I am about to update both of my PS3s! I had no issues with 3.0 though...but I am game and will update both.

FW 3.01 fixes most problems from FW 3.00 except the stupidity in ppl saying the gray bars are ugly and bad and the fonts are bigger which wasn't even noticeable . the 1 problem i wish they fixed was how your never greeted by the name PLAYSTATION 3 when you start a game i miss that and if by sparkles the dude means font size it could have been changed without the FW it was an option in FW 3.00

The only thing that bothers me is when scrolling down through movies, music etc, the choices either side of the selected item, fade after about 2 seconds. So annoying.

Can this be disabled?

Never had any problems with Uncharted with 3.0 an I finish the game to and the friend list won't change I bet and if I know Sony, they are going to make it use the trophy's on the gray part around the user names.

Uncharted froze on me a couple of times. Hope this truly fixes it. For a moment I thought my PS3 was pooping out on me, much to my dismay it reminded me of Fallout 3's horrible freezing issues.

I want to know when is my PS3 going to start talking to me all sexy like. Femmeware 1.0 :D I give it so much attention it should show some love.

OK I just noticed something different while using Life with PlayStation after the 3.01 update, the other 2 channels no longer exist.

The channel that shows schools around the world and the other which shows some historic facts in certain countries are no longer there.

Wonder why?

I played Uncharted: DF solidy for 5 hours the other day and my PS3, still hs'nt froze yet.

I never noticed an issue with 3.0 nonetheless the fact that Sony have responded quickly is refreshing

When I update my 3.0. And read bout all the Uncharted freeze problems. I play my Uncharted for like 3 hours straight and I have no problem with my update and continue. SO I don't know what other PS3 owners says why their game freezes during game play.

i played it today and after the patch 3.0, i don;t it just shows sony was worried!!

did anyone else's ps3 brick after 3.0? I have a hunch that these new features has your ps3 running hotter causing it to brick. And since the slim runs alot cooler it wouldnt effect the slim models. I have an original 60g launch and it just bricked yesturday. I read online about 3 possible solutions. If anyone has the same problem (blinking red lights) Get in contact and I will give you my info on what ever I did to fix this.

My BF1943 still freezes with the new 3.01. Before 3.0, it never crashed while playing that game.

Did Sony address the loading problem when comparing trophies with other users on the PS3? I'm not sure if it's just me because every time I view my trophies the loading bar goes up to like 10-13% and stops right there. I then hit the escape button and it all pops up fine.

I have not seen any problems yet, but who the heck is running PS3 Software department! There is no way in the world there is suppose to be any issues updating firmware. Some body did not leave well enough alone! This looks like a typical engineering screw-up!

Does this fix the fanatec porsche 911 wheel issue? The last update broke this wheel with some games like gt5p, supercar challenge and a few others.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

So now there's certifiable proof that Ryan was in fact "fired", as opposed to when it was first announced that he "retired", in order to save face.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
