Square-Go: Wolfenstein Review

Square-Go writes: "Wolfenstein 3D was the original first-person shooter that would go on to influence some truly iconic titles over the years, including Halo, Call of Duty, Battlefield and of course developer ID's very own Doom series. Like a digruntled old war veteran, Wolfenstein has re-surfaced to show the rest of these young pretenders how it's done. However, while it doesn't actually re-invent the wheel or re-claim its place as king of the genre, it is an exceptional shooter, solid in its design and offering many hours of no-nonsense shoot-em-up action.

The second world war continues to rage on, with series hero William 'BJ' Blazkowicz sent back behind enemy lines to topple the German war machine and investigate the appearance of a mysterious artefact that the Nazis plan on using to conquer the world. While this is years away from the 1992 original, the same over arching sense of menace and the paranormal hits home here".

Loved Rain, funnily I was just thinking of it this week.

Definitely a good game and loved the art style. My daughter watched me play it when she was 4 years old. I’ll have to replay it with her someday now that she’s older. It’s crazy it’s been around 11 years.

I was thinking of pulling out my PS3 super slim this winter to replay Rain, and try to tackle some of the backlog I acquired.

I love Enslaved such a sleeper hit, Asuras Wrath a very good game I still own, and I wish EA would put out a new Dante's Inferno another game I enjoyed. I never heard of the Rain game I might have to try it out might give Ebay a snoop or two.

It got old tbh. Machine needed a break from the IP. Indie is a good reprieve.

Scheiße! Nein.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein is the best in the series. After that:
New Order
New Colossus
Old Blood

I really wish they'd remake Return to Castle Wolfenstein from the ground up. Easily the best of them all.
