Heavy Rain looked freaky at first in that it was so realistic looking, but yea you get used to it. Also, Prince of Persia and God of War 3 look like freaking paintings, it boggles the mind...

Ah, no wonder I'm so good on Gears of War 2 multiplayer. There's nothing really pretty to look at.

When playing Shadow of the colossus, sometimes I just stop moving around and watch at the TV screen in absolute awe.

Also GT 5:P have the same effect some times,those car models are Ridiculous!

"Too pretty"? I...what? Er, no. Not at all.

The last pretty environments I enjoyed were some of the free exploration planets in Mass Effect. I don't remember any names, but there was one with a lot of spores that looked absolutely gorgeous and another with a constant rain of fire that looked absolutely intimidating. But both incredibly otherworldly.

killzone2 and uncharted 2 multiplayer online looks like the single player graphics. I am always amazed by this. Sometimes I forget Im playeing Mp and not sp. Im sorry guys but if you dont have a ps3 this gen then you missing out on true next gen gamieng. social community features are nothing compared to gameing features, fact. I get a console to game.

Uncharted 2 multiplayer really is fantastic-looking. I only stop to look at stuff when I'm hiding. When I'm running around, I focus on the gameplay.

Only 2 games have been "Too Pretty" for me.

I have been killed multiple times in KZ2 and UC2 because I was just lookin around. I've even had people yell at me in UC2's co-op because I was checkin out the flooded laundry room. lol

I take this article as somebody who wanted to put their input in on the game...but could not come up with a better way to draw people's attention. Age old question? Haha. Anyhoo, too play along...I think pretty(maybe my own cultural bias) seems like a odd description for UC2...maybe we should ask if a game's graphics can be too stunning. I do think games can be too pretty, I am mainly talking about certain car games in which the cars are so polished up that they no longer seem realistic.

if ur too busy looking at walls when playing multiplayer u prob have ADD or something u can admire the looks of the game for a bit but eventually ur gonna get over it and enjoy it i played the multiplayer demo its freaking awesome

I think a lot of games coming out may fit into the too pretty category. I love the concept of a game being too pretty, because in 5 years, these games will be normal, and too pretty will have become insanely pretty.

Well, as great as a game looks, the novelty can wear if the gameplay sucks. Fortunately, Uncharted 2 doesn't have that problem. Crysis sort of had that problem, according to a friend of mine who spent a great deal of money to build a computer just to play it. This was before Crysis had even come out, so people were so stunned by the graphics they didn't wonder if the story would suck. I hope Killzone 2 doesn't have this problem because it looks exciting to me, but the 360 fboys are spreading so much FUD these days. If it's even half-true, then I will be disappointed.

Absolutely a big impact on PlayStation but I'd say leadership is the key factor. When leadership changes so does the studio. Leadership is so important for the counties success of a developer.

I wouldn't mind Sony to give us a remaster of the trilogy for PS5 and finally releases it on PC, or even remake Among Thieves.

It was such a well made game, you could tell how much love was poured into it.

Such a shame Amy Hennig got forced out and never got to be there when Nathan Drakes story ended.

One of the best ps3 games of all time imo. The adventure I felt in that game is still one of the best I've ever played. They did amazing with MP as well, god I miss it.

U2 set the standard for PS exclusives, and a standard for how stories were told in SP games in general. The seamless transitions from gameplay to cutscenes, fancier camera work, cinematic feel in in-game set pieces, organic voice acting/line delivery. Devs can deny it all they want but everybody was trying to be U2 after it's release. I prefer it over U4 even cause it's a much more straight forward game in its genre.

Final fantasy 7

From the very start the train sequence was wow… one of the best most memorable opening i can recall.

I love UC2, beat it many times on PS3, and beat it once for PS4, played tons of multiplayer as well. Most important? I wouldn't agree. A game that cemented the entirety of the PlayStation branding against its competition, not just a single company, would be more important.

Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo. Or if you want to count GTA III since it was a temporary exclusive and propelled PS2 hardware sales beyond what anyone could have ever imagined. After a single year on the market, PS2 took over nearly the entire console marketshare to itself.

Absolutely is. It made uncharted 1 look so mediocre. It also set a bar so high, not just for gaming, but for Action Adventure games. I played the MP religiously and made some amazing friends through it. I especially loved mercing the ND devs.

Hopefully ND comes back swinging with the next game release. They sure know how to make quality storytelling
