New IPs which is why I like the PS3. MS sticks to sequel after sequel and takes no risks. Sony takes more chances on games such as LBP and Heavy Rain. Always innovating. In fact, without Sony GTA would never have been as big as it is and all because they took a chance.

i think one off games are foolish for developers/publishers, all games should have at least one sequel, they can use established worlds/characters and make a rich world with a backstory, 1 off games are rushed and have limited replayability.

I love them new IPs.

Sometimes I do want sequels. I want a new Elder Scrolls, more Metroid, more Half-Life, and Gran Turismo etc...

But new IPs, they're where its REALLY at.

New IP's im DEFINENTLY more interested in but i love the best of BOTH worlds. :)

Both of course. Their has been a great variety on both realms this gen. New IP's like Crackdown, Gears of War, Uncharted, Mass Effect, Dead Rising (My personal favorite) Left 4 Dead, Bioshock, Kameo, etc... And of course sweet proven sequels like Halo 3.

Lion Head and Bungie, should star making new ips, I love halo and fable (FABLE III :D) but I want something new.

New IP(s), I'm tired of squeals with half assed stories.

There is nothing like getting a kick out of an old favorite and some new soon to be favorites.

I prefer deep gameplay, no matter of platform and or sequel or new ip.
I dont even care for stories or graphics. Give me some fresh gameplay
and i am sold for life.

I prefer both I mean you need sequels for the games to continue on and you also need new IP games, good ones.

Generally, new IPs, especially for mature audiences. That's the sweet spot for me. I don't mind sequels, but they have to feel unique. Otherwise, it falls flat. For example, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was a breath of fresh air, but I don't want U2: Among Thieves being the sequel to Drake's Fortune. I want it to stand on its own. Sure it can have the same characters and continue the story, but, make no mistake, each sequel should feel like a NEW game. Kinda confusing, but I guess that's my point. I want it to FEEL new. Like I've never played anything before like it. :D

IPs are always great. The problem with sequels is that developers feel too safe with them, they don't take chances and thus we get games that are good but aren't fresh. Like Halo 3. Halo 3 is a solid experience. I found the single player to be great in terms of gameplay mechanics but only because it is so much like the first two halo games. And the story was just another kick in the face for me. I want the kind of game that has a satisfying ending. It doesn't have definitely announce that there is going to be a sequel. Recall the Indiana Jones films for reference. Each one ends the story arc that is in each film. They are all satisfying endings with no cliffhangers. Halo games could have been like that. Hell, even Mass Effect could end without a crappy cliffhanger.

well, it depends a lot on the game.
What do I prefer, Metal Gear Solid 4 or X Blades? hmmm "but X Blades is a new franchise" you say. I say "**** that, MGS4 is the awesomeness.

On the other hand what do I prefer: Okami or Guitar Hero 5/Madden 2011? Well Im all for Okami.

I prefer only good games.

Obviously both, new IP's are good for gamers and so are sequels. But sequels should expand upon what made the first game fun (or not fun in some cases).

new IP's help innovate and keep the industry fresh and forward thinking but sequels to games help pay the bills and keep the wolves from the door
