Is it me that there are so many sony leaks, some of the realistic some of them not (Not saying this is realistic), but when it comes for Sony to deliver, it cannot possibly appease all their fans, cause there is so much out there.

I mean just take a look just recently, the PS2 emulation, the dreamcast stuff that was "leaked".

Imagine if Nintendo or Microsoft had to constantly meet this kind of hype or whatever you'd like to call it.

it would be cool, but ps3 owners are so used to it, it doesnt even matter anymore...plus 95% of online games have mic options..so its still cool

I would love to have it. Sometimes me and my friends are playing call of duty or trying to set up a party and someone may get kicked out and nobody knows what happed to them. It would be nice to just voice caht and keep playing instead of pausing the game and then typing a message that takes too long to do. At least even if we could leave a voice mail how hard is it to make a 30 sec voice message like on the xbox. That has nothing to do with the game thats all on the FW. I bet these hackers would have it up and running in less than a month. Sony needs to release the code so they can do it if they cant get it right lol!

Ive gave up all hope long ok. Every time there is a rumor regarding cross game chat in a upcoming firmware update it never materialises!
Firmware 3.10 may indeed come in October, but im not holding my breath for this feature.
Dont get me wrong i would love it,and do think its in the works and will be with us somepoint, but I would like it to be clarified from the horses mouth ( why not mentioned at TGS today?) and not as a rumor through a unknown source. Not convinced!!!

I dont see myself really using this much if it does come out. But then again it could turn out to be a good feature to have and Ill end up using it a lot. Anyway since this is the main thing some people use to say Live is better than PSN. What will they do to justify spending money on Live?

i mean i wont mind it but don't really c the point. i usually only chat to my 'gaming' mates if they are playing the same game and in the same room as me. or in general i'll be on my pc chatting on ts while i play either my ps3 or 360.

so for me personally i can do without. however it's annoying that it screws up games like socom where ppl die and just tell their teammates where ppl are (which they wudnt be able to do on ingame chat)

Only real good thing about this if it does come out it will give less of a reason for the Xbox 360 gamers to complain about the PS3.

I don't understand why people are so...against? Such a feature. Surely more features are a good thing? Even if it's something that you, personally, aren't that bothered about, it's still nice to know that it's coming, that your console is getting better and better with each update.

dont get all hyped on this feature, cause it says how its implemented right there in the title.

by informing them that means THEY have the ability to add it in. its just like in game music and all the other stuff. sony isnt doing it universally, its up to the devs to do it.

this and netflix are the two most overblown features which PSN dont have....I have them on Live and dont use netflix and hardly use x chat

Question, how many ps3 owners have paid any attention to your friends list? Probably not many since everyone and their momma complained about how ugly the grey boxes were, but I noticed something I hadn't noticed before. New games like Need for Speed SHIFT and Marvel Ultimate Alliance had a scrolling ticker after the game name that basically tell you everything that's going on in the game. Whether they have crashed, taken first place in a race or even unlocked a trophy, Voice video chat is also a option in system setting, you can also copy and paste miniature novels and send to twelve friends at a time, there are other bells and present but these are the obvious ones.

Cross game voice chat and Uncharted 2 in 2009?? Gee Sfags, instead of writing sad wish-lists to sony you should have just bought 360 and GeoW1 and been happy already 3 years ago.

PS3 has always had a chat room, similar to inviting a party of people into a room and chatting. It has video and audio. Why don't they just make that feature work better (using it ingame). It wouldn't be copying, it would be strengthening a feature they really haven't improved in the longest time. It's not available while playing games, so that sucks. That is what needs to be changed. Keeping the option for video up there would be impressive.

What like your in 1 game and some 1 is playing another game?? Pointless i think!!! :-/

c'mon Sony

If Sony could just add universal in game music I'd be golden with this update. Hopefully they it is implemented in popular games by patches to not allow cheating, such as in Socom or games like that and telling others where people are. These are my most requested features and developers just neglect them if they are a choice. Too bad Sony didn't implement them from the start, but I would much rather have them late than never.

Cross Game Chat is the main reason I still buy my multiplatform games on Xbox. When my buddies and I play, I like to be able to talk to them, even if we aren't playing the same games.

It's also nice when we are playing the same games, but not multiplayer (like KZ2). Makes the game more fun and overall just a broader appeal.

If PS3 adds cross chat, my Xbox might be collecting dust for a long time (until some decent exclusives come out).

But I personally don't give a shyt about X-Chat. Will this entice millions of non-bluetooth headset PS3 owners to buy sets? Hmmm, sneaking off to buy stock in Bluetooth

3 reasons I want this feature.
- people will stop whining.. but ultimately will find something else to whine about.
- xbros will stop always bring up the "my system has xgc" topic.
- and this feature could be well used for gamebattles or playing in tournaments where coordination is important.

As a 360 owner and XBL owner, I can tell you that this feature is not completely necessary, but at the same time is extremely nice to have. I love playing a game and being able to talk to my best friend who moved a while back while he plays any other game. We can talk even if we are not playing a game.It is very very handy to have.

For all of you who say you don't get it, and you don't think you would use it...I thought the same thing, but now whats all I use. Most of the time we don't even use in game chat(which I guess could be a good or bad thing).

To see it on PS3 would really be awesome, I want an excuse to use the PSN more often.

I want to know which company this is so I can boycott them for ruining for all us gamers, for Sony and for the other developers.

i sold my xbox and got a ps3 a few months back and so di my mate that i game with,
cross gaem chat is a major downside as now i have to keep exiting my game and typing a message,where as before i could invite to chat and that was it we was offf,deciding what game we would have a crack at.

I'll take cross game invites over cross game chat any day but it would be cool to have all kinds of features available.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
