Why Nintendo Gamers Settle for So Much Less

From HDWarriors:

Nintendo, through their various policies and marketing strategies have built a consumer atmosphere of lowered expectations, even as they achieve record sales. While the company is doing quite well right now, is everything about this strategy sound?

Well considering Nintendo gave us very little to begin with i wonder why most nintendo only consumers cry when they see games on the ps3 then the President sustains there discontent with a saying like " we look at sony and we see nothing". Clearly with the titles they realease it seems that thats the truth because on a consistent basis we see mario yoshi and luigi every time. Its the President of Nintendos fault it all goes back to them. The gamecube had the best games of time on a nintendo platform basis but they fail to realize that when there immediate competitor Sony not Xbox clearly we see that Microsoft is following the same line as Nintendo as well with a consistent remake of there titles Halo , Gears of War and Personified Call of duty

It seems that this author is on another plane of existence one of much higher thought.

All bow before the master independent thinker and is awesome analysis of every retarded person who bought a Wii, those bumbling oafs are below him and below even human and are easily woed by clever marketing of Nintendo!

Let us not look at these idiot sheep gamers my fellow author, let us debate passionately about the how XBL doesn't compare to PSN and how Blu-Ray is the future and how DRM sucks but Digital Distribution will save us all!

=P Wake up.

and the wii still blows donkey nads.

Wouldnt expectations of something be more of a personal opinion? Much like hype I would assume. If someone purchase the wii with the expectations of quirky casual titles and finds there is fun to be had in doing so (not all games) then wouldnt that match their expectation?

The author makes it seem as if consumers of the wii dont have a choice in what they want to play. I can see where he may think there are slim pickins as to quality titles but that in itself is also subjective (?).

People have different perceptions of entertainment value. No crime in that.

Nintendo didn't hypnotize you because your immune! It's cause you don't want what they have to give.

That's fine, theres nothing wrong with loving PC gaming to Xbo360 gaming.

But to call every single person who bought into a Wii and enjoy it RETARDED is a friggin insult. This author has such weak skin to attack a demography that doesn't even ready his articles to people who have nothing to do but agree.

Lowered expectations?

Every Zelda game that is released is expected to be GOTY quality.

Every stand alone Mario game released has that same expectation.

Metroid? Ditto.

The only lowered expectation is that fans of those series don't expect to have new games every two years. Nintendo doesn't rush their core franchises.

And when effort IS put into a game by a third party, it usually at least turns a profit (like NHM) or better (TW10).

Sadly, some people probably have come to expect inferior releases from third parties. But that's not on Nintendo. That's on the developers making shoddy ports.

Did you just confirm that you have multiple accounts by posting the same comment under a different account?

Bun -- I'm not Super X. I can only edit my own post. Maybe he was trying to quote some part of mine or something...? I have no idea.

EvilTwin6118d ago

It is odd. Maybe a mod will get on it or something.

Check Super x's comment history, he just copies and pastes what other people say.

Interesting comment about a Pokemon MMORPG. Wonder why that hasn't come to fruition? That would be huge.

Everything about the way this game was developed is screaming out that the price point is way off the mark!

This just looks like Nintendo, really scraping the barrel and rubbing in their fans faces. It's just dirty at this point!

Super Mario Odyssey Turns Seven - Ranking the 3D Mario Games

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "With the Switch getting on in years and the prospect of a new Nintendo console growing closer, now seems like an excellent time to take a look back at one of its mascot’s two big evolutionary lines, particularly since we now find ourselves in the longest wait ever between 3D Mario games. Today marks the seven year anniversary for the release of Super Mario Odyssey, and with no full new entry in sight, it comfortably beats the roughly six year wait between Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, which should also be good news to anybody who broke a mirror that day.

3D Mario has delighted fans since 1996, maintaining an astonishing level of quality and bringing innovations not just to the 3D platformer genre, but gaming as a whole. Needless to say, it’s a hard task to rank a series where every entry is beloved, but I shall nevertheless undertake this risky venture with my head held high. Wish me luck."

One of the worst marios.. i hated the fact it was only about finding the moons and very repetitive with the same bosses. There is no exploration in this one.
Galaxy 2 is still unmatched

TiredGamer575d ago

I played, completed, and enjoyed Mario Odyssey, but I tend to agree that I don't think it's the best 3D Mario. There was sense of sameness that prevailed after the first couple of worlds... not in the levels, environments, or aesthetics, but in the routine of each world. It just felt like each new environment was just the beginning of another checklist of moons to acquire, and the sheer number of them took away the sense of accomplishment I got from the stars in Mario 64 and the like. I can't exactly put my finger on why that is. Galaxy gets my nod as the best one.

Cacabunga575d ago

I enjoyed it too but i won’t even place it in my top10 mario games.. as you said you are just looking for stars and that irritating music everytime you find one.
Also the bosses are pretty much the same from begging to end. I would have have like some koopalings instead of these dumb useless rabbits

Chocoburger576d ago

I played a little of this game and freakin' LOVED it! But I forced myself to stop because I hadn't played Galaxy 2, which I've been playing every day for the past week. Cripes, Galaxy 2 is way better than I expected it to be! Even though I dislike the Wiimote and nunchuck controls, and it annoyed me a lot with Galaxy 1, part 2 just feels better and slightly less gimmicky when it comes to the controls.

Profchaos576d ago

Sunshine at number 7 no way. I get it's not perfect but it deserves better to date there has not been another 3d Mario that's managed to capture that same movement it's the most acrobatic feeling Mario to date.

It's by and large better than 3d land/world and I'd argue that galaxy 2 didn't offer any trie innovation it was essentially a DLC pack to 1

Personally it's
1) Mario 64
2) Mario Sunshine
3) Mario galaxy
4) Mario Odyssey
5) galaxy 2
6) Bowser fury
7) 3d land/ world.
