridiculous. After playing the game for the first time in a number of years, what immediately sticks out is just how much the first-person shooter genre has changed in recent years. Whereas modern shooters tend to focus on a mixture of shooting, exploration and – to differing degrees - narrative integrity, Serious Sam focuses entirely on shooting, harking back to simpler days in which games were usually defined by a single gameplay element."

Dealspwn reports: "This is a ridiculous deal as you'll get Serious Sam 2, Serious Sam 3: BFE, Serious Sam Classic: First Encounter, Serious Sam Classic: Second Encounter, Serious Sam Double D, Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter, Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter, Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter - Legend of the Beast, and Serious Sam: The Random Encounter... i.e. all of the Serious Sam ever, basically... for seven quid."

Nice to see Serious Sam back. Looks quite nice too.
John Robertson's on the money I think - it doesn't look phenomenal but it looks good enough that I'm going to pick this up as soon as I can. I've got Serious Sam lying around anyway, but the ease of playing it on 360 and the HD graphics should make it a worthy purchase.
Very interesting. It's like looking in a history book, since the generations of video games are much quicker than generations of people.
Serious Sam presents an era in video games comparable to what what early industrialisation represents to mankind :)
Note: The reference was about time periods, I am not implying Serious Sam is about exploitation, or whatever you specifically associate industrialism with
Why so serious?
