IGN: The new PlayStation 3 introduced this week at Gamescom may be ditching the "Slim" moniker and replacing its predecessor, but when people pick up the new PlayStation 3 this September, they will be getting a comprehensively redesigned console. In addition to the obvious aesthetic overhaul, Sony has completely reworked the blood and guts of the system by revising the entire component infrastructure. Should you find the new, competitively priced system too much to resist, we've drawn up a quick guide to the key hardware variations between the PS3 "Slim" (aka CECH-2000) and the previous, fatter PS3s for you to feast your mind grapes on.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.
Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.
More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
Obviously with the 360 Elite now at $299, consumers won't need this useless information from IGN.
Nevermind that a gutless "arcade" version of the 360 has been out for over a year, it is the newly priced Elite that will spark consumers interest this holiday season.
Why buy something with features when you can stay with Microsoft for all your outdated software and hardware needs?

When will this baby get dissected, so when can see the inside of the redesigned PlayStation 3. :)
On Topic: In the chart they say the Slim has 260W? I thought it was around 250W?
Looks just about right. Nice rundown for the confused people.
No ethernet cable on the slim....interesting. Does Sony expect everybody to have wireless connection at home?...O_o
couple of questions then to those who might know:
I bought a 40gb PS3 back in December 2007. I plan on sticking a 1TB HDD in it. Will this work? I know you can replace the HDD, but it says something on that page about supporting up to 160Gb. This confused me a little, but I'm assuming that's just a model available for purchase?
All said, it seems the only change with the slim is the cost and size. No point changing if you already have the 'fat' one.
