IGN UK: Wet Preview

Hands-on with some new bits of Bethesda's stylish, over-the-top actioner.

So, Wet, then. IGN has already seen plenty from A2M's Grindhouse-inspired third-person actioner but Bethesda recently popped into the office to show off a bit more and quell fears that there's more to the final game than bullet-time flip-slide-bang-bang. Along with the game's opening Chinatown confrontation and car-top chase (which you'll already be familiar with, if you've seen the demo), Bethesda rattled out a more challenge-based open-world desert area, the platform-focussed Uninvited Guest, and a later level known as The Opera House.

This game (demo at least) sucks ass. IMHO Bethesda should stick to what they do best (rpg). IMHO this game has crap graphics and shooting mechanics are mediocre. John Woo's Stranglehold is more fun than this.

Kleptic6022d ago

yeah this game sucks...

play Max Payne 2 if you want to play the best game of this type...and then stranglehold if you want a lot of Asian flare or whatever with it (as Stranglehold is a blatant ripoff gameplay wise from max payne 2)...both games have better graphics than WET too...which is absolutely pathetic...as MP 2 came out in like 2003...and stranglehold uses UE3...

sorry, but wet sucks...

the story looks really interesting though but the combat is kinda chili con carnage on psp.

its just not fluid.

i'll be happy to play this game by mistake if i found it but im not going outta my way to buy it.
nice try though.

nycredude6022d ago (Edited 6022d ago )

yeah I wasn't really impress with it. If you like this type of game I think Strangle would more than satiate your appetite and you can buy that for like $10 (collectors edition) and get the awesome Hardboiled John Woo movie in Bluray!

I've got my money earmarked for Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2, Rachet, Mass Effect 2, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, GT5, White Knight Cronicles, GOW 3, Heavy Rain, Red Dead Redemption, MAG and etc... No room for these mediocre games.

Skynetone6022d ago

was annoying, and frustating, more freedom next time and respawning enemies was the end for this game

Gamer_Politics6022d ago

this game will fail..Bethesda needs to stick with Wrpgs.

lh_swe6022d ago

At least I hope not.

This game had a lot of potential to be the next stranglehold, but ultimatly failed for me.

Thought I was the only one who remembered Trinity lol very underrated

Yui_Suzumiya649d ago

WET and Quantum Theory were both phenomenal

P_Bomb649d ago

I remember Stranglehold! One of the first DLC packs of its time. A bit expensive, but cheap by today’s standards.

Chocoburger648d ago

Another PS3 hidden gems list, and yet again Time Crisis 4 and Time Crisis Razin' Storm get snubbed. Such fun games, that shouldn't be forgotten. If only we got a home port of Time Crisis 5: Mastermind Edition.

WET is something I wish they'd remake, they had so many great ideas but not all of them were executed properly

It had a lot of potential

Also Wanted Weapons of Fate is another game that had some new fun gameplay ideas.

Looking Back to 2009 and WET

Nick writes: "WET was a pretty cool experimental project; a mixture of Stranglehold and Max Payne with a bullet-time mechanic and 70’s china-town movie style."

Blurs servers were the main issue but would love to see it return.

AZRoboto3158d ago

I'll point out that these games are all from the X360/PS3 era - they've already had HD releases when they first came out. Split/Second and Blur - with the crazy vehicle physics capable today, why would we not want sequels to them?

The other games, all a matter of opinion of course, but... thank you for your ads between every single game. /s

TheDCD3158d ago

Problem with sequels is that they aren't very likely. Activision dropped Blur like a bad habit, and Disney isn't doing games anymore. So I'll happily take the originals.

Remember Me
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Miss_Weeboo3158d ago

Alan Wake
Lost Odyssey
Demon Souls

TheDCD3157d ago

As much as I'd kill for a Demon's Souls remake, isn't likely. We'll probably get Bloodborne 2 instead.

PhoenixUp3158d ago

Dafuq kinda title is that? These games were already released on HD consoles though...
