I don't think Sony will be changing much soon, their is only so much you can change at a time for the XMB, plus Sony has been trying hard not to make any Firmware that doesn't anything wrong or has glitchs.

If I was easy to change then Sony would have everything like cross party chat an video an being able to watch 4 of your friends play games online or offline but not on the same games. But they can't right now an it takes time to make something run right.

These guys are retards. They do not get the idea the Graphics Editing is that simple on Sonys Network. They modify pictures using MSpaint/adobe/what ever and think it is that easy for sony to implement it, as I have said before to the picture people of the Playstation boards. WRITE THE CODE FOR IT THEN PURPOSE IT, then may then you will actually get something accomplished.

I hope Sony sees this, those improvement ideas are awesome!

I'd like to be able to sort my PS2 saves into alphabetical/date, and into a grid. The list ain't doin it for me.

I have an alternative suggestion for Sony: Stop reacting to all the internet squeaky wheels. Take all those years of experience in designing consumer products, and stick to your vision.

While there's nothing wrong with taking internet feedback, just like any other form of market research, one gets the impression that many things are being done quickly just to appease all the loud griefers out there. For example: In-game XMB; many of us never wanted this, and I personally get sick of an accidental PS button press getting me killed in Warhawk, or interrupting a Motorstorm race.

As others have pointed out, anyone can take a paint program and make a mockup that LOOKS good. Coding the underlying functionality in a manner that's usable is quite another thing. A perfect example is the image which suggests showing each friend's trophy information right on the friends list. So what, now I'll have to wait while the system does a trophy sync as I scroll to each friend? Or my bandwidth for downloads or anything else now has to suffer, as all my friends' trophy information is constantly kept up to date in the background, just in case I want to go to my friends list? Um, no.

Why bother? The NXE is 10x better.

It looks very sleek, not sure though if it's practical considering it always takes hours to load trophy information once you click on a username.

They probably would need to rebuild the operating system from the ground up to have something fast and accessable like that, right now a lot of stuff is messed up.

the design is solid .. taken from playstation.com .. but the problem with loading trophy info is easily solved by simply caching the data from the last sync .. if u require an update then re-sync .. peasy .. good werk but a job at Sony? doubtful

Lol at the people calling Sony to hire the guy..all he's done is made a pretty picture and a video, he most likely knows nothing about coding firmware updates so it would be pretty pointless of Sony to hire him.

i just wish they could eliminate the loading. can't they just save our trophy progress as an image (Gamer ID or something) to bypass all the trophy calculations.

another feature that no1 seems to mention is folder management.. its ridiculous without subfolders. Am i the only who thinks its an necessary?

It won't make a difference if Sony sees this (Plus its been done before). They've seen Xbox Live and haven't done anything to compare.

just like when I first suggested point to point racing and changing weather while racing/driving in Gran Turismo 5.

I suggested this on the official PS boards waaay back and even went on to confirm that I didn't want to be paid or recognized for my suggestion. I just wanted to be able to race with the sun out (or clouds or rain etc) and then have the weather change like in real life. I was so excited when, about a year later, they mentioned that they would include weather changes during races. Whether it was their plan all along or as a result of my suggestions, I guess we will never know.

Anyway, this is why I believe that Sony does listen and the chances are we shall see something like these new gamer card features in the future.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
