I am not surprised in the slightest. Even if it isn't a conscious thing on the reviewers part (although it probably is.) As mentioned in the article, being 'first' might change things.
Ever since reviewers gave GTA4 10 across the board, I don't trust them that MUCH anymore. They are still credible in many aspects, but I trust my intuition more. For example, when I watched the gameplay trailer of UC2, I knew that it's going to be a masterpiece.
