i wonder if Disney is going to remake xmen with pink flowers and fairies.
i hope they dont mess up what marvel created

Bnet3436116d ago

Oh my god, this is the worst day ever. F*ck you Disney. Why Marvel, why?

callahan096116d ago

Nothing to be worried about. Disney owns studios that produce mature films, like Touchstone Pictures and Miramax. Miramax released Pulp Fiction, and Miramax is owned by Disney. So I don't think you have to worry about Marvel being watered down because they're owned by Disney.

Baka-akaB6116d ago (Edited 6116d ago )

@kigmal

Why the hell would it even matter to you ? It change nothing to the properties , it just mean that finally Marvel got a big daddy to back them up , just like WB back up DC .

Wich could mean finally the end of crappy Fox Marvel movies deals .

Godmars2906116d ago

callahan09, one word: Gargoyles. Great syndicated show with an evolving, complex, superhero theme turned to a crap Saturday morning show.

Yeah, they may have learned their lesson since then, but still - the 2 Corys is on TV!

Arthur_6116d ago

I dont see ANY positives to this, AT ALL.
But, if anyone else can, please point them out so I can stop banging my head against the wall.

thanks.

Greywulf6116d ago (Edited 6116d ago )

I doubt they will ruin wolverine anymore than marvel folks...

They are in the business of getting your eyeballs and paychecks. Any means possible.

You'd be interested to see the violent/adult material DISNEY owns. They just bought it, they aren't going to restructure it. Just make a ton of toys probably.

Baka-akaB6116d ago (Edited 6116d ago )

@Arthur_

No longer having to pimp movies and games right to crappy activision , sega studios or Fox ?

Having a finanial backup much like DC enjoy ?

Getting a big push from a new whole venue of retail and digital access or exposure ?

Access to good 3d and 2d animations studios from the west and the east ?

I know i sounds offensive , but again guys get some clue . Most of you dont even know Marvel was owned by Toybiz at some point , wich cant get any worse .

Or put another , do you known that there is a reason DC's animation have been so awesome since the batman TAs series ? Because they are owned by WB and use their awesome ressources .

Why is there a movie such as Batman begins and dark knight ? WB again ..
Sure it isnt a seal of quality with midly successful stuff like Superman returns, but it gives them unlimited ressources and tools to produce good stuff . The rest falling ultimately on the shoulders of the cast and director .

@Godmars290

gargoyles was a disney property when it was awesome too , always have been . So you can't just play the oh "it's disney" card when things goes bad . So yeah it doesnt change much like callahan said .

A more questionable owner came by and didnt change marvel . And it easily could have . When you're owned by a toy companies it's easy to go the gi joe and transformers ways , and mostly produce story with toys in mind and they didnt .

Gothdom6116d ago (Edited 6116d ago )

Will this mean we'll finally see Spider-Man animated series completely in DVD here in NA? (one of the lucky things UK has got)

As for Disney scrapping things up, I think marvel shot themselves in the foot with that upcoming Manga Wolverine movie. It looks cool, but it doesn't feel like Wolverine (from what I saw)... And that Spider-Woman motion comic, not being available worldwide from the getgo. I live in Canada and can't buy that yet, and I heard UK will wait even longer than us to get their hands on it.

I don't know, this could be good for distribution, but this can get very bad for the future of the animated series. We'll have to see. I don't want Marvel Babies to have their show.

54percent6116d ago

Kingdom Hearts will feature Wolverine

Godmars2906115d ago (Edited 6115d ago )

Not like they're going to scrap any plans they currently have for KH3 just so they can add Marvel.

Then again it is Square and all they have to do is add a Marvel World.

But do you really want to see a Marvel world "just thrown in" or craftily woven in throughout the KH mythology?

@Baka-akaB:
Yeah Gargoyles was Disney day-one, with high production values no less. Regardless, they took everything established and threw it out the window, fired its creator and dumbed it down considerably, in the move from syndication to network. They abandoned its established teen and college crowd in an attempt to appeal to ten year olds.

RememberThe3576115d ago

I think we'll be fine. Disney is a media conglomerate, they bought Marvel because of what they have to offer not because they wanted to change it up. They know that what makes Marvel so successful is what they need to keep doing.

And like Baka said no more Fox/Marvel movie deal! This is great!

Baka-akaB6115d ago (Edited 6115d ago )

The horror of KH with marvel ???

Crossover are a classic move for comics , even with multiple universes involved or intercompany crossovers .

Marvel vs DC ? Marvel VS capcom ? Mortal kombat vs Dc universe ? Batman vs aliens vs predator ? Spiderman & batman ? Batman & spawn ? Batman judge dredd ? Archie meet the Punisher ? Red sonja Spiderman ? Gi joe/transformers ? Avengers/transformers ? Witchblade/tomb raider ? MArvel zombies VS the army of the dead ? Xmen and Star trek ?

If anything marvel and dc stuff were probably more suited for crossovers than Square enix heroes .

Of course plenty of those stories sucks given the often commercial nature of such mismatch and pot pourris , however a lot of them are actualyl good or even classics .

Truthfully i dont want a disney marvel crossover , but i'm sure that with a talented team of writers , they could make it work , especially if square managed it too .

it's even certain . Currently and in the past , comics writers have been able to passionnate people with tales from some very ridiculous or insignificant superheroes ... to the point that you can no longer even kill one of the smaller hero without irking some fans .

@Godmars290

yeah i know , and it sucked for me as a major Gargoyles fan ... however going back to the topic , it's not even a disney thing .
MArvel and DC have done it plenty times to some of their properties and will do it again in the future .

Hell right now i've issues reading or buying regular Spiderman issues after what they did to Peter Parker and Mary jane's marital status .

I dont see how Disney would bring any changes to the same methods that Marvel already use and abuses (just as much as DC )

I really don't know what to think of this. I mean I guess its a good thing. I hope they don't interfere with the comic they can do whatever else they want just leave the comics alone lol. I mean they were previously owned by Toy Biz after falling into bankruptcy in the mid 90's. So this could be a chance to create better movies and shows. No low budget sh!t like Wolverine Origins. We'll see though. Thanks for publishing this story though

A Pixar X-men could be cool.

dirthurts6116d ago

Lately Disney has been striking out with their stuff. If they start taking control of the movies and comic books, then this will be a bad move...

Unbiased16116d ago

Disney made great moves by getting Marvel and few years ago Pixar.

Unbiased16116d ago

Sucks that Sony didn't acquire them, then we would be getting some sick games for sure. By "sick" i mean awesome, not garbage like we usually get.

BadboyCivic6116d ago

i think Sony would be better with Marvel...than Disney...well i guess Wolverine will be singing lion king songs on Broadway very soon

Unbiased16116d ago

yes, considering that Sony did good job with Spiderman(not counting 3rd) and made a lot of money. Sony pictures makes better movies that Disney does.
I just think considering that Sony is in both movie and gaming industry, i think they would have made a lot of money, if they were the ones to acquire marvel.

TheLaughingMan6116d ago

Well ya know Sony and Disney are on good terms. Being they were partners in the blu-ray beginning. So it also gives better chances Marvel video games where as earlier Microsoft were trying to get their hands on it.

Baka-akaB6115d ago

you do realize there is a spiderman broadway musical ?

And also about your previous comment , Marvel actually did already a story with pixies , cuteness and flowers .... it's call Fairytales . And there have been a few issues , like X-men fairytales , or Avengers fairytale .

See nothing that wasnt already done by marvel , and yet out of the blue and without reasons , you guys fear it from disney ...

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

Scissorman41d ago

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
