Honestly, though, who cares? It all falls on deaf ears. Not to say that they should continue forsaking objectivity. In fact, just the opposite, I hope they do let go of whatever bias they have, but that's not out responsibility. It's their lesson to learn. Everything they say will come around to bite them in the a$$. So why bother? It's better this way. They'll end up with foots in their mouths soon enough.

Regardless, it's still sad to see. Gaming journalists lack professionalism. Probably more so than their avid readers. That's just ridiculous. They should know better by now, it's not about whether the system be Sony's or Microsoft's, it's about the games.

A few years ago I would have laughed this off. However things have changed and there does seem to be an air of doom and gloom that constantly surrounds Sony and its products. Its almost like agenda.

Look I know Sony isn't perfect but I've never seen company take such a beating.

I mean, back in the day when all this was in printed materials, you could argue that what these people did could be considered journalism. I followed my favorite magazines, and for the most part what you got was information, mostly unbiased, industry related stories that consumers weren't privy to, articles about forthcoming products, etc., and previews, and reviews.

At some point this all started changing, as newer staff were brought on you could see everything kind of start to shift in a newer direction, one that I don't believe was a favorable one. Authors trying to force their own personal views on the readership (hell, sometimes I feel they are just writing at each other).

Now that "videogame journalism" has gone beyond printed media, it is much worse. Come on guys, you make yourselves, as well as the rest of the industry just look infantile, juvenile, well just plain bad. Why do people even read this crap?

If the ps3 were to fail & lets say sony did drop out of the console war. There goes the competition for microsoft & if there aint any competition for microsoft, u really think microsoft will be pushing devs to bring us GAMERS new INNOVATIVE GAMES? The U.S. market despises foreign success in the states because in the 1970s Japan successfully destroyed the American television market, single-handedly, with better technology. Japan does this a lot. I think Japan, after being nuked twice, basically decided to get back at America by working their asses off to be better in terms of manufacturing and product design. The car battery in my 1993 Toyota Camry lasted for 11 years without being changed. That's technological excellence.

I will never understand either of where all this hatred has come from. Sure in the beginning its launch titles weren't all that spectacular, but so were 360's launch titles. But the PS3 became an instant victim of ridicule outta nowhere. It's true, the price was pretty ridiculous at the time, but could you blame Sony for making a true next-gen console? I remember seeing G4's Xbox 360 launch coverage, and then the next day tuning to my national news, that's when I first experienced the underrated RROD.(at the time it was 360's not being able to be turned on, but still one of the first cases I seen the red ring since it had the red light bright. And it WAS underrated, don't tell me otherwise) It was hilarious, but guess what? That didn't stop people from buying it, why? Because the media kept QUIET about it. I don't blame them for not being aware about it the first time. (but 2nd, 3rd time, you gotta know by now seriously). There were reports about it, but never the less, it just didn't stop people from buying it.

It'd be nice to play 360's games, but I just can't buy/trust a faulty hardware that Microsoft still HASN'T fixed, still seeing reports after 4 years in the market with most of the 360's getting RROD, E74's and Heating issues. Like cmon, you've been in this generation's market for 4 years now and you can't even spend some of the revenue gained from Live to at least create/make more efficient consoles? Can't believe that earlier this year I was even thinking of purchasing an 360 arcade because it had the new "Jasper chip" now also reported to cause some errors. But whatever, I'm fine with PS3/Wii for now. I want to play 360 games, but I can hold out for awhile, never in my life have I yet have to go through switching/repairing-the-same-c onsole-for-a-new-one, why should I now? I just hope that people going through more than 1 Xbox 360 realize how ridiculous the pattern cycle is to keep spending on repairing/shipping. But then again, the only Microsoft platform I support at this point is a PC, since its fun to play most of valve's games on there.

Here's the question the ignorant gaming media should answer: Why can't the media focus on the 360's faults equal to how much they bashed about PS3's faults if you are truly desperate for some Web Traffic?

Even though I loved my PS1 when it came out, I never owned a PS2. I bought an Xbox and loved it. Then I bought the 360 and loved that also. Now I sold my 360 and only own a PS3. I still hope MS does well in the video game market, even though I currently don't own their console. I get so upset when this site is flooded with PS3 fanboys, but I have no explanation as to why I want MS to do well.... Maybe I just like to cheer for the underdog.

but the western or primarily the American media now have a console/company to champion with the xbox. 90% of the fud comes from them. Its human nature. Kinda like xenophobia mixed with patriotism. Xbox is ours so we feel obliged to be more favorable towards it. Truth is Sony is just doing sony and im a beneficiary. I love the games and the fact they keep giving me titles ALL YEAR ROUND not just quote 'convention stealing multiplat announcements' Im still looking for the glut of MS No Games articles but they wont come. The xbox has had the longest quality game drought since consoles began yet nothing much gets said where as if it was sony that went 9+ months without a quality title the media would be having a frenzy. Consoles are meant to have 'No Games' at the start of its lifecycle not in the middle.

Too much double standards and the 'slim' hating is nothing new to PS fans. Its just a pity there arent more honest people who acknowledged this like some of the posters above....the rest continue to hide behind terms like paranoia or classics like when they highlight 'A' positive ps3 article or review from one of the main offenders sites like that somehow exonerates them from their hating ways. Yes there is a culture divide but I cant read or speak any of their languages to make a factual and informed conclusion on that...What i can read is the constant sony downplay. I know you've had a ps3 for a while now but im sure when you first picked it up you were surprised just how good the games/tech/general feel were. You must of also played some of the games that were sh*ted on by some factions of the media only to find that the games were actually better than the portrayal given. Trust me you're not the first and i know it goes both ways in regards to the xbox just not to the same extent

Sony has had faulty hardware for two generations (PS1/PS2), we just didn't have the internet for fanboys to announce it every five minutes, but it's fanboys can forgive them.

I don't understand why you guys are so surprised and pissed. When the world expects an incredibly hyped up console to come out in a reasonable amount of time with a reasonable amount of games, and a reasonable price, but don't get that. The media is going to focus on the failures of that console the most out of the other three. Especially when its direct competition comes out a year earlier, is a lot cheaper, already has decent games, and is a lot more established in the gaming community(The 360).

The 360 has RRODs, but everyone still had one, and they would all trade theirs in 5 more times to keep playing their Xbox Live multiplayer.

Don't be ignorant and stupid. The PS3 was a joke when it first came out. That is why I waited so long to get one, and that is why the media focused their assault towards Sony. If Sony would have delivered what they are usually really good at delivering, this article would not need to exist.

Anyone with an ounce of sense could see the media had it out for Sony from the moment the PS3 was announced. You can hide behind the "SDF" nonsense all you want, but there's a lot of sites that are nothing but Microsoft Defense Force... and they scrambled into action when the PS3 slim was announced for the same price as a 360.

However, if the PS3 and its games are the result of the media hating the PS3, I hope they never stop, because Sony have delivered a quality product, quality games and improved the service dramatically. Sony have had to work for every break they get and it shows. They haven't become complacent and are working for my approval.

The media show their true colours on a constant basis, it's nothing new. But it's not just against Sony, Nintendo get a lot of abuse as well from sites, not as much as Sony, but they can't spin the sales or price against Nintendo. Nintendo is King, Sony was King, Microsoft is the perennial runner up who have never once lead the industry.

Microsoft's 2009 E3 conference was horrible, anyone who disagrees must not have watched it, as they wheeled celebrities on stage who stood awkwardly (McCartney, Starr, Kojima), spent a long time talking about Twitter, Facebook and last.fm as if they need explanation, showed games that had already been seen numerous times and, to top it all off, showed a tech demo of a barely functioning camera and smoke and mirrors Milo... it was hailed as a revolution in gaming and Microsoft somehow won E3 with a camera that didn't work properly on stage live.

Sony and Nintendo can do no right, Microsoft can do no wrong. I can only imagine what would have happened if Sony or Nintendo had a failure rate close to what the 360 has, the press would have eaten them alive.

i don't know if were you saying i was one of the people who take this stuff to seriously but i personally don't care what the media think of the ps3 i'm happy with my ps3 i was just throwing in my 2 cent in and the thing with the 360 has nothing to do with the system being good it just makes more sense to buy a new one for $200 then to lose the $300 for the first one with hdd the $50 for live (about $200 for the 4 years the 360 has been out) plus the games also you say the ps3 not was worth buying at launch isn't a good enough reason for the media to bash it considering the 360 had worst launch titles and hardware issues but that beening said people shouldn't get worked up over the media because they like when alot people come to their sites even if it is just to complain

@ taylork37 sorry about not just replying to your comment directly the ps3 browser doesn't let me reply on the second page i don't think your being biased its just if people are going bash the ps3 and 360 it should be consistent and not pick and choose when something becomes a problem you think 360 had better launch titles but none of them have sequels now because they were not good were as games like resistance do and saying the ps3 has no games didn't make sense because like you said the 360 had better games when the ps3 launched well the 360 was in its second year i would expect them to be better but the media ignore that also they ignore the fact that the year after the ps3 launch it had alot of games people bash the 360 because of legitimate problems hardware issues and games having problems online its seem the only real problems they bash ps3 for is price and lack of features on psn and since psn is free can really complain about it its not like your losing any money

I think current games journalists are just a bit younger. They still haven't got out of the "my console is better than yours" mentality, and because the Xbox is the best selling machine, that's what most of them own.
