"Shadow Complex" might be based on an Orson Scott Card novel, a piece of right-wing propaganda called "Empire," but that's not what inspired Microsoft's new downloadable exclusive. A blatant homage to Nintendo's "Metroid" series, particularly 1994's SNES classic "Super Metroid," "Shadow Complex" doesn't pay tribute so much as blatantly rip it off. That might sound harsh, but it's no insult. "Super Metroid" is a legit contender for best video game ever made. You couldn't pick a better game to steal from.
Here's a quick "Metroid" primer for the uninitiated. Everything applies perfectly to "Shadow Complex." Your character explores an enclosed structure, such as a hostile planet, castle or paramilitary bunker, while killing enemies and acquiring offensive and defensive powers. You're underpowered at the start, with much of the map visible but tantalizingly inaccessible. As you gather new weapons, you open up new areas to explore, which in turn offer up newer weapons, which open up more areas, etc. Eventually you're powerful enough to confront the main villain, be it Dracula, a helicarrier, or a giant, living she-brain.

Neil writes "It’s Tuesday again and that can only mean one thing – it’s time for another Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight Sale. What bargains will be in place on Xbox One and Xbox 360 between the 3rd-9th May 2016?
There are a whole ton of them and surely this is the week for you to crack open the wallet?"
Quite a big sale but not entirely convinced all are decent deals. Glad to see the 360 gets a few more offers this week. I wish Screamride was on sale by itself!
Gears Ultimate Day 1 Edition? I can understand picking up day 1 physical editions at later dates, that were stuck in the retail channel for whatever reason. Late "day 1" digital sales make no sense at all though.
This is the 5th or 6th time they've had Battlefront on "sale" in the last few months
Still overpriced imo
