I think Jaffe is a bit too much close of the community, he takes that too much on heart. I used to act like him, until i got extremely isolated, so i understood the best way to keep being sane in a community is to be absolutely neutral. No friendship, no hatred, no debate, no bias.

Some random blogger goes out of his way to get an argument and have his five minutes of fame and now a developer withdraws from engaging the consumer, yeah thats a great result. I really hope that week of extra hits to the bloggers site was worth it.

You have to be thick skinned on the internet. You don't know who is on the other end of the keyboard, so don't put your opinions out there for the world to see if you can't handle the retorts.

If I had celebrity, I would keep an arms distance from my adoring and not so adoring fans. Although, I would accept nude self photos emailed from my female fans, but that is where I would draw the line.

ppl are so annoying if David Jaffe thinks developers & publishers should get well let them have a cut , a guy once said if someone sells there car shouldn't the car manufacturers also get a cut well it's not the same thing if you buy a new car your keeping it for years until you get a new 1 but used games are different you could have bought Batman AA at launch and 2 days later you sold it to gamestop and your preventing the game makers the money of games with that because that someone else would buy your copy you sold and alot of ppl do this

I was following his tirade on twitter and youtube as it happened. He had very few valid points. His stance is not against gamers but used game stores. His argument stands on the fact that disc media doesn't depreciate - so basically a used game is the same as a new one. But that really isn't true. Games are only as hot as they are new. Gamers buy the next big thing - UNLESS the game is so feature rich & full of compelling content, that we would rather keep it. Add to this DLC that is actually useful and with unique codes; so that trading in the game would not be the "same" as buying it new. That's the solution in my opinion.

But he goes on about getting a cut from used game sales or threatening all digital future (which is coming - but lets not rush it Jaffe.) This would only hurt the market - as used game sales does not equal new game sales!

Also, I think that alot of the issue here is the fault of the publisher. They sell to the retailer at exorbitant prices! A $59.99 game makes $5 profit for all but big box stores. That's insane! If the publisher reduced the wholesale cost + added incentives to stores to not sell used games within a set window. So that the initial sales were unaffected...this seems good to me.

I never buy new games for my PS3... because they cost too damn much! It is like buying a new car, as soon as you drive it off the lot, you've lost a substantial value for resale.

his thing was about how he doesn't get paid for used games. however, more than just GS does this, ebay and amazon, & craigslist to name a few big ones. from what i've read, it seems they were trying to tell why selling games is bad/not bad, and how to stop it/why its ok. they gave a few likenesses and discussed things, however, Jaffe had enough, and told the guy to go **** himself, and so on. the guy seemed calm, and didn't come off as pushy.

that would be like selling stuff at a Garage Sale, then paying the makers of that product twice, which something along the lines was said, but Jaffe closed his ears and said "lalalal, **** you,lalalal"

for every used game, someone has to buy it new, so i don't see what the big deal is. he still is getting paid by the end of the day, plus he's getting the most.
