Mass Effect 2 Vs Alpha Protocol: Round 1 RPG Diversity

Blend Games writes:

"This time around we're pitting epic RPG against epic RPG with Obsidian going one-on-one with BioWare (both of which made Knights of the Old Republic games). We'll compare Mass Effect 2 against Alpha Protocol and see which one gamers might be more interested in when it's all said and done. Like the past couple of bouts we'll be joined by Electronic Theatre's Kev. J. and ManPac."

Why pit them against each other when you can get both? :)

thebudgetgamer6006d ago

turning it around on the hardcore ps3 nuts.

:) bubble up.

Is Alpha Proctol coming to PC?

Christopher6006d ago (Edited 6006d ago )

I will definitely be picking up both. Both BioWare and Obsidian did a good job with the Neverwinter Nights and other D&D IPs, it's unlikely that Obsidian will falter again in taking up BioWare's methods and creating a new game from them.

Yeah, wish ME and ME2 were on PS3, but I got a 360 just for the first and it'll be good enough for the second as well.

Edit: @disagreer - Oh no! He prefers the PS3 but will play games on the 360! Whatever shall we do? *Home Alone face slap*

DelbertGrady6006d ago

Agreed. I loved Star Wars KOTOR 2 and Alpha Protocol looks to be an amazing game.

Mass Effect 2 and Alpha Protocol are both pretty high on my list, but I''m guessing they'll both be pretty similar in how they play.

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast445d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine445d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast445d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman445d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast445d ago

Liam lol I can't stand that dude.

One of the few 7th gen game that I'll full heartedly support for a remake.
Its a very unique RPG and deserves its faults fixed the 2nd time.

TheNamelessOne610d ago

I would be so for this. Alpha Protocol is the definition of a diamond in the rough. Before being acquired by Microsoft, Obsidian presented their ideas for a sequel, multiple times, but were always shot down. Even something simple like a remaster is very unlikely.

ZeekQuattro610d ago

Still have a physical copy for my PS3. Clunky at times but I had a lot of fun with it back in the day.

TheColbertinator610d ago

Had some issues but that game was brilliant.

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave693d ago (Edited 693d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
