In the general term of electronics, yes the Wii should have had a price reduction. Why not ease up on the price as their production cost has gone down also. I don't see Plasma TVs still costing 10 000$, remember when DVD players were over 500$ now you can buy them for under 50$.

The wii hasn't lost value to have a price drop but 3 years and you're still selling it at premium price? what about all those poor fmailies that kept telling little Johnny that they'll get that "new" nintendo system when the price goes down. Jesus mom the price hasn't gone down and I'm not a kid anymore, I want a PS3 or 360, they cost the same if not cheaper.

I know i know, that is but one of the outcome we've looked at at my business meetings, I'm sure that the blue ocean spectrum that Nintendo has might be a little different but remember in an economy people (mostly casual) are not informed and that is how those rip off Vii ( not Wii) sells. Last thing I would like to add, Nintendo may not be where they used to be for hardcore gamers but their business model is a sound one and makes sense for profits ( i should say maximum profit), are they in trouble with a system that yielded pure profit from the get go... You think about it how they came, saw, and conquered not with the might of tech but creativity and marketing.

I think because Nintendo has to be that System for the family they have more pressure and they might have to announce their new project N6 for their 5 to 6 year cycle.

Is the Wii overpriced? Or did its huge sales force MS and Sony to underprice theirs prematurely? Up untill very recently,the percieved value for many was that that the Wii was the best value.Doesnt matter that the competitors feature for feature,make it look like like a stripped economy car.
Nintendo is just now getting to the point where they are making a $50.00 adjustment.
I dont own one,have no desire to have one,but I have to applaud Nintendo for their strategy this gen. It worked. Even if their sales drop to half of what they were,both MS and Sony have alot of catching up to do.

But the reason I got a Wii in the first place was for games to play with my wife and also Nintendo franchises that can't be played anywhere else. Besides that, it pretty much collects dust while my PS3 and 360 get 90% of my time.

I am looking forward to RE:DC, the new Dead Space game, and of course, Tatsu vs Cap....man I can't wait for that game.

this is called digging for quotes. My guess is those are all interviews with analysts right after the slim was released before the news of the price cut leaked. Pratcher even says, "we don't know what they'll do." Which is exactly what makes being a nintendo fan great... they may piss you off sometimes but damn! You do really want to know what they are hiding up their sleeves. Since you know your going to like it anyhow.

The Wii is still way ahead. In trouble? I think not. It will be a long time before we see that happen.

The Wii isn't currently in trouble but the article is about what the Wii will be facing soon. With the price cuts it is not going to be as great of a deal like it used to be. For only $50 more you can get a blue ray player(PS3) or a Xbox. I think it is going to be a lot more competitive since the other systems have more to offer.
