I agree that the DS is a solid system, and actually can cater to a diverse group of consumers.

It's like the saying, "It's selling like hot cakes" but the DS is outselling hotcakes 300:1. So when hot cakes get a nice bump in sales, the saying is now "It's selling like DS's"

Yeah, the DSi now has an added camera, with a ton of applications and games that use it pretty creatively. It's not the greatest quality though. Probably the same as a medium quality webcam.

It was cool at first. "At first" being key. I used it for about a week and went back to playing dragon quest, never using it again.

The new startup OS is way better though. Really disliked the regular DS one.

I'll tell you who keeps buying those DS systems. Nintendo. You see what they do is, they make a profit on the Nintendo Wii and all of their other products, and so in order to raise the popularity of the DS, they buy it back in large numbers. They don't lose any money by buying it because the profit they make from the Wii and everything else they make covers it. And then people who read the news that the DS sold 250,000 units a month become curious and they go buy it, thus making more profit for Nintendo.

That's my theory. And yes, I am joking.

In all seriousness though, I believe the DS sells so much because it's actually a requirement in some schools to have one for some kind of educational game. At least from what I read.
