If this is true they shouldn't have released the GO in the 1st place.

if they call it psp 2 then that would be nice but a 4000 would mean in the same series as the current.

Well, if this turns out to be true, I might hold off on buying a PSP Go, as I've yet to buy a PSP, but I might just get the Go in addition to a 4000, because I do like the portability that the Go offers, and I still prefer physical media for games over downloads.

I imagine The PSP-4000 probably won't even be released until next Summer or Fall at the earliest.... Hopefully the PSP-4000 will be the last hardware revision on the PSP so that Sony can get to work on the Successor to the PSP (if they plan on doing that.)... but then again, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony came out with another hardware revision of the PSP Go after the 4000 before development on a PSP2.

Those who like to upgrade the hardware are offered a new iteration every nn months. newcomers get a slightly better machine, sony cuts production costs and generates some buzz. And the ol' phat users still have a supported system, with new software and firmware updates. It's difficult to understand who is opposed to such moves. otoh, does anybody think psp2 is near, after recents dsi, 3gs, no xbox handheld at sight, and the massive wave of software support it's receiving right now?
Meanwhile, i cant wait for uncharted portable announcement...

when it comes down the psp i always felt they should, think it like apple with their ipods, i mean if you wanna go digital which makes sense, just simply make the psp come in different variations, like instead of a tiny 16gb internal of memory, why not go with things like 40gb? 60gb? and 100gb? i mean im sure its possible, heck ive seen ipods with this much memory so i dont know why sony couldnt do this.

than simply add another stick to the next psp system whenever thats ready to launch. simple.

Sony, skip the PSP4000 and go on with the PSP2. Why would you make a PSP4000 right after the PSPGO? You should work on the PSP2 now.

I'm a sony fan and all but what more could they add? Apart from fixing some screen issues and making it brighter they can't really add that much until they actually make a PSP 2.

-Super_secret stated that a PSP-4000 is in development. and I believe hes pretty credible

-Sony wants to continue support for the UMD format. They dont want to screw the fanbase over. for them this is a test to see whether people will commit to the format or not. thats why they made to different platforms under one umbrella. If people buy the PSP go over the PSP-3000/4000, then the PSP2 will most likely be a digital format only Handheld.

Probably a PSP with a slot for UMD instead of a tray, just pop it right in.

Well, shît. I was just about to buy a PSP 3000 before I read this – I had it in my Best Buy shopping cart and everything. Oh well.

Super Secret was dead-on about the PS3 Slim, so I don't see why we shouldn't expect a PSP 4000.

Hopefully it comes out sooner than later – maybe they'll announce it at TGS – because I'm planning on ordering the UMD version of Persona PSP very soon – it comes with a free 2 CD soundtrack. Atlus FTW!
