AMD demonstrates 24 LCD setup on a single computer

There is no doubt that AMD's ATI Eyefinity is an impressive piece of technology. According to Rick Bergman and AMD's slides, the "resolution" of a human eye is 268 million "pixels", and the company is doing its best to capture most of it.

With the upcoming Evergreen generation of graphics hardware, AMD enables the use of six displays on a single GPU, meaning that a computer equipped with four PCI Express slots could power 24 displays, and this is exactly what the company demonstrated.

I Reckon Multiple 1080P HD Projectors (for that Res) ... At least that would get rid of the Annoying borders....

INehalemEXI6120d ago (Edited 6120d ago )

impressive, you could play some serious tic tac toe.

hitthegspot6120d ago

That is hella cool. I wish they had better pics or a video showing the screen refresh.

na-no-nai6120d ago

i bet it gonna be one hella expensive technology. for now it gonna be only for the riches

Pandamobile6120d ago (Edited 6120d ago )

Naw, really? 24 30" monitors?

Well, the technology itself is part of the new line of ATI graphics cards and won't be expensive.

The monitors however...

evrfighter6120d ago

this technology is going to be part of the HD5800 series launch iirc.

NRG6120d ago (Edited 6120d ago )

I'm curious how they connect all the monitors physically. It has to be some sort little monitor hub. Those kind of accessories connecting just three or four monitors are incredibly expensive, so I wonder what ATI's solution to this is.
Also, it's pretty impressive if they're getting all that data to flow through a single DVI/HDMI port.

Kakkoii6120d ago

The new ATI 5000 series chips are being built with a minimum of 3 display pipelines. With the higher end chips having up to 6 pipelines. And thus video card manufacturers can choose to put up to that many display connectors on the back of the cards.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing44d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9244d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit44d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing44d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9244d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
