Console Gaming writes: "It takes a special type of game to make you sit up and take notice from the very beginning. Arkham Asylum certainly falls into this category. Developed by Rocksteady and published by Eidos, Batman: Arkham Asylum is the culmination of years of planning and decades of comic book back stories, amalgamated into not only the best super hero game ever made, but a contender for game of the year.

The game begins with a sight into a crime scene in Gotham city, and the eventual capture of the Joker at the hands of Batman. Immediately you realise that this game will not be your standard and clichéd super hero game. Given a task, usually to apprehend a villain and the subsequent 8 hours are spent tediously jumping through proverbial hoops. However when you enter the Arkham Asylum you notice that this game is very different indeed. The view you play the game in is largely over the shoulder third person, much like that in the previous two resident evil titles. Batman's cape billows majestically and it allows you to gather a real feel for your surroundings..."
