go into the hand held market, but um Msoft is not even close to bankruptcy, they have an extremely big amount of money at their disposal.

Now maybe their gaming division wouldn't get as much money but Msoft as a company is very far from bankruptcy, unless a big scandal like Enron occurs.

But this could be quite a cool handheld war, Msoft might release some good stuff, to counter the PSP. So in some ways it would help the PSP.

But still Nintendo would dominate.

Why would Microsoft even need a handheld,currently Nintendo DS is not defeatable currently in that area.
As it is there is no point at all, they will only lose money.

I welcome any new product, it only makes the industry more competitive. For those that do not own or do the handheld thing, why would you care again?

I have a DS and a PSP, and they serve me different purpose when it comes to gaming, just as the Wii and my 360.

A: Might End up like the Atari Lynx! MS should stick with system's, cause there handheld, might have a Red Ring as well!

Now um you also have to convince people to do so as well.

It could be a very good idea, but it doesn't mean it will turn out right.

You would have to sell a lot of consoles in that case, and really for that to happen, wow thats literally impossible.

Anyways, that would probably take years, and by then, Msoft might change their strategy.

as for the handheld market maybe, because of the success of the i-pod, but still they would have alot of work to do, and i mean alot.

now you can carry your red ring of death where ever you go. LOL

the other thing is(btw that was a good point about stevie) what support from game makers will they have. I mean considering who's backing Sony, Msoft, and Nintendo exclusively, apple will have to work really hard to bring some good unique games to their own console or hand held.
It can be done, but its going to be a toughy.

As for the i-phone, it will probably do good, but game wise probably not.

Even though the PSP and the DS are popular I think both systems leave something to be desired by hard core gamers. I know this is true because I have almost bought a PSP 5 or 6 times. I just can not get over the fact that it has no games.

All M$ would need to do is drop a hand held with dual analogs, triggers, and Halo portable opps with free wifi and XBL support and BAM. PSP killer day one. Could you imagine how many Halo fans would buy that day one. Throw in some RPS's, ect. The DS is not going down by Sonys hands or M$ but it would be nice to have another choice.

Of course Sony fans do not want to see a portable XBOX. Just look the video game industry today every thing but the PS2 is getting killed in Sonys camp.
