Non-Working Designs: XSEED to redo LUNAR script

Heath writes, "...[XSEED] has decided to forge onward with its own script rather than use the one Working Designs did for the game's PlayStation release."

Handhelds_FTW6084d ago

Hope they don't deviate too much from the original, it's already a timeless classic as is.

GameGambits6083d ago

New voice actors? Or using the same ones but with new lines of dialogue?

I can safely say this game will be a GIANT failure if they get new voice actors. Take a look at Star Ocean: Second Evolution on PSP. The port of that from its PS1 version The Second Story, was a huge failure. It should've been left alone. They made the entire art style of the game generic anime, added generic anime cut scenes, AND used the worst cast of voice actors ever.

I was really looking foward to this for my PSP too, but being it's one of my all time favorite games if they ruin it like SE did Star Ocean, then I'll pass. :/

Why Dat6084d ago

Can't wait!

Never got to play the originals, as I was too young and never heard of it way back when.

NaiNaiNai6084d ago

I wanted to play the old ones, but couldn't find them at the time, they were like 150$ box sets.

Obama6084d ago

The old ones are still available for download actually.

NaiNaiNai6084d ago

yea but you and several other people told me not to bother buying a ps3 for ps1 games and blu-ray, you said If I won't buy ps3 games then its a waste.

Tr10wn6083d ago (Edited 6083d ago )

the old ones (Segas CD) are better than the PSX version but if you didn't play the PSX i really recommend to do it s a very awesome story one of the best rpg

Polluted6084d ago

Lunar must have been one of the very first RPGs I ever played. Can't say as I recall the script very well since I was probably around 10 years old at the time, but from what I hear Working Designs did a great job. Hopefully the new guys do just as well if not better.

SaiyanFury6083d ago

Working Designs did a kickin' job of shoehorning in some pop culture back when they did the games, both for the SEGA CD and for the original PlayStation. Albeit, I am looking forward to the PSP games as well.

FarEastOrient6084d ago

This is the game that made me an RPG fanatic after it was released for the Sega CD.

Working Designs, how I missed you...

My Arc the Lad watch still works.

GameGambits6083d ago

Hell ya! Mine does too.

Arc the Lad 2 in that collection had one of the hardest bosses ever. I somehow randomly beat him though using the robot guy at the very final form. It took forever, but the robot dude just couldn't die and he soloed it for me. :D

I beat all 3 straight in a row. I think I paid 90.00 back in the day for all 3 of those games and all the goodies WD put into it.

Working Designs brought over 4 of my favorite game purchases ever. Lunar Silver Star Story Complete, Lunar 2 Eternal Blue, Arc the Lad Collection, and Alundra! I love Alundra with a passion. It was a harder version of a Zelda game, but too bad Alundra 2 deviated from everything that made the first awesome.

Sony or even Microsoft should reopen Working Designs as a first party studio for them to roll out RPGs. :D

RPGFan's Top 20 PSP RPGs

RPGFan - "Over the years, those of us who love RPGs have spent a lot of time with Sony's consoles. The PlayStation 2, for example, was the undeniable king of home consoles for RPGFans of its time. However, when it comes to handhelds, the PlayStation Portable faced an uphill climb from the day it was released. In Japan, it came on the scene just 10 days after Nintendo's DS, but the gap was three months longer in the US. And although both consoles had great features, the DS went on to outsell the PSP two to one."

Jeanne D'Arc 19? Star ocean 2 20? WTF worst top 20 ever.

3-4-54587d ago

Yea the games on the list are good but the order is iffy in some parts. Not a terrible list though.

CLOUD19834587d ago

To be honest I was expected something better from RPGFan & disappointed very hard at the end.. for example Crisis Core on No3 is outrageous & completely ridiculous choice... & then we have Kingdom Hearts which I can't even call rpg on No8.. tragic nothing else to say many other wrong selection no reason to mention them all & it's pointless this list is simply teribad, at least they put Trails in the Sky high enough this I'm sure is something most ppl agree with.

-Gespenst-4587d ago

Weird list... Some games just shouldn't be on there, like (I might grilled for this, but) Star Ocean 2, and Lunar. Those games are seriously overrated by the rpg community.

Tales of Eternia and Breath of Fire 3, although ports, should really be on there. And what about Dissidia? It's got a ton of rpg elements to it, and certainly takes as long as any rpg to fully complete.

Also I never played Trails in the Sky, but that girl looks EXACTLY like Kid from Chrono Cross.

Let us Cling Together cannot touch FFT. Besides that, it's all games I wish I played

“Have we been about niche RPGs and Japanese games our entire life? Or is there much more to each of us?”

PSP is/was an RPG powerhouse. O_O

Zichu4778d ago

I have quite a list of games I want to get for the PSP, I think this site mentioned the ones I haven't played yet.

I kind of missed out on a lot of amazing games for the PSP. A lot of them are available on the PSN which I definitely need to go and get, they are quite cheap now. I just want to get a Vita first, this way I will have quite a lot of space to put them all on :D

Protagonist4778d ago

Get a PS Vita and then get Persona 3 Portable.

The "bester" rpg ;o)
