Batman: Arkham Asylum is a rare breed of game. Not only is it a licensed title that really makes the most of the license, with gameplay mechanics that cater to Batman's character, a compelling setting and story, and a host of well-known characters, it's also a very polished product. You can tell that a whole lot of love has gone into this one, from the slick cutscenes through to the use of screeching bats to highlight gained XP. Hell, even the look of the pause menu is cool.

they don't give in to the hype. i'm sure this game is awesome and it's probably a solid 8.5-9 game.. but to say that this is the best game this year, so far, is just nuts.
ign giving this game a 9 for Lasting Appeal is just unfounded.. looking for 250 collectibles is not fun/ not gameplay.. ign au's 7.5 is more accurate..
the best version is definitely the ps3. luke skywalker's performance as the joker give it the edge for its exclusive dlc (which is free by the way, unlike crapbox dlc)
