Heavy Rain is definitely one of my most anticipated games, mainly because Indigo Prophecy was so good, but also because there will be no other game like it for a long time.

callahan096111d ago

Played Indigo Prophecy a couple of years ago. Just started Omikron: The Nomad Soul today, in fact. David Cage makes some really fascinating games. I like his work. I'm very excited about Heavy Rain.

gaffyh6111d ago

I remember reading an interview with David Cage, where he talked about a game that inspired him. Anyone remember the name of the game? I was intrigued by it, but I've forgotten it's name. :(

Sarcasm6111d ago

What I like is that you can see the emotion in the character's faces. Sadness, fear, curiousity. Well, didn't see too many happy faces, but that's the nature of the story.

Berdy6111d ago

I wasnt planning on getting this game but after I saw gameplay of it I was like HOLY SH*T!

saint_john_paul_ii6111d ago

Indigo Prophecy was one of those games that kept me on my toes, just because of how intense the story was.

LazyDevs6111d ago

Funny stuff, average movie script is 200 pages which has nothing to do with gaming. But average gaming script is 1,500 pages so go figure.

yesah6111d ago

Glad someone on here has sense.

SprSynJn6111d ago

I was going to say, most movies last for about 1.5 to 2 hours. Of course they are going to have only 200 pages. With games like these lasting at least 50 hours, this is no real surprise. They should be comparing this to Final Fantasy 13's script or Fallout 3, not movies. Then I might be shocked.

hesido6111d ago

..the game plays like a movie. Haven't you seen the videos? In most 50 hour games, you are doing slashing and running and jumping for 95% of the time, these are parts where you do not need any script.

They have to write scripts for different user reactions and these reactions may have local *and* global effects. They need a lot of writing, a lot of mocapping, a lot of voice acting.

Bob Loblaw6111d ago

They already said the script was over 2,000 pages on GameTrailers TV like 2 or 3 months ago. They also said that it was un-finished and the final script would be longer.

Cool news but it's OLD!

lordcrackpot6111d ago

same here. i loved indigo prophecy. can't wait for this one...hope there will be plenty of twists and surprises.

whothedog6111d ago

That is why this game will be amazing.

Bathyj6111d ago

Wow. Can you imagine the amount of dialouge this must have. I've read Stephen Kings The Stand and that was only 14 hundred and change, and that story was epic.

ThatCanadianGuy6111d ago

The average movie script is 120 pages.
Whats does that say about Heavy Rain? - EPIC!

DJ6111d ago

In screenwriting, they teach us that one page of script equals one minute of screen time, on average. So the people at Quantic Dream basically wrote 33 hours worth of material.

That is RIDICULOUSly amazing.

LazyDevs6111d ago

When you are script writing for a game everything goes on a seperate line, so if a charachter says "Oh My God" that is 1 line. Sure i will get disagree's but the truth hurts sometimes.

Please stop comparing video games to movies

"Many video games catch not only great commercial attention but remarkable critical attention as well. We have seen games like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us Part II, and even entries in the Metal Gear series described as fantastic interactive experiences, even heralded in the same way as Hollywood's greatest films.

I would suggest that not only is this an unfair comparison but also a harmful one. Video games, by their very nature, are an intricately different medium and should be weighed against one another rather than another form of media," Phillip writes for GF365.

Yes, please stop. They're better than most hollywood drivel nowadays.

BLAKHOODe2010d ago

I think Hollywood films will becoming increasingly more like video games in the future, especially as the world embraces the "new normal" from the pandemic. It makes sense, as games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcase just how realistically we're reaching in graphical capabilities, as well as showcase extreme action sequences in spectacular ways. And as time goes by, it'll get easier and cheaper to produce such "art", as well as create new star "actors" that never age, never die, never complain, never gets involved in scandals, etc. Technology is amazing and we're only just getting a taste of what it'll eventually be.

sourOG2010d ago

No. Some games are like movies.

medman2010d ago (Edited 2010d ago )

No. For the money spent, a quality game provides far more entertainment value than a quality movie. Especially when looking at what is going on in the world, and how a studio can attempt to pilfer from consumers by charging 30 dollars for Mulan via streaming. Ridiculous. There is no comparison....games all day.
