Perhaps it's time for good old Arkanoid to get an extreme makeover. Arkanoid Plus! struggles to keep things entertaining, suffers from its cheap presentation and doesn't feel like good value for money at all. Those looking for their paddlin' fix on WiiWare would be much better off with Gameloft's Block Breaker Deluxe. It does a far better job at keeping the core gameplay fun and exciting.

From the developer Taito and (North America) publisher Square Enix that brought you two well receive WiiWare titles Bubble Bobble Plus! and Bust-A-Move Plus! and now their third returning classic has been assign for this review to join the “positive” trio known as Arkanoid Plus! Although, exactly which “positive” am I referring to? Read the review and find out.

2009 wasn't just the year of big name releases; there was also a very obvious attempt to revive some of gaming's longest running franchises. While that's not necessarily a new idea, it seemed like in this past year developers actually attempted to keep the feeling of the original games instead of just taking the name of a franchise and slapping it on something completely new. Take a look at some of the classics that received some nostalgic love this year, and reminisce about the good old days as you cross your fingers that 2010 holds the same retro...

Diehard GameFAN: There are not a lot of series' I follow closely. Arkanoid is one of them. Arkanoid Plus! sums up what I love most about Arkanoid games and does so with style and panache, along with a price that cannot be beat. Were it up to me, I would take a dozen more games like this a year rather than the hugely bloated blockbuster titles that flood the Christmas market. This is good, old school fun for cheap. Buy it already!
