I hear this alot when the fanboys from both sides bicker about "their" gaming console. For now I'm just going to comment on the argument in my title post. If we use this logic, that by Sony entering in the market a year later, then could that be the reason why Sony did so well against the first XBOX with PS2? I mean wasn't the PS2 on the market for several years b/c SONY killed the DreamCast with all their bull$h!t of being soooo much more powerful(thats another argument)? The answer(my opinion) is no. SONY "won" the last generation because of..wait...wait...yep you guessed it, "BOMB A$$ GAMES!". They had alot of different things going for them and yes the year or two lead did help but it was SONY marketing, gaming divisions, and etc that kept their momentum rolling. Now MS is in the same position, granted there are certain variables that make the situation different, the premise is still there. So I think its safe to say that the "headstart" can be nullified. Sony has alot going for it whereas when MS entered the market with the first XBOX it didn't have the game divisions or the industry pull that Sony has then and arguably even now. So the headstart crap is a mere fallacy in my opinion.

Not being a fanboy and all because I dont play systems that much, but if I recall over 50% of xbox 360's got RROD.... So that means Microsofts number are actually fake. They count the RROD systems as shipped or sales along with replacements or, People rebuying thier systems... Ummm, So if I'm doing my math correctly, that means in real numbers, the 360 total shiped or sales should be almost half of what they say... The PS3 should be ahead by now... If anyone is in trouble, it's Microsoft (In my eyes).

Considering:

1.The PS3 trails them after a 1 year lead
2.The RROD has not been fully addressed
3.The failure rate has risen to over 50%
4.LIPS is the only exclusive anyone has to look forward to this holiday season

They're in tip-top shape! Seriously, people must be on crack to think they are A-OK. They got some work to do now, and anyone would be out of their minds not to think the same. If you are rooting for MS (which this guy obviously is) then you should criticize them on the bad things, not give them a pat on the back and a cookie for the things they've done good. You do it to Sony, don't you? MS aren't babies. They are a mature, grown company that should get just as bad as Sony gets when it comes to the press. Stop babying them just because you want the "underdog" to beat the big bad Sony company. Another MS puff piece.Ill informed.Didn't MS do well with only their 2nd console?No,they have bought their position through affording failure.Sony were profitable and succesful with their 1st console,MS lost 4-6 billion dollars which they are no where near recouping.Yes,they can afford it and weath is wonderful but success is profit.
The Wii is the fastest selling console of all time.The Ps2 is the 2nd fastest(and greatest seller total-138 million of all time).What is the 3rd fastest selling console of all time?

PS3 is the 3rd fastest selling OF ALL TIME.In the US the 360 has won sales and more importantly total media domination(another manufacured success through MS power and influence?).
EU MS announced over 9 million sales a couple of weeks ago,Sony have just annouced 10 million but have been on the market 18 months less.At current sales rates the PS3 would have a lead of about 3 million worldwide if they had launched at the same time and that's with no factoring for the advantages of being that position.Also MS records sales as "sold to retailers" and Sony as "sold to public"which also misleads in favour of MS.
Ultimately,we should all own both anyway,since they both have some great exclusives,but I barely touch the Wii.Talk about success and it looks like worst console wins.

OK, anyone who is a 360 fan, (like all gamers should be- I am, and dont own a 360 because of rrod) and actually see's this article for what it truly is - a blatant damage, whitewash, cover-up story! should after reading my post own up to being a somewhat to full fledged blind fanboy! COME ON! OK remember when ps3 launched! all we heard was "where are the games sony!" right! so that is sooo dead.

Now ms has no new 1st or 2nd party games for past 9months+ and a expansion pack renamed full release on the horizon and 2 more games down the pipe. everything points to ms backpedaling somewhat. Which btw is good for the games industry for the leading companys to be forced to go to the table and look at the big picture all over again.
sony had to and I think did the right thing with the price cut and new sku! MS's turn!
