"Communications Workers of America's annual Internet speed test shows America still badly lagging in worldwide rankings. The Speed Matters test also shows Internet users in Southern or Western states lag behind Northeastern or Mid-Atlantic states."

North america is still pretty pathetic when it comes to internet speeds, these big companies just refuse to buy more bandwidth to the always growing base of users.

...all of the old switches and equipment that some companies refuse to get rid of. My connection is LESS than 1Mbps. It sucks! I have tried everything(along with my next door neighbor) to get the company(Mid-Maine) to upgrade the equipment so that we can get, at least, 3Mbps. I say the government has to step in so things can get done.

going by that site, it shows my speed is comparable to the dudes up in The Netherlands. I'm good with that. But I'm still coveting these dudes in my State, different Zip code. They getting 50+ Mbps :(
