I'm all for the Wii, but this is a very biased way of writing. You can obviously tell this guy is pro-wii. That shouldn't happen.

Sony had to make a decision that would affect the ps3. When MS and nintendo announced their release dates, sony was given two options: Release the PS3 earlier than they would of liked to or wait 'till fall '08 and risk losing the the edge on next-gen, much like the original XBOX.

Of course, they chose the first option, and naturally, sales aren't stellar. And why should they be, the console has very few games and little extra content. If you look at the fall, where the psn store will be updated, Home will be out and a large amount of great games are released. Things should pick up then. But right now, the lauch date buzz is over and nothing good has come out, so of course sales are low. But i think Sony knows this very well. They are only a few percentage below their projection. People keep saying Sony is losing money. Yes they are, the 600$ that people find too expensive actually cost close to 1K to build. SOny is losing 250$ on every system sold. This is because the technology is too new. If they would of had their fall '08 release, then a) they could of made money on the consoles themselves and b) you could of expected a slightly lower price (but not by that much).

Sony has a difficult decision to make. I think they still saw potential in the ps2 (god of war 2 had great graphics for a last gen console) and would of rather waited a year or so for the release of PS3. But that would of given the 360 two years and the wii one over Sony, which long term could of a huge blow (again, look at xbox). They opted to release it earlier and live through a year of bad sales. So to all those Sony/PS3 bashers out there; the PS3 is not going to fail! Its not doing all that well since Sony was left with no other option than to release the system with less content. They knew that all to well too, since they only forecasted 6 Million consoles this year. At least they got the hardware right, unlike the 360's 3 ring of death. A 10% failure is rate is unexceptable for any compagny, expect ironically enough, MS PC's. ( I kid, the 360 is still a pretty sweet console, i just thought i'd sent a hate-out)

In a market where you have consoles selling from o.k to very good (150k to 350k) depending on the month I have not seen a console 6 months after realease every hit 82k sold. I smell a big cut cheese from sony. They said they shippped 5.5 mil? When total sales are in the low 3mil.? I think sony meant we have produced 5.5 mil consoles, but that doesn't mean we have put them in boxes and ready to ship. How can they ramp up production when the stores in NA are only selling 20k a week and in jappan you just hit another low of 8k a week? Sony is becoming the new FORD. Their inventory will just be getting back logged month after month with no sales surge insight other than holiday 07. Which is many months away. The only problem they have is ford and GM start to give away rebates and employee discounts. Will sony have to give employee discounts to move units.? In either shape or form I see May even being as brutal or worse with the release of the Elite and the WII staying just as hot. A 100 dollar price drop will not help. As the 500$ PS3 version wasn't even selling according to SONY right? For every price drop sony does, NIN and MS can match it dollar by dollar. So overall keep saying wait until, cause thats the game they are playing now.

Agree that ps3 is loosing, but it is not becasue it sucks, it's because of the high price. I think we can't compared Ps3 and the WII, it doesen't make sense, the WII is way cheaper than the ps3, i think it is not fair. This is my opinion, i don't get why some people in this website are going crazy " oh yeah ps3 is loosing, i hate sony, oh the WII is outselling the ps3, 360 is better" and so on, i own both 360 and the ps3,and both are great, but my favorite console is the Ps3. I just want to play vidoe games, im not planing on getting the WII, because i think im alittle too old, im 18 years old.

Ferrari and Porche must be in bad shape because ford is outselling them by a huge margin right?...different game system for a different type of people, on top of that a huge ammount of people buying an xbox or ps will ALSO buy a wii.

The kids I know have never used the phrase "playstation" Even the 3 yr olds says's "Xbox" this and "Xbox that so the new gen is not going to be loyal to Sony just because of PS1 and PS2

People always use the Kids only play Nintendo Wii as an escape goat! Mine as well say Lawyers play the 360, an Gangsta play the PS3. Such Stereotype Malarkey is Dumb! 1st Kids don't buy Wii parents, an Wii fans do, they also play the Wii. 2nd 360 aren't just for Lawyers an Janitors. 3rd Gangsta & Wansta don't just play the PS3. Gamers play games that won't change, neither do people Stereotypes. People don't give props like they used to.

guys up top that say the prefer the Ps3. why!! because I'll say the graphics are the same(slight slight edge to the 360)an the 360 has the MOST an the BEST games, so what are you basing your preference off.is it just because its the PLAYSTATION!! I rarley play my Ps3 an I think im gonna trade in motorstorm(might) tomorrow for something else.but I wanna know the reason for liking the PS3 better, just wondering, I know why I like my 360 better GAMES,ONLINE,MEDIA CENTER CONNECTION!! but why the Ps3?
