'Heavy Rain' (PS3) - 19 New Screens

Heavy Rain is a dark, immersive and emotionally-engaging experience; one that expands upon the innovative ideas of 2005?s acclaimed Fahrenheit to create a noir-thriller where decisions are charged with importance and actions can have drastic and unforseen consequences. Breaking with traditional game conventions where necessary, the gameplay will be based around story, emotional involvement and the player?s decisions and interactions, rather than high-scores, combat and competition. Intuitive gameplay and controls are also fundamental to the experience ? ensuring that the game is mature but accessible, and avoiding alienating players with obscure stats and complex interfaces.

its hard to explain the complexity of systems to fanboys...

Wiitactics6109d ago (Edited 6109d ago )

What complexity @randomwiz? The X360 was build just like a computer.

A 3 core processor to run, GPU to render and shared ram to maintain. More straight forward than that it couldn't be. That's why it got maxed out so fast.

VS

PS3 has a core Processor with 8 Spe's (a unique aspect between CPU not GPU) and with direct access to the GPU. Ram that it's as fast as the CPU(3.2GHZ)

Now you tell me... The PS3 has a complicated architecture because you need special programming for the Spe's and new techniques to make it work in conjunction with the GPU. The RAM's kinda limited but still fast as fuk. If you can find ways to overcome the RAM limitations then you'll have a heck of a lot of processing power to liberate the GPU for even better textures and physics.

graphics? no. games? yes.
i wonder if anyone here would buy this game if it didn't have these graphics. it's a VERY slow and boring movie, and without the graphics it would be nothing.

same more more PS3 games.

Wiitactics6109d ago (Edited 6109d ago )

The point is that it is boring for you @2good4u2, not for everybody.
There are people that find oldchool turn-based jrpg's boring but I find them more exiting than an online match of Halo. Are you getting the point?

Now go and play Indigo Prophecy! That way you'll have a more substantial opinion about a game that you haven't even played yet because right now, you're just pulling things out of your ass.

Indigo Prophecy was made by the same developer as Heavy Rain and both are more or less the same kind of game.

randomwiz6108d ago

How do I explain that the sole gpu in the 360 is better than the ps3's RSX, but the blazing fast cell takes the load off of the rsx without getting disagrees?

Please stop comparing video games to movies

"Many video games catch not only great commercial attention but remarkable critical attention as well. We have seen games like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us Part II, and even entries in the Metal Gear series described as fantastic interactive experiences, even heralded in the same way as Hollywood's greatest films.

I would suggest that not only is this an unfair comparison but also a harmful one. Video games, by their very nature, are an intricately different medium and should be weighed against one another rather than another form of media," Phillip writes for GF365.

Yes, please stop. They're better than most hollywood drivel nowadays.

BLAKHOODe2022d ago

I think Hollywood films will becoming increasingly more like video games in the future, especially as the world embraces the "new normal" from the pandemic. It makes sense, as games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcase just how realistically we're reaching in graphical capabilities, as well as showcase extreme action sequences in spectacular ways. And as time goes by, it'll get easier and cheaper to produce such "art", as well as create new star "actors" that never age, never die, never complain, never gets involved in scandals, etc. Technology is amazing and we're only just getting a taste of what it'll eventually be.

sourOG2022d ago

No. Some games are like movies.

medman2022d ago (Edited 2022d ago )

No. For the money spent, a quality game provides far more entertainment value than a quality movie. Especially when looking at what is going on in the world, and how a studio can attempt to pilfer from consumers by charging 30 dollars for Mulan via streaming. Ridiculous. There is no comparison....games all day.
