I don't know about you guys but i want to be able to like screen grab the images that show up when you hover over a game (before you click to start it) like the huge resistance skull and use those as wallpapers.

This is abosolutely amazing, if I get to listen to my music while I am playing I will be estatic(sp). The xbox can do it why cant the playstation. IU have been waiting fo;r this forever.

Let's hope its true..It be awesome update for all PS3 owners..And we dont have to worry if its goin to brick our system..PS3 is getting better each month, and no doubt in my mind when games start dropping a lot of people is goin to think differently.Just payin the extra 100 dollars is all worth it especially with so many features to justify the price(I love Blue Ray).PS3 hardware will last 10 years unlike the 360 who struggles to have a life span of one year. Don't know about the ingame music but i am speculating xmb access ingame = xmb features in game e.g. chat, music and all that other stuff xbox does with blades. IMO assuming this update does happen i honestly cannot think of any other feature the 360 would have against sony.

what about VOICE chat!! NEW MESSENGER,media center support,custom sound track in game, VIDEO market place,video chat,voice in EVERY GAME,an more. no knock on the PS3 because I have ,but they just aint there yet!! plus why does it take so long to do an update, it took me about 45 minutes to update my Ps3, when the 360 update takes less the 1 minute!!

If it takes 1hr i really don't care as long as it gets the job done. You can always download the update on your computer and transfer it to your ps3 so it jst installs if you want to kill time. As for the messenger bit i really don't need it. I thought the voice chat feature was already there though. Shows how much i know. I am pretty sure we have video chat. Don't really care about video market place either. I have xbox and i have only dwnloaded 1 thing from the video market place and that was just to test it out. I got a computer i can watch all that stuff elsewhere.

Actually now that i read the article again am pretty sure this is bogus. I mean all of this in one update. If it did it would be awesome but still very unlikely. Hopefully the ingame xmb comes thru 1st though

This is sad, X-box user complainning/hating on a possible update in the future on another system. Why even get jealous about it, if these are features that are already enjoying X-box 360, then be happy about it.

Is it due to before you could say I could chat with users while in game? And now possibly Ps3 will get this functionality, and thus evening the advantage X-360 had?

Out of all these new features.. the one I really like is the [RSS Channel]... I hope it's a good RSS reader. Though one can always visit google.com with the PS3 browser... but an integrated one is always nice to have.

As long as this list is true and we'll be seeing these features soon, this is awesome. The only left that I'm asking for is universal voice chatting so no matter what game you're in, you can always chat over a headset.

Re the update sounds good, hope it's all correct.

Re accessing the XMB, this is available while surfing the net and that allows you to play your own music so it would be nice if by accessing it from games you can do the same thing. But I have a feeling this won't happen yet. On the 360 it takes into account the ingame music and sounds and turns them on or off depending on what your doing. I would be surprised if this feature is available just yet on PS3 as I assme it would take a lot of coding? All I'm saying is, the 360 fanboys are going to laugh pretty hard if everyone gets over excited and then let down. I would ecpect the feature is more to access the XMB for messages, etc. But who knows.

Re the games, I'm sorry but the PS3 launch games are much better than the 4 or 5 360 launch games, I know, I owned them! The PS3 has been out a matter of months! Let's see how many great games it had after the year and a half 360 has had. Also, I do not feel the 360 still has masses of killer titles. It's a problem with next gen dev costs, not console wars!

Although, I do long for Artist/Album/track and Year/month/image depth in Music and Photo. This bugs me right now only having Artist/track (so there is a big list of ALL songs per artist) or album/track (having to search through a big list of albums). I have 45GB of music so its tedious not having three levels. Some arranging in Video and Game menus wouldnt go amiss too. Like Movie TV and Video camera folders. and Demo Games and PS1 (when they appear in Europe) games folders. Instead of all being in one big list.

Minor niggles, but niggles that should really be easy to change and make my PS3 experience nicer with media.

Listen to your HDD Music

This update fixes all problems, and does everything that weve all waited for.

Let's hope that this is all true of course it's real coincedential that Sony's Gamer Day is around the corner and that PS Network was recently maintenanced.

Then PS Network strategy was announced with the next firmware "update" coming "late-May, early-June".

I have a friend that works for Xbox live support and they have been getting alot of calls lately from people wanting to cancel their xbox live accounts from automatically renewing. When asked why they want to cancel most of the time they say they have a PS3 and the PSN is free and is finally good enough to say dump my live account. There are some great online games out now and Rainbow Six is coming. With these features it will be even better

good news, sounds like they are working hard to cath up with live.

Xbox 360 users seem to think that all those jazzy Xbox Live features were there since inception? I've heard 'been there done that' ... or ... 'still don't have that' ... or 'what about this?'. This rivalry is getting as bad as the Yanks and Redsox (American baseball).

I think Sony has done a marvelous job of supporting their network and XMB. Rumor or not, I'm expecting significant changes waiting in the wings.

Anyone have a release list of options improved/added within Xbox Live since inception by version number? It would be interesting to know when those improvments were added relative to the current updates in the PSN.

Nice to Sony continually making inprovements based on what consumers want. With the 360, almost every update bricks the console which is already prone to overheating, freezing and scratching discs. With MS latest update, some people have been having problems with Messenger. They can't even get their own software to work with their own hardware.
