Wired: Windows 7, which hits stores in October, is shaping up to be the best version of Microsoft's widely-used operating system yet.
But nothing's perfect. Windows 7, like any product, has flaws - some of them big ones. On Tuesday Wired.com laid out a list of good reasons to upgrade to Windows 7, including an enhanced user interface, improved compatibility with newer hardware and a seamless entertainment experience. (For even more background, see our first look at Windows 7.)
Now let's look at the other side of the story: The reasons you might consider skipping this upgrade altogether.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."
I guess the Media hates MS and not Sony
i got one reason
- its made by Microsoft
the guy kinda comes off as an apple fanboy... i mean honestly, one of his reasons was the snowloapord was coming out, well i've been using the windows 7 rc and its damn near perfect for me, the interface is a little too simple at first but i got used too it. Also it plays games that are compatible with vista and windows xp and has diractX 11, that's a good enough reason for any gamer to upgrade to windows 7.
EDIT: @familyguy, well first of, if you're upgrading from vista, its pretty much faster, cleaner, and a lot less buggy than vista,
if you're upgrading from windows xp than you would probably be 50/50 on wanting(needing) to upgrade, the only thing that would convince you might be that it has more support from microsoft than xp does and a few new helpful things like the new search on the start menu.
why journalism is going down the crapper. While I do respect the author's opinion, it's different when you are reading it through a popular source. Some of the reasons aren't even valid! How the hell is "It's still Windows" even an excuse?
But you know what, I'm not even going to vent here on N4G. Sometimes you just can't explain how much idiocy is going on today in the 'journalism' world.
I for one already pre-ordered 3 Windows 7 Home Premium for $150. Just because some of you hate the 360 doesn't mean you have to hate on every single thing Microsoft produces. Windows 7 is what Windows Vista should have been and they got it right this time, luckily. I already replaced all my home machines with the Windows 7 RC and it's rock solid.
I don't need articles like these telling me that Mac OS is superior to Windows OS, because they're always everywhere on the net at any given point in time. Everytime a new Windows gets released, there will be at least one Apple fanboy bringing up old topics like this, telling people to switch to Mac. We get it, your precious OS X is "awesome", now go back to your little world and ask yourself why Windows PCs are still the dominant force in the market.
