or will puzzle solving/time/and the ppl or the computer you are competing with are going to be like the only competition?

this may be one of the greatest games to come this year(or next year).

i think by that statement he meant when you hit the character you are racing against...remember at gdc 07 when they had the guys playing the game?
they kinda showed us how it would work.

at GDC, Phil Harrison said that Little Big Planet would first appear as a demo in late 2007, where users would be able to create and upload their own levels, and share them with folks, then, in early 2008, they'd release the title on Blu Ray.

he later hinted that the Blu Ray release would be more of a collection of the best user submitted levels.

so hey, we only have to wait a few months before we get our hands on this wonderful game.

while Edge isn't the best site, this article was filled with a lot of new info about the game.

i'm really more interested in the aspects of creation they hinted about concerning games that aren't just platformer based.

i can't help but imagine making a level that is a Contra-like shooter, or a scary, moody, Silent Hill-esque level. who knows what else they have planned.

and a lot of people thought 2D gaming was dead. hopefully, with this title, it will have evolved (though i'm looking forward to Odin Sphere this month, personally).

This is my Most wanted game and has been since I first saw it. I'm the kind of guy who spent more time creating skateparks on Tony Hawk 3 then he did actually playing the game so this is the game I've been waiting for my whole life.

And I'll say it again, Best Graphics Ever. The closest the yet to photo-realism and thats even against games like Heavy Rain and Alam Wake.

Best use of Physics in gameplay. Yes, sorry Halflife 2. Time to step down.

And how cool is it, that you can "act" with the characters.

Its also interest they hint at other genre's. Not just platforming. Are you kidding? The possiblities are endless. Whats to stop peole making a capture the flag type game. Or racing? Soccer with an orange?

Hey, the top level designers might even get "scouted" by real devs.

I've always thought I'd be a good playtester.

very beautiful game on every aspect of it considering the art soundtrack and graphic display really suits the atmosphere

and I'm one of them...I just hope it's ambition is fully realized. Myspace and youtube would not be what they are today were it not for the huge communities that adopted them and were passionate about them. This game may be well received...but if nobody cares to put forth the effort, it could tank.

With that said, I can't wait to see how it develops if it does take off, and I could see this game working very closely with Home, as far as in-game content goes. Keeping my fingers crossed for this one.

I'll probably put more time on this game than any game i've ever played. You'll feel like a dev. You'll probably work on one level for 2 months to get the mechanics working good then another putting the graphics, pictures, and themes the way you want them. The potential for this is absolutely ridiculous.

I will probably be the only one who feels this way but I want this game more than HS, Lair, Halo 3 and Mass Effect combined!

Now that Jim Ryan is gone just need to remove Herman Hulst from his position! And maybe give Shuhei the position he deserved.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

So now there's certifiable proof that Ryan was in fact "fired", as opposed to when it was first announced that he "retired", in order to save face.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
