The Fixer Upper Becomes A Hidden Object Game

Digi Ronin Games announced an agreement with New York Times bestselling author Mary Kay Andrews to turn her Fixer Upper book into a casual game. The game will take the story and weave the story into a hidden object game. The game, Mary Kay Andrews: The Fixer Upper, will be available just in time for the holiday season.

Players find themselves on a wild ride through twenty different scenes from the book as they follow fledgling lobbyist Dempsey Jo Killebrew. Killebrew was framed for a crime and then fired by her boss. Killebrew has decided to head back home to Georgia, but her fun doens't stop there. Since Dempsey is unemployed, her father puts her in charge of turning the newly inherited, but dilapidated building into a real estate cash cow.

Mary Kay Andrews: The Fixer Upper is a perfect example of a hidden object game that's phoning it in. On paper, it has everything it's supposed to: plenty of items to find, between-level mini-games, decent graphics and a fully-realized story. In practice, however, it's a lifeless drudge of a game that's unrewarding, unsatisfying, and completely devoid of charm.
